Very very good novel, I'd say it perfectly matches what I look for in a novel: all main characters are smart, with a distinct personality, the secondary characters enrich the story, the plot is well woven with a nice plot twist that I didn't see coming, slow and believeable progression of the romatic relationship, many moments of subtle comedy and a satisfying ending.

I mostly liked how the author, especially in the first half of novel, enjoyed subverting the typical scenes of a palace intrigue novel making me laugh geniunely. For... more>> example: the classic scene of a group of jealous concubines who gang upon the MC and start insulting her. The Emperor appears out of nowhere and, instead of wasting time listening to the false-flattering concubines, directly order the guards to kill a couple of them and move on with the plot.

I have just one minor complaint, I think the ending of the villain was too cruel. He wasn't evil just for the sake of being evil, he was perhaps a little too narcissistic but had understandable reasons to hate the ML. Considering how the protagonists come from the modern society, I would have expected a bit of mercy. <<less

the tryrant emperor already transmigrated around 10 years ago as a six years old, and he is enduring all those torture and become a little bit crazy because of that

I love MC and ml's characters development. I also love the villain and all those side character

The villain (OG ML) is quite complex. He is one of my favorite villain, and I actually want to see him transmigrate in different world and become an overlord or something, and maybe meet his soulmate. Someone who can understand his ambitions but also can dure his paranoia

I really hope the author will write spin off about all those side couple (Miracle doctor x transmigrator FL and Sickly minister x black bellied FL who hide her identity minister) <<less

I just finished reading this and decided to write a review.

The novel was okay, I definitely don't regret reading this. The plot was pretty engaging, characters were likeable and had many bad and good sides, they weren't too shallow. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that female MC in the second half became too much of a mary sue, everyone was highlighting how great and smart she was, even heaven liked her lmao.

secret guards were said to be small in number, but somehow they were limitless. Yu wanyin had 20 to escort her during Prince Duan's final attack and even before that it was said that their numbers dwindled. There must have been at least 200 or 300 at the beginning or even more.

They also didn't have any personality nor names (this fragment was a bit explained in the story, but poorly and unsatisfactory) so it was easy to add someone or erase. No one could notice anyway.

Another thing which I liked was that the author wasn't afraid to kill off characters. Of course, everyone here was great and written well, but by partying ways with them under dire and sad circumstances, stakes were being raised higher and the whole book scored higher.

I'm loving this~

Original story (at least for me for now, since I haven't read another one like this where they interacted so much with the characters in the book feeling so life-like

The romance felt so natural, like it had to be, no smutty scenes, just a flowing love.

... more>> I used to read BLs and I'm coming to like this BG where the ML had this much personality and not stereotyped and the FLs not forced into being nothing, like SO DAMN LIFELIKE AND NATURAL.

It felt like a roller coaster of emotions, from laughing and feeling it like a light plot, to getting serious, to getting angsty, with laughs in the middle, and varios varios plot twist, to getting me confused and unconfused, to getting hopefull, to making me scared of what was gonna happen, (though with a HE tag u know it ends well, better forget it to live the moment with fear of one of them dying) and then that HE that filled my hear with warmth.

No kids, no pregnancy, the love was smooth, it felt kinda shortened all the story, since FL knew some of it before hand REALLY GOOD it didn't make my head hurt like these novels of hidtorical-ploting-a-scheme-for-power do.

Author, I'm coming to read all your other novels, even if it means I must learn chinese! <<less
