“My name is Seol Daeyeong. Nice to meet you.”

The transfer student, who was said to have been born to a mother working in a diner and a father whose identity was unknown, had a physique that unmistakably marked him as a dominant alpha.

“An anomaly, huh.”

Jaemin, who had spent his entire life pretending to be an alpha to survive, disliked Seol Daeyeong from the start.

“Or should I say a defective type?”

“Sorry, are you talking to me right now?”

Seol Daeyeong’s gaze, fixed intently on Jaemin, was the first intense alpha stare Jaemin had experienced since realizing he was an omega.

“Not an anomaly, not a defective type. Seol Daeyeong.”

Instead of the scent of an alpha, he smelled like cheap fabric softener. The hand Jaemin refused to shake did not withdraw but landed on his shoulder with a pat.

“Nice to meet you, Jang Jaemin.”

Since that first day at eighteen when they met and ended up in a fistfight, Seol Daeyeong had made a habit of pestering Jaemin. And now, five years later, their relationship is beginning to change…

What a bait and switch story this was. It's an instant 0/5 rating.

---

This is everything I hate about ABO rolled into one. I should have known not to read this but got hooked by the first few chapters.

... more>> I was thinking, wow, we might have unique ABO for a change. I was wrong.

---

We think we're getting a novel that goes against the grain but instead we're slapped in the face.

We think we're getting a protagonist with autonomy and the strength to back it up but instead we're met with compulsory submission typical of an omega.

We think we're getting a protagonist that can hold his own against the ML but we're rewarded by Jaemin who's helpless during heats, submissive in romance and defined by needing an alpha.

---

In all seriousness, did the author ever think carefully about the implications of Jaemin's characterisation and backstory for example?!

There is a huge cognitive dissonance that I just can't ignore. Jaemin is clearly capable, skilled, and powerful yet... If the only way to form a romantic connection is by reverting him into traditional traits like submissiveness, fragility and emotional dependence, then what was the point of initially subverting Jaemin?

---

I think this novel is suited to people that either don't think too much about plot coherency or just prefer reading your standard omegaverse novel with the set expectations that you want a story that adheres strictly to what "omegas" and "alphas" should (rolling my eyes) be "like". <<less

I’m so surprised this doesn’t have more readers. The dynamics are perfect. ML is an ideal balance of an obsessive lover who will not hesitate to do whatever he has to do to get the MC, but also is respectful in many ways about the MC’s own needs and wants.

A surprisingly enjoyable novel. The synopsis did not catch my attention and the MC seemed unlikeable upon his introduction.

However, as the novel delves into the MC and ML's past experiences, I found that MC was a strong character capable of carving his own path in a difficult environment.

The MC is a bit like a stray cat; a cat that hisses and claws to protect itself. The ML is a yandere with twisted thoughts but shows restraint in actions that harm the MC.

Overall, I enjoyed the writing style. Neither the MC... more>> nor the ML are morally ‘good people’ but they fit each other well.

Spoiler

So far, volumes 1 and 2 were the most interesting but the climax perhaps felt a bit rushed. Volume 3 focuses more on the main characters’ dynamic and reveals a different side of the MC. Volume 4 looks more promising than the previous one.
