“Have you ever been sincere to me ?”

Karina Milliner, is known as a villainess in the empire. She dreamed of a happy future after marrying Jeremiah, whom she had crushed for a long time. However, all she got in return was cold indifference and cruel harassment.

“….Even just once. Please sympathize with me…”

“Why should I do that?”

Jeremiah’s voice was clearly in the quiet room.

“Don’t get me wrong. I’ve never given you my heart for even a single moment.”

Karina despairs at Jeremiah’s appearance, who pushes her away and refuses to give his heart to her until the end. Her unrequited love turned into love and hate, and it turned into misery and emptiness.

In the end, in despair, she drinks the poison to die. However, unlike the wind, she returned to the past three years ago. Caroline and the people around her ignore her like in the past. Her indifferent and cold husband Jeremiah, was just standing by and watching the situation.

“I won’t be treated like in the past anymore. I’ll pay you back.”

She makes a firm decision, but things do not go as planned.

“Divorce? No way. I will never lose my person.”

Jeremiah’s eyes, looking at her, flickered with dangerous obsession.

There is nothing much interesting but it's also not too bad. For me the 50 chapters felt just so so because of the predictable plot. Very typical of how FL changes after having gone back in the past. Hires people to work for her & takes revenge without backing down. The story is slow in my opinion, but then again there are 200+ chapters.

My rant

Rather than the story what intrigued me more was the tension & chemistry between the FL & the second ML. Even though I knew through... more>> the cover that the husband will be the ML. After starting the story, I still held onto the hope that maybe by any miracle the author would make Michael the ML. But I am as usual disappointed. It hurts for real. Why would you give more chemistry to the 2nd ML if you are going to end the FL with the trxsh husband. It's truly such a torture as a reader. But rather than my useless worry, what's even more useless is... the ML. What's the use of your extravagant & extraordinary achievements when you can't even try being a good husband & give your wife a benefit of the doubt even if you think she's a spy sent by her family & the King. Use your brain for a little bit & instead of listening to reports go and see from own eyes what's actually the case. But alas, what do I even expect from such novels after reading them for so long. I am also tired of how authors try to justify husbands' as the ML by making the readers pity them through useless plotlines. And after reading the spoilers & knowing that
Spoiler

the FL rejects Michael around 50ish chapters without even listening to his confession because of her past

[collapse]
I just couldn't continue. My feelings for Michael to be the ML were especially strong regardless of his or her circumstances. Therefore, I stopped at chapter 50.

The story is not bad in general. It's just me making a useless fuss because I can't see Michael becoming just a stepping stone for the change in ML's character & the main couples happy ending. For now, I'll just calm down myself thinking that Michael deserves someone better.

I am reviewing this novel without even reading half of the story, so please don't be biased & give this story a read & make your own judgements about it. But for me, I have read enough to know that as of now I don't want to continue it. Maybe far in the future I'll give it another try.

Though I truly appreciate the translations. <<less

Overall, the story is good. However, the translations are incomplete. The chapters are either skipped or incomplete, leaving gaps in the story progression. Crucial scenes are omitted that link to the next chapter. However, none of the chapters are marked as skipped or as Chapter X Part Y, so I can't tell if the translator has forgotten to translate the entire chapter or simply believes the chapter is complete.

You can get a decent sense of the story, but the whole story is missing.

There are many memorable moments in history. I really liked the moment of explanation between the main characters when Karina emotionally said, "There are no us. There is only a divorce between us!". I found Jeremy's remorse in the first timeline unconvincing. A man humiliated and ignored his wife, drove her to death, then suddenly repented after a few words from his assistant. However, in the second timeline, his remorse is quite logical.

I would like to focus on the "Saint". Her mindset is similar to that of a member of... more>> a totalitarian sect or a terrorist organization. For the sake of fulfilling God's instructions, she is ready to sacrifice people's lives and destroy their destinies, she is not tormented by doubts. This was the case in both the first timeline and the second. What kind of god is this who demands such sacrifices?! Could it be the devil? Instead of seeking allies against a tyrant and uniting to save the country, the "Saint" chooses the path of terrorism and countless victims. I really don't like this character. I don't like such a primitive interpretation of the concept of "saints" in Korean novels at all. This is very far from the true meaning. <<less

Is it just me or is everyone looking forward to Karina (FL) divorcing Jeremiah (ML) ?

Karina is an unfortunate girl who was treated terribly by her family, her husband and many others. She had an angst-filled ending, but due to an antidote/wishing liquid (I highly suspect) she went back in time to the time where she had only been married to Jeremiah for 3 months.

Karina quickly seeks a divorce, but the bastard Emperor and his Filthy Father prevent her from doing so. Jeremiah develops a sudden obsession with Karina and... more>> also puts obstacles in place so that she cannot divorce him.

Mikhail is like the second male lead: he is obsessed with her, he is devoted to Karina, he appreciates her and wants the best for her (Why do they give him so much chemistry with this character, if they are going to reject him without confessing?).

Annoying Crown Prince, do you think Karina is your personal amusement or what? <<less
