Shen Fubai, the top-tier celebrity in the entertainment industry, is blessed with a stunning appearance but is often labeled as a mere idol with nothing to offer beyond his looks. He has countless haters. When he first ventured into the film industry and collaborated with the film emperor on a drama, he was photographed on the first day of filming ignoring Jiang Heng, the film emperor, and acting arrogantly.

Jiang Heng, a young actor who won the title of film emperor at the start of his career, is known for his professionalism. When he first saw Shen Fubai on set and noticed the other ignoring him as he walked away, he frowned slightly, seemingly displeased.

From then on, rumors of discord between the two spread, and their fans have been at each other’s throats.

Shen Fubai posted on his alt account: “I met my idol today and I’m so excited! Ahhh, I couldn’t even speak!”

Jiang Heng also posted on his alt account: “I finally met my idol today. He’s so handsome, but he didn’t acknowledge me. Crying.jpg”

Later, one day, both forgot to switch accounts.

Along with the usual story discussion, this review is also for those who would like to know the degree of healthiness or unhealthiness of the main couple's relationship and their power dynamics. If that doesn't factor much when you choose a story then I do recommend this one. Otherwise, read on~

The story starts off so well. The MC and ML are both popular celebrities. They're quirky but competent and mature, and only lose their cool when it comes to their idol, aka, each other.

They're adorably awkward around each other in... more>> the beginning, and their bantering was also pretty funny as they started getting closer. The story is genuinely hilarious, and while it has plenty of comedic misunderstandings, there's no angst. The beginning stages of their romance is sweet and wholesome, with both sides respecting and cherishing the other.

If only it stayed there.

As the story goes on, the humor loses its charm and feels repetitive or even annoying sometimes. Random characters are introduced as if they'll be important only to not be utilized meaningfully. They keep clogging the pages for minor reasons. Sometimes it feels like multiple protagonist couples are battling it out for the protagonist halo. I wouldn't be surprised if many of them had their on books that the author tried to plug into this one without actually giving them any important plot to take part in.

The story spends way too much time on the plot of the drama they acted in, even though it's almost identical to every other overdone angsty c-drama that ends in tragedy. It goes through the usual formula using the usual tropes like: love at first sight, forbidden love, misunderstandings and poor communication between the couple, separation, the protagonist enduring unreasonable suffering, a poignant reunion, and the eventual tragic ending. Maybe those who enjoy this type of c-drama will enjoy this drama too.

Once the MC and ML get romantically involved, the relationship that started off equal slowly begins tipping in the ML's favor. They lose their maturity and their bickering occasionally devolves to childish insults. Even the MC's tragic flashback seems not very well thought out. I don't mean the part about the entertainment circle, which was somewhat thought-provoking, but the part about his American family before that where:

the MC's mother somehow, just out of the blue, thinks that the child MC taking out his younger half brother out to play is because... the MC wants to harm him somehow? WTF??? How is that even a believable thought process from a mother who loved her son?

This being the main depiction of his conflict with his family just feels so poorly done. Their reconciliation feels just as abrupt, where there are suddenly no hard feelings anymore after a single word of apology. I wish there was a bit more nuance and thought put into it.

The ML, who started off considerate, becomes the usual toxic love interest who:

  1. Gets jealous over the MC being friendly with anyone, including those who already have a partner
  2. Pushes for intimacy even in public despite the MCs protests
  3. Repeatedly disregards the MC's comfort and ignores his pleas to stop and keeps pushing him too hard in bed, but never repents
  4. Keeps throwing little mean jabs at the MC randomly and unnecessarily
  5. Just generally starts getting his way more and more often while the MC seems to be losing more and more ground in the relationship
It also really put me off when:

In the main story's final chapter, the MC's friends basically force him to wear a wedding dress for the MC and ML's wedding night.

Of course, all of this is played off as comedy. The MC even brings up that the ML has changed from how caring and gentle he used to be, but they brush it off as the MC just having to adjust to the ML's ~true self~.

It's probably not that obvious to most or feel that important unless, like me, things like this actually bother you. Personally, I've come to dislike stories like this that seem to be so insecure about the ML's masculinity that they keep trying to push the MC into being the 'submissive female' in the relationship who has to keep giving in, both in an out of bed. Also, not being able to control one's lower half and leaving your partner angry or upset instead of satisfied after sleeping together is not a brag, but proof that you're just selfish and bad in bed, in my humble opinion.

Of course, even in the deteriorating latter half, there are still sweet moments that made my heart melt and funny jokes that made me snort out loud. The MC is also certainly not a wilting flower and is even better at fighting than the ML (though it conveniently doesn't seem to translate to his stamina in bed). Professionally, neither the MC nor the ML lose to the other, and there are rare times, mostly at the beginning, when their intimacy doesn't feel that one-sided. But for me, the positives ultimately couldn't outweigh the negatives.

All in all, I went from enjoying and being really entertained to becoming uninterested and uncomfortable while thinking, "Oh, it's one of those types of romances again." If this type of story doesn't bother you, there'll be no judgment from me. I'll be happy for you to have one more story to read. <<less

Some events are unrealistic (a given since it's fiction) but there is something about the mc's and ml's personalities that makes it somehow feel realistic. The top feels like a breath of fresh air from all the other leads of the similar genre. He feels more relatable and different from the typical domineering, nonchalant, or calculative top movie star. But he is still insanely rich as with the other tops from other novels haha

The MC is also not the typical Mary Sue. Yes, he's described as insanely gorgeous that both... more>> men and women yearn for him. Yes he's also multi talented. Yes he's at the peak of his career. But he also has shortcomings that he is not afraid to show and discuss. A lot of his current personality is attributed to his well fleshed out background. In short, he clawed his way up from the bottom to the top of his industry.

In terms of plot, I liked the start up to the middle part of the novel. The parts nearing the end felt more like a filler. Although some of the scenes were important for the

, I feel like this part would've been much better if it was written more straightforwardly instead of introducing characters that only serve as a plot driver.

Besides my small complaint, I still enjoyed this novel. Fluffy with some small angst & heavy topics here and there. I was surprised that the author

even gave a solid story with good worldbuilding for the movie that the MC and ML was starring in. A plot within a plot.

Additionally, although it is mainly a lighthearted novel, dark open secrets about the industry are touched upon which also played a huge role to the mc's current state. <<less

I love this. I love our MC, Shen Fubai and our ML, Jiang Heng. Their relationship is so sweet and fluffy, I love the relationship development too. The side characters are also well written, there are so many things that I can talk about how BEAUTIFUL this was written. I won't spoil but I'm honestly glad I got to read about these two.

I liked it. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants happiness/fluff with almost no angst.

MC's background is interesting to me and considering what he did, he's cunning in my book.

I have no clue if a movie like this exists, but the movie was a yaoi tragedy. I really liked the ending of the movie :D it's the little meanness in me

The story wasn't far off from the summary. The plot at the beginning was like that, but the revelation of their Long Mutual Feeling and when the Weibo crash thing was happen near the end of the main story.

But don't worry because then Confessing and Get together didnt take a Slow Burn road nor it rushed.

They both are Silly but Endearing couple. They're both sometimes a Comedic Duo like, but most of time does act like a Normal Adult (?). Lol

The story was Absolutely Entertaining for a Showbiz story with... more>> Slice of Life pace.

It even has the Unexpected Arc in the middle of the story.

Each chapter isn't too short nor too long, so it doesn't feel too dragging nor make you bored.

It's not a story about Faceslapping, but doesn't mean the bad people doesn't get what they deserve.

MC's past was Heartaching, but I'm glad and amazed he can go through all that 'alone' and now he has ML who he love and the one he need most. And so is ML who Love him for so long and in the end never disappoint and truly accept MC and keep loving him dearly.

The Extras gave a this novel even a Solid 111/100 ୧⁠ (⁠ ⁠˵⁠ ⁠°⁠ ⁠~⁠ ⁠°⁠ ⁠˵⁠ ⁠) ⁠୨ and yes, I love this novel that much!!! <<less

EDIT: I misclicked the rating. I would rate this 3/5.

It was funny, but I didn't like the humor that much. The author also seems to like introducing characters that aren't that important, writing up a background too which I think is unnecessary. I actually like the mutual affection/infatuation trope so I stuck with it. But later on I just find it exhausting especially with some unrealistic stuff happening. The relationship of MC and ML by itself is fun and sweet though so I would recommend it. Also some parts are... more>> just beautifully written too. It all just boils down to the humor failed to grown on me so I got tired of it later on.
