Velia Devere, who dreams of a destined love, instantly falls for a man she meets for the first time at a Christmas ball. Unbeknownst to her, he is the renowned philanderer, Duke Helios Arsen, who leaves a trail of broken hearts wherever he goes.

“If you don’t mind my intrusion, may I propose?”
“And what if I dislike the idea?”

Despite summoning her courage to confess her feelings, all she receives in return is a scornful rejection.

“I like you, Duke. Very much. I’ll share my happiness with you. Take all of it.”
“You’ll regret it.”
“Someday, your heart will find its way to me, my lord. I will keep trying.”
“Then go ahead. Whatever you wish. Until you’re tired.”

Unfazed by Helios’ indifferent response, Velia persists in her unwavering pursuit of him, lingering by his side from the winter they first met until the late spring. During this time, Helios, who had never known love, gradually finds himself drawn to her unique, cheerful, and pure-hearted nature.

However, their happiness is short-lived, as Helios’ fiancée, Roseanne Libern, returns to the capital, causing turbulence in the lives of Velia and Helios.

Will Velia’s heart-pounding first love come to fruition, or will there be too many obstacles in their path?

Only time will tell in this captivating tale.

Some might don't like this type of story but as I read further till the last chapter I find it intriguing how this will develop, like will the FL get tired and decided to stop pursuing the ML while the ML will slowly fall but in a hard way for FL and will be the one pursuing the FL again. This theory makes me interested but sad to say I think no one will translate this book again. So I hope someone out there to please please give this book... more>> another chance. <<less

The desire to review this book is so strong. The author has very skilfully crafted the charecters and they really make you react, either in positive or negative ways. These are the kind of charecters we study in literature classes and do a charecter analysis for. They all have their own situations and everyone is somwhow right in their positions but that is what makes the whole courtship so complicated.

I think the way a reader reacts to these charecters will let the reader know more about their own self, more... more>> than anything else. Overall, a very well written piece. I look forward to see how the author unfolds the whole situation. <<less

I stumbled across this novel because I was immensely bored of the villainess trope, in which every moment of every story would be predictable by its title. And I was pleasantly surprised when this story offers the exact opposite. Bellia, the main character, rather than becoming immensely prideful and obtuse regarding love. She instead embraces it, never letting any moment of humiliation, sadness, or anger hinder her fervent emotion for Helios, the male lead.

In some ways, it is admirable and taught me a different side of love, in which it... more>> does not matter how the other party reacts or reciprocates your love. The greatest joy of it all is never shying away from expressing it. For Bellia, she is a joy for everyone around here, and I could say the same for me as a reader, as she is simply a delight.

However, I felt myself becoming increasingly saddened by the depiction of Roséine, the "villainess" of the story. I see so much of myself in her, the self-made daughter of an entrepreneur who will never be accepted in the exclusivity of the nobles. The constant comparison, the struggle, the desperation, in which she will indubitably fail, is hard to read. Through her, I wish the author would give her more grace and levity than has been given to Bellia. Where her circumstances which it was much more warped and "handicapped, " would be pondered even more.

And so, despite enjoying very much of premise of the main character, I find myself instead rooting for a redemption for the villainess, where she would be able to find peace and happiness. It is an ironic thing where the oversaturation of the villainess trope would lead me to a novel where I very much understood why it came to be in the first place. <<less

Totally Recommended!!!

But...

Idk why people are hating on the FL when it's the ML's job to tell her that he's already in an engagement with another woman. Though persistent she's not dumb enough to still have gone in circle around ML after being aware. Please read this story with a chill attitude without being too hard on judgements. If she's too much for anyone then I don't think you have read worse. While her actions might be embarrassing it's not cringe. I enjoy it & I love her.

As mentioned in another review, it might not be everyone's type but the story actually does get better as it progresses making you curious about the plot. Personally, what I felt after reading the 36 chapters so far is that I loved it. I especially like the way the novel is written. It's beautiful, sweet, lovely & at times feels like reading a novel within a novel.

FL

I think based on one's personal preference & mood, affection towards the FL might vary. But I adore her. She is refreshingly sweet who makes this story refreshing & lovely. Being the only daughter of a Count, she's pampered, views love through books & works hard for that love which in my pov is admirable. Not to mention her parents love story. She's cheerful, lovely, pampered, kind, persistent, straightforward, affectionate, innocent & odd. I wouldn't call her naive.

ML

A regretful ML. Though I can't complain anything about his personality because it's his circumstances that make the centrepoint of the story. Thus, he's slow & conflicted which sometimes is irritating but since he's an inherently good person, I'll be giving him the pass.

Please continue the translations. I am hooked! <<less
