This is quite good story. It's similar to Terror Infinity, but different enough. They have more freedom, they don't have to team up if not willing and don't have follow the plot of the movie. The system is more gamelike and gives players much more info. The first 7 chapters are very long prologue, which feels unnecessary because it does not have much do with actual plot. MC will return to RL between movies, so it still has some meaning. Also, MC has no team or any friends, he does... more>> things mostly by himself. It's worth of reading if you can get past the prologue. One-star reviews are probably because people felt that it was too similar plot as TI. <<less

Novel very interesting especially since MC don't always win and barely survive just by using his wits

His actions are reasonable w very little plot armor and a lot of suffering just to power up

MC is tank w brains to back him up (like barbarians + tank mix) as he counts the pro n con to win or survive

... more>> Novel aurthor sense of humor.... Is quite funny like dad jokes

The only complain I have is the long long long as hell description on femal character just stapppppppp

I don't need so many paragraphs describing how white, how slender or how elegant yet cold. Eg:

Spoiler

Zi was grinding some coffee beans at the moment.

Her hair fell down at the side to cover half her face. The dark colour of her hair stood out on her pale white skin, and coupled with her serious, concentrated look, she exuded a heart-stirring charm.

[collapse]
on every few paragraph on all female characters.

But the side characters are quite realistic w their own advantages and disadvantages n quirks, just a bit of getting sidetrack by mc

Last few chapters are too rushed and the MC inexplicably won the fight against Strive (parallel world mc) while the bad guy try uno reverse w MC. Both reversing each other ALL IN 1 CHAPTER

Spoiler

MC dad's died n gave him power which was supposed to go to dad's killer (aka parallel world mc's dad) the killer drag MC into his realm after MC loss (to Strive) n toss himself off the cliff. Then as MC dying drag eve (consciousness of Noah Realm C) to save him. Then killer get transmigrated into insane person body in different world as part of his plan

It's not exactly worth 5 stars, but it's definitely higher than the current 3.8 stars. So I'm giving it a 5 star rating to give it a slight lift.. Lol.

- A lot of unnecessary info dump, which you can safely skip!

- The earth subplot is something you can also entirely skip!

... more>> Aside from that, I loved how the author explores the different movies in new ways. Definitely a breath of fresh air, especially if you're a fan of some of the movies.

Worth a read to pass away time, if you have nothing else to read. <<less

@darkiesan The plot armour the MC has and his unique innate ability were explained in the last 3-4 chapters of the novel and it also explains why main characters have plot armour in its own unique way. His luck is also explained.

MC is Smart and it is also related to his luck [which is explained later] why he wins most of his battles.

The Purpose of Nightmare Realm is also explained and story fully explores the nightmare realms and many things related to it.

You saying that author is an untalented prick,... more>> the worlds MC goes into have their background explained in its own unique way like the world is fully explored from different view not from original storyline view. And after all he is going to a movie world so why should not he use the name of movie characters.

You talked about metal professor commiting su*cide
Spoiler

She does so to save her lover and also because she knows she can be resurrected later and she was later in the story resurrected.

[collapse]

At start it would be boring to read cause of info dumps and unnecessary chaps [like the entire prologue after reading few chaps I skipped that] but after reading it past 500 chaps the story starts becoming interesting. <<less

Extremely underrated novel, at first I was turned off by the sub-4 rating, but holy **** it's now my favorite

MC IS ACTUALLY 200IQ

No, this is not just one of those novels where the author says "oh look MC is super genius he learns god technique with one look."

MC is actually a genius, he takes simple clues over the course of an arc, and he puts them together to draw logical conclusions that make sense. It's like watching a detective show, there are clues you see that don't seem to fit... more>> together, but when the detective explains the mystery, everything suddenly makes sense.

MC then uses these conclusions to his advantage, and creates plots and schemes to beat people rather than just being like "oh look I'm MC I am already stage47 enlightened but enemy is only stage46 enlightened, haha take my super boom I win"

Anyways 5/5, best novel I've read here, small issues with math here and there where author adds the money/exp together wrong, but those are barely noticeable <<less

Ultimate evoltion start's off slow with a lot of info dumps for the first 10 chapters, this is to let you know the MC and his situation. After these chapters he will start in his first world which is more like a tutorial world. I quite enjoyed his first world but some may find it kinda boring. This is because it's still the first world, the author is trying to explain all about how the system works which takes time and is nescessary for this novel. Afterwards in his second... more>> world, things really start to get going. The movies he visits mostly center around background stuff of the movies not what actually happens in the movies themself. For example, Harry potter. He won't meet Harry potter (atleast not yet) but he will come in contact with side characters and he will go to places that are in the movie or are mentioned in the movie. Basicly if you want to read a novel with game elements, awesome smart MC, fun film reverences and great fighting scenes, this novel will certainly be to your liking as long as you get trough the introduction. <<less

Great piece of work. This novel manages to miraculously humanise the game setting, in a manner rarely ever done before. The setting itself is mysterious, ever changing, and utterly ruthless. One mistake, and life itself will be forfeit. Yet, the Game isn't heartless, there's an opportunity, for anyone whom can grasp it. They can possess everything, and anything they wish for. All they have to do is abide by the Laws of the world. Sounds very insidious doesn't it?

A must read. A story full of mystery, action, cunning, and intelligence.

I absolutely love the infinite element genre and The Ultimate Evolution is shaping up to be a great addition. Admittedly the start is kind of slow and I can't wait for more character development for our MC but the sparks of greatness are evident.

Although the basic story is similar to Terror Infinity, the entire feel is completely different (even if some of the same movies are used), and I would rate it as equal to or better than TI (with less chapters released though, so we'll see how it holds up).

That being said, it really felt like the intro takes too long (before the MC reaches the evolution world), but it does serve as an interesting set of situations and dangers for the MC later on. I skipped some paragraphs at the beginning... more>> (especially when other characters than the MC were present) without regret, but luckily once the story got going I have not been wanting to skip text at all - things get better and generally stay better.

Personally I am OK with the solo MC aspect, since the Chinese LN authors clearly seem to do far better with solitary MCs. It's a shame, but it seems like most of them REALLY do not understand friendship or healthy synergy at all, so better to forgo it entirely and thus not have to deal with disappointingly 2D bizarro 'friends' and 'lovers'. (Or in other words: until/unless healed, psychopathy only fits with a solo life)

One big negative did crop up in V3, that nearly made me drop the story: although it is perfectly logical that if you are much weaker than your opponent, you have to use underhanded ways to defeat him, but normally you will have some clear reason and enmity that motivates such action, yet here it's rather JUST that we are supposed to treat the MC's victims as NPCs, even though they are clearly so life-like.

Spoiler

Most of the MC's victims are scum-of-the-earth pirate villains, or other villainous crooks, but in V3 the MC takes down this buff, charming, straight-shootin', straight-talkin' sub-boss who clearly only ever treated the MC right, and he does it in such a dragged out way, using every nasty trick the rat-bastard MC/author could dream up (because the damned 'high constitution' viking pirate rightly just will not quit/die and let himself be so poorly taken advantage of by such a rotten bit*h MC!)

I identified far more with the viking than with the MC, which made things very horrifying.

[collapse]

Luckily, this kind of situation only showed up once, to date, and otherwise it is pleasant to have an MC who is a bit smarter than usual, even if the world setting most likely does not make any real sense (ie: the reason for 'ultimate evolution' being forced on people is not going to make sense, nor will the god acting behind the curtain make any sense either).

One positive that can be said about the LN up to this point: the MC is kept pretty much constantly on the defensive in do-or-die scenarios where he needs to survive above all - this easily makes sense and is satisfying, compared to LNs where the MC quickly attains decisive power only to then clearly show how much of a creep he is.

Anyhow, I am enjoying it quite a bit, in spite of its flaws. <<less

Shameful, just that easy.

900 chapters all good, all alright, all an incredible read.

Spoiler

First, the novel suddenly turns into a sh*t show spin-off of a detective version, for more than 100 chapters.

It's so devastatingly ret*rded that 100 chapters or so are just that.

MC from being a bloodthirsty, extreme thirst for dangerous battles 1v1 and killing a girl just to force her to appraise something, then killing her in a s*xual pose to implicate other movies' MC heavily- to a never killed nor ever will kill the innocent, not a mu*derer and not a crazy for fighting warrior.

The whole build-up, the whole character progression was immediately gone replaced by a generic virtue, generic mindset- completely overruling whatever was built before, shameful.

Melody, the only girl who truly ever loved him (MC) and wouldn't hesitate anything to give up for a life with him, even prob being with Zi as well, was discarded away, zi asked: "if you summoned her now, who would she help?" then answered by MC: "me, ofc against contestants" and then completely discarded again for the rest of the novel 200 chapters or so, never mentioned not even in the final chapter, disgusting. Even when he told Reef that he'd have them both, and after author exclaimed that he'd pretty much would be working that out slowly, at the end it was just discarded, ended like that. F*cking shame.

As for battling for the last 200 chapters, well f*cking vacant. Just that, like a bubble and is supposed to be full of anything, but it be just a damn bigger bubble, that be all.

Only good thing last 200 chapters is two round with queen of blades.

[collapse]

I endured the unnecessary info dumps in really tense or epic-to-be moments, negative progression, regression, tasteless and effortlessness. I couldn't cup up with the inability of Juantu's balls towards a nice progression for the MC alone, let alone anything else. There is only two power-ups, TWO, in 40 chapters more for a 1.5k novel. Two. And only one of them wasn't obious, the innate ability upgrade was quite nice for timing, but for the next 1.2k chapters is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Then the one that has truly god-like enhancement (hint: RE5) is just a go back to world and get virus and then pum- boredom hits, headache arrives, disappointment fills your every cell.

It's easily a 0*, but for the first 900 chapters, it gets a happy pat in the back for half a star (yes, I'm demolishing with my thoughts), but Melody makes it a more than just 4* at least, pity her role was neglected due to Juantu's f*cking choices, s*upid f*cking mistakes (Q_Q) so it get down to 2* for the sake of MY respect to Melody, which author-dumbo couldn't have thought of having, shameful I only feel so. <<less

The MC is a tank with a brain. Imagine the guy you can't kill is taking every second you waste formulating or enacting a plan to kill you. That's the MC for this novel. Fun book to read and he has 2 buddies that come along for the ride. This was a novel I gave up sleep for.

Similar to Terror Infinity in that both start off amazing and have really great fight scenes/missions/plot points and both either go in an suboptimal direction, rushed end, or just falls off in general. I won't compare the two as they each have their own positives within the infinity genre but I did enjoy both of them until a certain point.

I read TI a long time ago and enjoyed it more but that could be due to a number of things: I was younger, I was reading a lot of tr*sh... more>> Japanese novels and it was a unique novel at the time, it was the first infinity genre I read and I hold more nostalgia for it, etc.

Lets start with the positives of this novel, we have our MC Sheyan who is pretty badass and smart with his abilities. Ignore the prologue and ignore the real life moments, those are pretty tr*sh compared to the missions and arcs. The earlier arcs and missions had some great memorable moments and there is a clear growth of MC as he is getting stronger per arc. Later on, the plot switches to team dynamics and fights with other nightmare teams which is okay.

There are also some negatives, most of which occur during the later parts of the novel:

    1. Sexism - our MC regularly sexually harasses his female teammates and the author says they like it (there was one moment later where MC slaps a girls ass or forcedly pushes her against the wall and kisses her and she can't resist because he is stronger. When she gets angry, he says don't lie, you liked it.)
    2. Once you get past the 1k chapter, things progress so fast, you have MC jumping power levels like a frog.
    3. There was a lot of unanswered questions at the end like what happened to this character or why did MC forget about that?
Overall it was still enjoyable as I like the infinity genre but I wish it was done better. <<less

Just finished and it was worth reading it.

The end could seem a bit rushed but the last chapters contain lots of informations and most of the questions are answered.

The MC is quite calculative and strong in his actions, but it can be fuzzy sometimes for his decisions: the reader is sometimes as much knowledgeable as the MC's ennemies, or even less, and some twists can be forced.

Still, the exploration of various worlds and encounters of many known fictionnal characters make the reading quite fun and the author always make it... more>> so that these worlds and people keep their complexities or are even more complexe that what is known.

Overall, it is one of the best novel of the kind and thus, a must read from beginning to end. <<less

I am back again with another review after finish reading this. For more detail you can see the spoiler below. If not, you can just see my review spoiler free. Warning, I am not a native english speaker so bear with me.

*Review*

One of the best infinity genre, but suffer the same ending with all 1k above chapter in chinese novel, the ending is rush because the author want to make a trilogy of this book. I want to rate this 3 star but the ending did tell us why the... more>> MC is lucky and make such intelligent decision thus it up to 4 star. It could be 5 star if only author extend the plot.

Spoiler

Ok time for spoiler ! The reason why I say it rushed is because imagined how hard it is MC to upgrade to growth hunter then he upgrade to awakener. Its not easy. But then in last 100 chapter, MC suddenly upgrade 2 time from awakener> executioner> Monarch after he finish 1 mission. This story suffer the same fate as I got a mansion in post apocalypse world. The world did not fully explore. But this did not reduce the quality of the story. The harem also is open ending.

The problem I found with the ultimate evolution is that it’s first couple of volumes happen to be it weakness, even causing myself to dropped it a couple of times. However after the first few volumes, as the MC begins to get a grasp on the situation and the universe starts to expand the story comes into it own. The key reason I enjoy the ultimate evolution is that everyone’s actions has consequences both within the current world and later if they return.

If you're looking for a very immersive and realistic fantasy novel then this one is for you.

If you're looking for something fast paced with character power ups every time MC has a set back and also an edgelord then don't read this novel just to give it a 1 star. Seriously this is not a high school Japanese novel.

Now let me tell you why this novel is absolutely fantastic, the first volume is entirely consistent on character introductions and real world immersion. Our MC is not a geek or an... more>> idiot high schooler, no its a 25 year old intelligent chap who thinks several steps ahead and one who has endured the hardships of life.

Thrown in a movie world where anything can happen this isn't like terror infinity where you fulfill your fantasys of having a hot chick to comfort you and lots of money thay you can take later on. No this a brutal world where s*upid people will die pretty quickly and even the careful can get destroyed with just a little overconfidence. You are not here to fulfill your fantasys you're here to survive the day, and your increase in power may not happen if you don't complete the mission which can easily cause your death.

As I read this novel the more I fall in love with it, it gets better and more exciting each time with new developments that will immerse you in your own imagination.

Now if there are cons but you can ignore these easily, firstly lots of info dump on items which are not essential but optional if you want to read it. Secondly thr novel builds up slowly, although I love that aspect many people who come to read new novels want a fast paced one. However I argue that instead of reading a fast pace novel which you will forget why not read this one and have a good time?

Main reason for me writing this review - more readers more money for translator more chapters so I read more. <<less

An interesting story that shares many similarities to Terror Infinity (if you also enjoy that novel).

The beginning can be a bit of a slog to go through (it personally took me a few tries to get past the first few chapters), but the story picks up in the second volume and then truly shines in the third volume.

Spoiler

Seriously. In the third volume, when the MC is venturing forth in the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean, you get to see Sheyan's devious and ruthless nature shine as he schemes his way to the top. Just imagine a toned-down Xuan from Terror Infinity and that's what you're getting. It's great.

This is a solid 4 star. 3 stars is average, and this is better than average so it deserves 4. This is also the reason why it's not just 1 or 2. The first movie was Terminator; I get it, but the writing is not crappy in any way at all. Second movie is PotC, if that helps offsets anything. If I had a complaint, it would be the slow pacing, but even then, that should only drop it to 3 for people who really cared. It's not too bad... more>> though since the TL team is pumping these chaps out pretty quickly. All those 1-stars are loyal followers of TI who look at this as the complete opposite of TI's fast, exciting pace and story. I don't blame them for being disappointed, but this story is certainly not 1-star. The reason why it's not 5 is because:

1. I'm also spoiled by TI

2. Little excitement

3. Slow pacing

4. The explanation about the mechanics of the world between movies is really crappy. Other than those, everything else is good. Character development is ok, the overall theme is good, insight on mc's thoughts is good, MC is good, side characters aren't bad, the writing itself is good, and it's interesting enough that I read it when a new chap comes out. <<less

I couldn't take it. The author's willing to put in the effort, as you can see from the fact it's complete. However... when you read the prologue you can already can a good sense of the inauspicious start the author is launching himself from. The protagonist Sheyan is hot garbage. I found myself constantly rooting against him in the Pirates of the Caribbean arc. There's just nothing endearing about his self-serving oafish ways, despite the author constantly plying him unusual bouts of wisdom and analytical abilities. The combat is simultaneously... more>> convoluted and over simplified with the way he relies on video game stats and logic to describe the battles. And while every world Sheyan visits offers so much potential... the fact we're shackled with Sheyan ruins it all.

By the end of the Harry Potter arc, I realized I wasn't enjoying anything anymore and tossed it. The Pirates arc proved the author has the chops to be creative and come up with interesting storylines, but we just don't get to see them through.

Also the translation is pretty bad. <<less
