Xia Feng, an ordinary young man from Earth, is transported to a world of swords and magic, where he inhabits the body of Lucien Evans, another ordinary young man.

Whilst this new realm appears to be a traditional Western fantasy world, he discovers striking similarities between Earth and this mysterious place—particularly in how science parallels arcane magic.

As the saying goes, “Knowledge is power,” but what deeper truths lie within? Through his exploration of souls, magic, quantum mechanics, the Theory of Relativity, consciousness, music, and reality itself, Lucien seeks to uncover the true nature of this enigmatic world.

This novel is probably the only way for me to enjoy math, physics and chemistry. After reading the novel I always feel like studying more about these subjects as they are explained in a great way, but then I remember how actually boring and difficult they are...

The novel is fun, it contains action, romance and mysteries. It's not the best novel out there but it's still great.

It's fascinating how the author mixes science with magic, creating an unique and original system.

I like that there are so many mysteries, but the... more>> problem is that the author doesn't give enough clues to even try to solve them. You will be completely clueless on his plan and what he's thinking because the author will never give any clues until the matter is already solved, the author doesn't give space for our theories, something I really liked in The Legendary Mechanic.

The translation sadly it's pretty bad, a lot of names are wrong or repeated (like "Lucien told Lucien") a LOT of times, sometimes I can't even understand who was supposed to be talking.

The ending was pretty disappointing, nothing more, nothing less.

All in all, the journey was great, the ending not as much, still an amazing novel.

Absolutely loved the novel. At first I was a bit hesitant as there were a lot of people claiming that it isn’t good and its boring. I just decided to give it a shot and well, looking at the 5 stars above, it was definitely a great read. Some parts definitely lacked but all in all, just give it a shot. You might have to brace through a slow start and some science as well. Also, I too think the ending was rushed but it still ended pretty nice compared... more>> to a lot of CN out there. <<less

This is one of the good novels with proper story. All characters have depth and good world building. I wish I would I read this before LOTM, author has improved a lot in LOTM. However the story was still good read.

This book so far is good but it doesn't tell you a lot of details. As I read the first few chapters there are a lot of mistakes ... more>>
Spoiler

During the rat attack scene after the MC resolves the problem it suddenly mentions a desk with books on it, this wasn't even talked about in the start of the scene but when the plant got killed they talk about the desk like they knew about its existence the whole time.

Spoiler

and with the money making scene when the MC got scammed it didn't mention how he even knew those people. At the begging god of the story it clearly states that the MC has none of Lucien's memories but suddenly he just knew who everyone was and what they did

+3 Magic

+3 Great world-building

+1 Fun to read about music, physics and academia

-2 No story

-1 The "rival" is forgotten

-1 Plot armor -> Everything goes right for the MC

+1 Good romance (no harem)

+1 Very interesting and alive love interest

-2 Really bad fight scenes

Overall: a great story about magic, but without suspense. Nevertheless I read 700+ chapters in around a week. 4*

Its rather unfortunate that this novel is being bashed simply because the author wrote another novel that was better (), which was only due to that novel being a later work.

Other complaints I've seen essentially boiled down to "oMg wHy iSn'T tHe MC jUsT fOcUsInG oN mAgIc aNd bEcOmInG gOd?!"

Again its rather unfortunate as we have plenty of other novels that have instant OP MC's in them that they could read instead...

Especially considering that if this novel didn't exist, the author wouldn't have been experienced enough to write Lord of... more>> the Mysteries as good as it was. <<less

It is this kind of a novel where fights and conflicts aren't even necessary to bring out a great joy while immersing yourself in the story.

The system of progressing in magic is really unique and I've never seen it in any other 800 novels I've read so far.

The fact that mages can create this kind of friendly environment instead of creating factions and slaughtering each other on every occassion feels fresh as well.

The story develops rather differently compared to others and the world seems to be relatively small from reader's... more>> perspective.

MC's way of handling his identities is also different from other novels. Rarely their true identities gain more notoriety than their fake identities.
Spoiler

Albeit it's a shame that he drops two of his identities because of that (one he abandons faking death, the other is simply outgrown in power by his main identity so loses its use). They had a good spot in the story and I liked both the great musician and Mr. Professor having an impact on other characters.

Flaws can be ignored including the not-so-great translation quality (poor or bad choice of selected vocabulary words at times). I'm debating whether it is worth to dig into machine translations and destroy a bit of my pleasant experience as I would love to continue reading.

Didn't expect it to be this good. Totally recommended. At the same time, I can kind of guess now why Lord of the Mysteries from the same author is so popular and given its reviews I bet I can expect even more than of Throne of Magical Arcana. Can't wait!

@edit I love both, the Lord of the Mysteries is definitely better, but Throne of Magical Arcana has things I wouldn't want to part with either. Don't miss them out! The remaining novels of the same author pale in comparison to them as well. <<less

It's a fun story but despite how much the MC says music is just a cover for him it feels like the story so far focuses more on music than magic. I guess it's just a slow build up though. At some point he'll leave the musical city he's been living in and then it won't be a center point.
