In her past life, Qiao Jiaojiao accumulated too much merit, so the King of Hell allowed her to reincarnate with memories intact, along with an additional merit mall system. Qiao Jiaojiao happily prepared to embrace her new life, only to find out that she didn’t reincarnate but transmigrated into a book! She became a three-year-old who died early in an ancient romantic novel, with so little screen time that she only had one line. And her entire family were cannon fodders, all destined for tragic deaths!

[“Dad, you were a hero devoted to the country and the people, but in the end, you became a sacrificial pawn in political struggles, executed by the Wumen Gate!”] [“Mom, you were manipulated by someone with ill intentions, separated from Dad, and finally died from excessive worries and depression!”] [“Big brother, you lived an upright life, serving the people, but in the end, villains fabricated evidence, leading to your dismemberment by horses!”] [“Second brother, you were full of youthful passion, guarding the borders for the country, but in the end, you were ambushed on the battlefield, dying in battle!”]

Qiao’s family: “……”

[“Sob, even I died at three, unclear circumstances!”]

Qiao’s family: “What! This is intolerable! No one can harm our Jiaojiao! If the emperor allows the second son to control the Chao Gang and harm Zhongliang, then we will assist the virtuous Prince Rende, overturning the situation!”]

In the end, Qiao Jiaojiao watched her parents lovingly, her elder brother leading the cabinet, and her second brother receiving high honors, feeling utterly bewildered.

Starts off as a fluffy heartwarming story about an OP baby girl and her loving family saving the country, similar to, "The Princess’s Inner Thoughts Were Overheard by Her Emperor Father".

However, it turned into something heavier and the story concentrated on a deceased concubine and her son's story instead. Not what I wanted to read, so I'm only rating this 4-stars.

There's a very long middle section about ... more>>
Spoiler

a deceased concubine's excessive/extreme scheming across three countries and two generations and secret gu (which I don't like), her secret horrific childhood of in*estuous ab*se, and by the end of the novel, the whole story was centred around a male protagonist (and everyone else) fighting against Heaven/Destiny to become "free", like some male-fantasy-isekai novel. Yup, not for me. I did like the fact that all the romantic pairs had happy endings, and the good people were always righteous.

I am obsessed with this novel! After reading the translated chapters I sped to read the MTL. I barely slept in 3 days but I finished it all and I loved every bit of it.

This novel has so many good things going for it and I could spend weeks writing about its strengths but my favorite things are inevitably the characters and the pacing.

Firstly, this story is long and involves a lot of political intrigue so naturally there are a lot of characters involved; however, it doesn't get too confusing.... more>> The author puts much effort into making all of the characters, even the side characters and the antagonists, distinctive and well-rounded. There are several characters that start off as simple archetypes but as the story progresses they get entire story arcs that will blow you away. The stars of the show, the Qiao family, are a lovable, loyal, smart and decisive bunch that you can't help to adore as readers. Although they do their best to protect the safety of their loved ones, they never sacrifice innocents and they're not greedy for glory, because they're genuinely good people. Jiaojiao is super cute and her thoughts are rich, clever and funny. It's hilarious how her family navigates around being able to read her mind without letting her know. She is well-juxtaposed to the original novel's FL and ML. What's more, I love that as the protagonists grow and evolve, so do the antagonists. It's so refreshing to see multiple intelligent people, with reasonable motives, facing off because it's so boring when only the MCs have any brains or goodness in them. Watching the different factions going back and forth, matching each other in wits and courage, was like watching an expert chess game. The author is great at keeping the tension high but also balancing the darker moments with tender-hearted and even comedic moments that keeps the story from feeling overly depressing or heavy. I personally liked the fact that the grimmest parts of the story were contained in the past events, because it helped me create a sense of emotional distance while reading. Additionally, I liked that the author chooses to redeem some unlikely characters too in a way that feels earned.
Spoiler

I was most surprised by how the author flips our initial impressions of the ogFL and ogML and develops their characters beyond brainless and vicious villains to glorify the MC, as this genre often does. I especially enjoyed what the author does with the ogML because he has such an interesting character. At the beginning I hated how ruthless he was but admired his cunning. His inner conflicts were rich and by the end of the story he arguably grows more than Jiaojiao herself

[collapse]

Warning though, the FL spends most of her time in the novel as a small child and the romance between her and her obvious love interest (who's basically like a cute and clingy puppy towards the FL) doesn't officially begin until she's in her mid-teens in the extras. Thus, if you're looking for a straightforward romance between an FL and an ML you're in the wrong place. Of course, there are still many sweet couples around the FL, such as her parents and her brothers and their wives, that make the story still kind of classify as a romance. Ultimately, this story is about how a group of fictional characters come together and unite their strengths to challenge their pre-written destinies. Overall, I really loved this story. It evoked many emotions in me and I could tell the author really wrote the story with much thought. <<less

PLEASE I NEED MORE OTL it's so funny! The whole family and how they love each other is so adorable! I love that the FL isn't the only one being doted on, and that her father is so devoted to his wife that he doesn't have another lover at all!

I had to search for the rest somewhere else. It was a bit long at almost 600 chapters. After I finished reading this I really had to digest it for a day or so before writing a review. Even as I’m writing this I don’t believe I’ll be able to fully explain how I felt. Despite its overall concept of everyone loving the beautiful soul that is the MC, it’s still extremely overwhelming. The author did a phenomenal job with character development, world building, the intricacies of how key individuals... more>> can influence nations, and the characters’ realization of existentialism.

Each character had growth, some exponentially more than others. It questions the right and wrongs of humanity with the MC and her family taking the lead that while all feelings may be justified, right and wrong belongs to the perspective of each individual.
Spoiler

For example, the femme fatale of the story plotted for the demise of her birth royal family by usurping power of the royal family she married into and directing it so her son (OG ML) would win the throne. She did a lot of bad things costing countless lives to set up the chessboard. She knew she was gonna die and her son was essentially guilt tripped into all of this. But her reasons were heartbreaking as well. She suffered horrendous atrocities at the hand of her father and brother. But by marrying as a peace princess, she saved her country from subjugation so her country (for the most part) thinks she’s a goddess but the one she married into thinks she’s the devil.

[collapse]

There’s really too much to unpack. Bottom line, there’s cuteness, family love, friendships, loyalty, intrigue, schemes, angst, and much more. I highly recommend giving this a read. <<less

So far this is a fun read with a slightly OP MC but as another reviewer stated, it shows a lot outside the MC. While not so bad to make the MC feel like a prop, it does reduce her screen time making her almost secondary.

The MC is JiaoJiao, a person who transmigrated into a story. From the moment she is born, her family can hear her thoughts. They all adore her and she begins to grow up in a loving environment which prompts her to regularly share her thoughts... more>> about their fates in the story. However JiaoJiao is still very much a baby, often having difficulty in moving or getting tired easily. She also has a "good deeds" system, allowing her to purchase things if she has enough points (her mother does good deeds in her name once she overhears JiaoJiao think about it).

While there is no ML currently (as JiaoJiao is only a baby), the author seems to be leading up to it being the Western Prince, who is around 6 years old so not too much of an age difference (as far as these kinds of novels go anyway). Originally slated to die in the story, he was rescued by JiaoJiao and her brother which quickly changes the prince to begin working towards getting stronger (physically, mentally and politically) so he can help his older brother (the Crown Prince) and protect JiaoJiao.

The story revolves around the Qiaos, JiaoJiao's family, and how they were eliminated by the two antagonists of the original story. JiaoJiao goes out of her way to ensure the two do not get their initial loving moments which has resulted in the pair never meeting until one decides to use the other.

Spoiler

Originally, the Second Prince and the Female lead were supposed to meet at JiaoJiao's month celebration but once her mother heard that from JiaoJiao, she let the female lead be lost in their bamboo forest.

Second time was at a poetry contest. JiaoJiao peed on the Second Prince which made him leave. In addition, JiaoJiao's brother paid someone to finish off the poetry verse with what he overheard from JiaoJiao which prevented the female lead from gaining notoriety.

[collapse]

JiaoJiao's thought are responsible for a lot of deviations in the original story, even gaining the allies that would have belonged to the antagonists as well as one of the sources of their income.

By chapter 130, the Qiao family has managed to avoid the disasters brought on by the antagonist. While the Royal family is unaware that it is them who have been "interfering", their actions have helped reveal the behaviour of the antagonist to the Emperor.

Spoiler

The Emperor has been favouring the Second Prince because he was born from the woman the Emperor had a one sided romance with (she was a war hostage who became a concubine). He let this Prince put his own spies in the various palaces despite the Prince having heritage from a foreign kingdom.

He also does not allow the Crown Prince to investigate crimes that might implicate this beloved Second Prince.

This all began to change after the Western Prince was nearly drowned by one of the Emperor's Concubines who was seeing the Second Prince on the side (and her su*cide to try and keep the Second Prince from being blamed).

[collapse]

While the Qiaos are a very loving family, the side intrigues of the palace add just enough to the story to make it outside the realm of slice of life. Plus, the family's attempts at keeping JiaoJiao from realizing they can hear her thoughts tends to be fairly funny.

I'm looking forward to how the story turns out. Especially with the potential reveal of a twist coming up (predictable twist but still).

Spoiler

Turns out that there is a very good chance the Second Prince might not be the Emperor's son at all.

There was a teacher hired to educate the Western Prince who was actually from the North. He wanted to make the Empress and Crown Prince suffer so he plotted getting into the pala e so he could assasinate the Western Prince on his birthday.

After he was caught and killed, the northern servant with the Second Prince lamented that the two had never met and even spoke about how the Prince's mother had only been happy when the dead man had been there and that he had been the Prince's real father.

This was overheard by the Second Prince's concubine who eventually managed to escape his palace. She gave a note containing the information to another Prince in exchange for him getting her out of the Palace.

Definitely something I'd recommend reading. <<less

I went into it without expecting much and was pleasantly surprised by how the plot unfolded. I was anticipating the typical storyline of a character transmigrating into a child, but the unexpected twists really caught me off guard in a good way.

Spoiler

I appreciate how the author skillfully utilized all the characters to drive the plot forward, which is a refreshing change from typical novels where the main character is portrayed as the only intelligent individual while everyone else seems oblivious to their peculiarities. One of the highlights of this novel was the transformation of the original female and male leads from villains to allies/neutral

This novel is a must-read for anyone in need of a refreshing story. I couldn't stop and finished it in just 3 days! <<less

What a heartwarming familial love between MC and her family.

This story followed Jiaojio who was reborn (yes... reborn, not transmigrated) into a cannon fodder family who were destined to have a miserable death in the original story. Although MC knew how the story went, she couldn't say it to her family since she was just a baby. Thankfully, her family was able to hear her thought and made an arrangement based on the clue from her thought.

Step by step, her family and friends managed to avoid the death flag but... more>> MC was still on edge because the villain was a formidable one. Yes, one of the thing that I like from this novel was: the villain had depth and wasn't a brainless one. Moreover, he was favored by heaven so MC had to be cautious when taking action. Although most of the time, her family was the one who took action, MC also contributed some ideas because somehow, she was the one who understood the villain the most.

We also could see the growth of the org heroine who at first was conceited by being a transmigrator. I thought she would be a cannon fodder because how brainless she was but later, she surprised me.

Spoiler

She realized how dangerous the ancient time was and regretted being in the limelight that put her into a precarious position. She also came to know that the villain wasn't as he seemed so she chose to cut ties between them.

I love how she ended up with 2nd ML in the original story. Although their marriage wasn't a fairy tale like, they gradually fell in love with each other for real and lived a happy life together.

[collapse]

As for the romance part, you had to wait until the extra because most in the main story, MC was just a baby and toddler and ML was also just a kid. ML realized his feeling earlier but he waited until MC was older before confessing his feeling. If you were curious about who was the ML...

Spoiler

... it was the fourth prince, Shen Yuanling, who grew up together with MC.

It’s an epic novel with a such clever plot. Loved everything even the villains. So glad extras gave the finishing touch. It’s hard to categorize the novel besides saying it’s in ancient china. Ultimately it’s a story of defiance against fate.

The story is decent, but its too focused on the main premise and doesn't give enough time for interactions between Jiao Jiao and her family which could be used for great comedy considering Jiao Jiao's personality.

The plot is good, but some of the characters suffers abit and the novel lack a tad bit depth.

I'd give it a 7\10 cause it is good, the idea is great, it just falls kinda flat at times when I realised how much fun the author could have had with jiao jiao's personality and how... more>> her family can hear her inner monologue. <<less

This is an interesting novel to read with a cute concept: JiaoJiao was reborn in a novel world. She did a lot of good deeds in her first life, but somehow transmigrated/reborn into a cannon fodder family in a novel she read before.

She's just a baby and can't do much to change things... However, surprise surprise!! Her entire family: mother, father and two brothers.. Can read her thoughts! They're initially surprised by the revelation but this entire family adores the little baby girl and they do whatever they can to... more>> change things.

On the mindreading:

Spoiler

Later on, people that JiaoJiao saves will also be able to read her mind lol.

[collapse]

So despite the fact that JiaoJiao is supposed to be the MC, the other family members are the one handling and changing things behind the scenes in other to prevent the tragic end of their family and close friends.

This story has a lot of political intrigue but it is not overly complicated. It's easy to follow, and antagonists are easily defeated once the family has JiaoJiao's input and knowledge.

One of the antagonist, the Second Prince, had the help of another transmigrator which is why in the ori plot, they succeeded in securing a HE for themselves. The Second Prince is not really evil in my opinion, he's just in the usual power struggle for the throne and does dispose of people he thinks will hinder him on the throne. So this entire story is just different people fighting for their livelihood and ideals. Edit: He is pretty cruel and uses people to his advantage. A tyrant emperor if he ever becomes one but pretends to be holy and pure vibe.

The transmigrator is also power-hungry but I won't say she's evil. It's too bad their scheming is foiled by JiaoJiao's ability to know the ori plot and also the help of all the smart people around her. She also has character growth around chapter 200+ and I love that for her.

This story is also slow as it progresses step by step, with minimal time skips.

Translations are okay but there are a lot wrong pronouns and a lot mistaken names sometimes making it confusing.

Take a chance of this if you enjoy a cute MC, mind-reading trope, and ancient time drama.

I did not read to completion because MTL websites had too many ads and viruses so I'm waiting for translator to complete it. <<less
