After Yan Xun’s car accident, his memory regressed to when he was eighteen years old. Then, he learned two pieces of news from a friend.

News one: He married a handsome man.

News two: They’re going to the civil affairs bureau to get a divorce tomorrow.

Yan Xun, who was solely focused on his studies, was baffled: “…???”

He couldn’t believe it and immediately demanded the whole story. His friend stayed silent for a few seconds, looking at him with a particularly complicated expression.

“You fell in love with him at first sight, then shamelessly pursued him, relentlessly chased after him, forcefully took what you wanted, and even… well, to sum it up, after a series of bold moves, you finally won the beauty’s heart.”

Yan Xun: “…???”

Forcefully… took what I wanted?!

But he had just won a city-level Model Student award last year and had even helped an old lady cross the street yesterday!

Yan Xun thought long and hard and concluded that unless he was deeply in love with that person, he wouldn’t have done something so outrageous. But—

“Then why are we getting a divorce now?”

His friend gave him a sympathetic look and said:

“Because at such a young age, you… aren’t performing well in that area.”

Yan Xun: “?”

·

On the day they were supposed to get divorced, Chu Tingyun waited for Yan Xun for four hours.

The secretary anxiously called dozens of times, but at that moment, President Chu was sitting in a café, replying calmly:

“I’m waiting for someone very important. I can’t come back.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a familiar figure entered his view—

A young man with black hair, holding a crutch in one hand and a stack of documents in the other, hopping towards him, and directly stuffing a pile of medical reports into Chu Tingyun’s arms.

Breathless, he explained, “Sorry, I… I went for a medical check-up.”

Besides a regular check-up, he had also gotten a s*xual function test.

“The doctor said I… I’m actually doing quite well.”

This little husband who had recently insisted on getting a divorce suddenly reversed his stance, cautiously asking,

“Can we not get divorced for now? Can you… try me again?”

Try him again?

President Chu was silent for a moment, then quietly suppressed a smile and nodded gracefully—

“Alright.”

This marriage wasn’t ending.

·

A long time later, Yan Xun’s memory returned.

He realized that most of what his friend told him was true, with one major exception—the roles of the two people in the story were reversed.

It was Chu Tingyun who fell in love with him at first sight, relentlessly pursued him, forcefully took what he wanted, and even…

Yan Xun: “…”

He finally understood why Chu Tingyun had such a hard time hiding his smile when he agreed not to get divorced back then.

Turned out to be quite wholesome. But, be warned... the ML (bottom) is a red flag... domineering president and a little bit psychotic.. the MC (top) is the green flag... usually the top is the problematic one but in this story the bottom is the crazy one...

Everything was a misunderstanding from both parts because they couldn’t and did not communicate properly.

I was really glad that they talked about their relationship problems after everything came out. I’m really glad that both did not give up on each other. I would... more>> have understood if they didn’t reconcile but I’m happy that they chose each other despite the past. And the development was satisfying... I couldn’t really hate the bottom/ML even though what he did was unforgivable (but I should not like him) :

[/he locked/kidnapped the MC (top) and r***d him] I consider that horrible. And no justification was made to why he made all these. To me he needed therapy.. although he was the bottom, and in the end the TOP was the who reciprocated, it was still nasty. Not to mention, the TOP (MC) was barely an adult.

Okay, after saying that out loud, ML is really problematic, there’s no excuse about that. <<less

I guess the description of this novel already spoiled everything that is going to happen but what I don't like about this novel is the manipulative behavior of the ML like my god your "lover" has amnesia and the first thing you think of when he wakes up from a coma is how to manipulate him into liking you again.

I miss clicked so here is my real rating 2/5. (I'm a sucker for wholesome relationship dynamics)

I didn't start this novel with a lot of expectations.

The reviews were partly negative and the ratings is just 50 percent so I read it because I was interested in the reverse r*PE tag.

The book ended up better than I expected.

... more>> First, the translator did a good work with the novel and I really enjoyed reading it, literacy beauty. 💋 Second, the story isn't for the faint hearted. The book is not just a toxic to wholesome mess, it's real.

The pain of trying to hold on to a relationship, the pain of going back to a toxic relationship because you don't know why, you want to make things work even when it hurts, the pain of holding on to a failing marriage.

The male lead comes off as yandere even abusive but I couldn't help but see the humanity in him, he wasn't just a lunatic, he was a man who just wanted his marriage to work.

Although the main character initially comes off as perfect, you would see some cracks in his character. A man that is self sacrificing, a man that would do anything for the person he loves and funny enough, a man that is ruthless (emotionally and physically to any perceived slights).

The story have a lot of what ifs themes in it, for both of the characters, their pasts cannot be changed, however they have a future to work ahead for. Their marriage isn't perfect, it's hard and bloody, there are thorns and bruises but in the ending, the two characters still hold on to one another because they want to make it work. <<less

You'll have to get over how toxic this relationship is in the beginning. It gets better overtime, growing almost wholesome by the end, but in the beginning of their relationship which we can see in the flashbacks, it was abusive. I enjoyed the psychological exploration of the both of them, and they had a unique dynamic, but not necessarily one I like? It was enjoyable and interesting, but not something I would ship. Basically the amnesia erased the misunderstandings between them, and the two of them became more honest and... more>> open with each other, had more trust and just communicated better, reacted to things more calmly etc. It was a nice exploration of how due their initial misunderstandings they continued to misinterpret each other and it formed a toxic loop. Their misunderstandings actually made sense due to their differences in status and upbringing. But even when they are a healthier couple, it's more of a lust based dynamic than a love based one. Due to that and some other things, it just doesn't suit my personal preference.

The ML (bottom/shou) is a walking red flag, and even after he isn't abusive he still is toxic. I think his character was interesting aside from that. MC (top/gong) is a pretty likeable character, but maybe even too perfect. Other than that I enjoyed the non-romance part of the plot, even if it was cliché and pretty rushed. <<less

ML is predatory, a rapist, and an ab*ser. He has no respect for the MC. He’s not toxic and possessive, he’s an ab*ser. The book is well written, but perpetuates the minimization of ab*se and preaches harmful themes of enduring ab*se to make a relationship work, which simply should not be done. Triggering for former ab*se victims, don’t read.

Starts off mildly disgusting with ML taking advantage of MC’s memory loss to manipulate him. Not an ounce of respect from ML here either.

And the ML doesn’t inherently make the book bad,... more>> the problem is with how the MC is written to react. MC just endures ab*se silently, not even bc he’s deeply in love with the ML or anything, he just seems to under-react and take in everything. His will was violated, his status as a human being was violated, and he doesn’t even report the perpetrator to the police. [Specifically referring to when he was kidnapped and r*ped in a mansion]

If someone ab*sed, r*ped, and violated me, I don’t think I’d hide the truth from the police the moment I got free. MC is understandable for not wanting another human being to die even if they r*ped him and violated his will because he’s still HUMAN so it makes sense that he brings the ML to the hospital, but I physically don’t understand why he wouldn’t report him. The book is well written, but, I repeat, perpetuates the minimization of ab*se and preaches harmful themes of enduring ab*se to make a relationship work. <<less

Holyyyyyyy!!! Surprisingly good!!! Went in not expecting much because of the low ratings, and due to me not reading tags, , , I completely did not know YX is the top and CTY is the shou... had to rewire my brain for that... ANYWAYY I was not expecting any of this to happen. I thought it would be those cliche'd CEO x College student, and with my misunderstanding of the gong and shou, it was like that to me even more.

I surprisingly liked this one. Evrything is against the law... more>> and both of them know that, , but it's not like CTY cares LMFAOO. it's very wholesome, but also a bit of angst. You can clearly read YX's misunderstanding about CTY's character because of his extreme personality, which is just CTY's way of loving someone. Doesn't make it right regardless, STILL!!! I loved it. It hurts so good reading about their past. YX's naivety and sweet conception of romance, CTY's proud and extreme liking, and how they dealt with it. It's just too good to pass up.

Everything about this is just chef's kiss. The way author handled the characters' thinking after the amnesia, just wow. Both of them changed for the better and tried to understand each other more, accomodating and complying, every misunderstanding was solved because finally !!! They learned to talk it out after an amnesia and so on and so forth!!

A little bit of advice, enter this with a clear mind cause you might have a preconceived misunderstanding about CTY before you even read, which will make your reading experience bad. Still, this is a pretty wholesome one. I just love every bits of it. Just beautiful. <<less

This is not a story about a healthy, realistic relationship. Readers beware, read the tags.

I enjoyed the story, and I liked that there was a bit of unreliable narration at the beginning which allowed for some twists/reveals.

But I thought the miscommunications between the MC and ML were s*upid. It was some fairly small matters that could have been easily clarified, but because the MC and ML refused to let down their pride and properly communicate, the issues spiralled so badly into something even more toxic. It was a tad bit... more>> annoying. <<less
