After waking up, Wen Tian turned into the villain cannon fodder in the face-slapping novel he read before going to bed.

Good news: The plot of the cannon fodder’s death was only halfway through.

Bad news: It was the fatal half.

Just when he was confused and doubting his life, a fluffy little head with a strong milky fragrance timidly poked in from the door. The little face covered with milk powder was dripping with tears, and he said in a trembling little cry, “Daddy, I was not careful… I spilled the milk powder TT”

Wen Tian sat up with a “ho”.

The little milk bag was so scared that he squatted on the ground with his buttocks, holding his head tightly with his two little arms. His little body kept shaking, and he cried and apologized, “I was wrong, daddy, I won’t dare to do it again, don’t hit me, wuwuwu…”

Wen Tian, ”Did you step too high? Did you fall? Did you choke? Are you hungry? Why didn’t you call me?”

Little milk bag: ? ? ?

The little baby raised his wet round eyes and stared at Wen Tian who was leaning over him with a look of panic, “Daddy?”

Wen Tian hugged the little crybaby’s soft body, patted him to clean the milk powder, and said gently, “You are still a little kid, you just made a mistake accidentally, how could daddy bear to hit you?”

Oh – Wen Tian sighed.

Wow, turn off your brain if you want to read this story. Not only is it illogical, it is a mess!

Wen Tian transmigrates into a melodramatic novel that he read. He has a 3 year old baby with him. The original host Wen Tian (oriWT) ab*sed the baby and in the novel, oriWT was discovered as the ab*ser when he joined this reality show. And yet in the novel, after oriWT was discovered to have ab*sed the baby, he still continues on the reality show and is basically a cannon... more>> fodder villain. The baby is eventually adopted by the original leads of the novel (oriMC Lin Qing and ML Jiang Han). oriWT then has a tragic end. That's what WT knows anyway.

Yet somehow when he goes on the reality show, ML finds him and is now pursuing him cause there's a hidden plot that WT doesn't know! Apparently oriWT slept with Jiang Han and had TWINS. oriMC took one of the twins to give to ML to raise, and somehow the other twin is with WT? This is when it gets confusing... Is WT an unreliable narrator, or is the author just making a mess of things?

I honestly don't know if it'll get better as I might drop it.

Initially I thought the translation used the wrong names in certain paragraphs too but when I check the MTL, it is the same. Means the author also uses wrong names sometimes. At one part, WT was driving, then at the next paragraph, it turns out he was actually in the passenger seat. At one point he's holding baby's hand, but at the next paragraph it's revealed that he was actually holding 2nd ML's hand. Err... okay. It's a mess.

Read it without brains if you want a tropey story about a man running away with the ball (mpreg), with separated twins who will eventually find each other again, domineering CEO ML who's trying to get to the bottom of this mystery and chase after his love, entertainment storyline... <<less

Honestly, I believe most of these reviews did not read the book completely, or at least they just skimmed through it. I will try not give too much spoilers, but here goes :

Yes, I admit it's not the best book out there, but it's definitely not that bad ? Actually it's pretty good. There is no glaring plot holes, everything gets explained in the end. It does take some time, it's still an 81 chapters book, you can't really have everything end in the first 20 chaps right ? There... more>> is a reason for everything. And I mean, Every. Thing. Why does ML pursue MC from the start ? Explained. Why is the 6 year old kid yanderish ? Explained. Why does it take time for MC to recognize the second twin ? Explained. You just have to be patient and read carefully, the book is kind of slow burn.

I really liked that the kids actually played an active part in the story. Many stories actually uses the kids as a plot device to make the protagonists meet or whatever and the kids only appear when plot requires otherwise they are... well... not there. But the children in this story have a role to play, they are well fleshed out characters that bring something to the story.

The story mainly focuses on the plot. There is romance, of course, and although it is an important part of the story, it's not the main/only focus. Just like the entertainment industry is not the main focus either. The plot is. And now for the plot, it will be explained in the HEAVY SPOILERS below.

Spoiler

Alright, so. The main character transmigrated into a book. Or at least he thought. Yes, there is no "original owner" or "transmigrator from the outside". The protagonist has always been the original one. We get hints of this as we read, but it is all explained clearly at the end. And now for the big questions : Why can't he recognize his second child ? Because he litteraly does not know he exists. He cannot remember. Why ? Because the world will not let him. Actually, the child should not really exist either, he is a "plothole" in the world. Because the world revolve around Lin Qing, because it was written by Lin Qing.

The "world" is Lin Qing's fantasy. Which is why little Song Zhinian, who is 6 years old, is "mentally impaired/ill". The child saw LQ hit someone when he was young and thought "LQ is a bad person." But this is LQ's world. Everyone should love him, so the child is a bug. How do you correct the bug ? Diagnose the child with "autism", make him have attacks when he thinks badly about LQ. Make him crazy.

Why does Ml's best friend not even realise that the children are identical ? He cannot remember the child's appearance no matter how hard he tries. And why does he not remember his child's mother ? Because the book is from LQ's perspective. He does not know everything.

Why doesn't ML just explain things to MC or just show him the kid ? Because he can't. Literally. Even if he tries to explain, people cannot hear him, because the world overwrites it. It corrects the "bugs", so that nothing can go against the fantasies written by LQ.

But how can the world created by LQ become the real world ? That too is explained at the very end.

Well, I feel like I gave enough spoilers. One last word before I finish my rant : The ending does feel a little abrupt. Some things definitely could have been explained better or fleshed out a little more, but it is still a good book. The translation is also good, although it is a little confusing in some parts and the pronouns are sometimes mixed up, it is not enough to negatively impact the reading experience.

I really suggest you give this book a try. The story is well written and the plot is all tied up together in the end. It's definitely, at the very least, a 4 stars. <<less

Man. I initially gave this a 5/5 just to up the ratings a bit, since I'm usually up for a 'trope-y mess', as another reviewer put it.

I started reading this with pretty low expectations due to the rating, but actually found myself thinking it wasn't so bad, hence the initial 5/5 rating. The translations were pretty ok, and the story is dumb, but I was totally on board with turning off my brain.

Looked like I was in for a story focused on child-raising, with some Entertainment Industry face-slapping, a sprinkle... more>> of romance, and a heck ton of 'Parent Trap' shenanigans lol.

Reason I had to bring down my rating:

Spoiler

As any MPreg story focused on child-rearing, the babies are incredibly cute and strangely act both more mature than their age one moment, before being... well, an infant and plot device in the next.

I hadn't minded the first few chapters, but then we meet Song Cheng and his kid. SC is presented as a semi-love rival at first, with a 6yo child who is mentally impaired (in the words of MC) and in need of a friend. That friend just happens to be the twin that MC is raising.

Baby 'darling', a 3yo raised by MC, is incredibly sweet and angelic, while his at first unknown twin brother Baby 'mischief' was raised by ML.

I was so ready to keep my brain turned-off, reading the parts about the kids, but man, the way the author is already setting up the 6yo as a yandere (the story labels the kid a yandere, not me), mentally ill, obsessed with Baby 'darling', as a future pairing, gave me so so SO MUCH ICK.

It was unnecessary, since there's already a lot going on in MC's actual plotline, and this is just a side-plot, but it gave me such a bad taste in my mouth, I kept considering dropping this.

Like, come on. Why you gotta set up a Pre-K puppy love setting for the kiddos???? The way the 6yo's obsessive thoughts and actions are played off as 'cute', but then it's implied that SC knows it's wrong and that his kid has psycho tendencies.

[collapse]

Ended up dropped this. Just a nitpick:

Spoiler

There's a pretty dumb plothole where the 2nd ML (Song Cheng) is supposedly best friends with the ML, but takes a while to think MC's kid looks hella a lot like ML's kid. It's weird. ML has a 3yo kid who looks a lot like MC's 3yo, and ML immediately recognizes MC must have fathered twins, 2ndML takes more than 30chapters tl connect the dots lol

the kids seem to have mental ages that jump from 3 to 12 to suit the author and the kid that is labelled as autistic is also described as a yandere at the age of 6 which is just weird

the narration is hard to follow at best and plot holes are plenty, and the character's iq levels also fluctuate incredibly
Spoiler

like the second male lead did not realise that the twins are fathered by the same person. They're literally twins ??

It dragged soooo much in the beginning and then the ending abruptly appears.

Spoiler

I really just wanted the MC to find out he had two babies FAST. It only happened around the 60th chapter. More than half the story was over by then.

[collapse]

This doting dad forgot about his 3 year old son for half a month 😃 BOTH dads forgot about him. I thought it was a set up for some child kidnapping or "transmigration" magic, but, no. They just straight up forgot.

Too many icky settings. Especially Song Cheng's son.

Spoiler

His son is SIX years old. SIX. He was talking like a 10 year old, making perfect sense all the time. There was no need to set up the Zhizhi x Baby pairing so fast. Author made a six year old act like a weirdo and even wrote that he had psychopathic tendencies.

Zhi zhi was taking medicine because of an "illness" which is caused by the villain. The same illness which made people cal the six year old weird. But, then the author also attributed Zhizhi's out of ordinary as because of the illness which makes no sense because the illness is only a really painful headache (unbearable for adults, even more so for kids). Like what is the author implying here

Translation is great. 5 stars. I love when websites have link to the next chapter continuously. <<less

The plot turned out to be a lot better than I expected. It's got plot twists and the summary is just surface level. The summary is what the novel is disguised as. You'll understand when you read it. The world of the novel (?) isn't what I've ever read in any other novels before.

The other reviews don't seem to have read the novel to understand it. It's not a child raising novel. If I had to say, it's more of a mystery, unreliable narrators, fighting against destiny (spoiler) kinda thing.

I... more>> really loved how the characters found loopholes and tried to regain their lives. The ending was quite satisfying. <<less
