I was once reborn as the protagonist of a crappy galgame, only to meet my end by overworking myself to death trying to save the world. But when I opened my eyes again, I found myself reincarnated once more—this time as the female protagonist in the sequel. Determined not to become a wage s*ave again, my familiars, who shared my disdain for working overtime, came up with a cunning plan.

By becoming the childhood sweetheart of the original male protagonist, creating perfect memories together, and deepening our bond through our youth, I could turn him into someone who couldn’t imagine living in a world without me…

Familiars: Now, for the final step. On the night of his proposal, when the ring is slipped onto your finger, a monster will appear and tear you apart before his very eyes. This will surely leave him with a lifetime of regret.

Nagine: ???

Congratulations. You’ve created the strongest protagonist, who will now ruthlessly eradicate all evil.

The novel introduces a refreshing and unique take on the reincarnation genre, cleverly blending familiar tropes with fresh ideas. It stands out by using the galgame concept, which is rarely explored in this type of story. It actually implements the "choice system" to the plot. It indicates a major turning point/deviation. The female protagonist, Nagine, doesn't just aim for a typical happy ending but instead hatches a plan to break the male lead's heart in a way that will haunt him for life. It's a daring and intriguing premise, mixing... more>> humor with a darker edge, which keeps the plot engaging and unpredictable.

What makes this novel particularly noteworthy is its pacing and the depth of its characters. Nagine is not just the stereotypical sweet, perfect heroine. She has real depth and complexity. Her actions, while at times playful and mischievous, have underlying motivations that make her feel like a fully developed character. This contrasts with many reincarnation stories where the protagonists often feel one-dimensional. Nagine, on the other hand, reveals layers of emotion and growth that add weight to the story.

The novel doesn't just rely on familiar isekai or reincarnation clichés either. Instead, it brings something new to the table with its strategic plot twists and the emotional depth of its characters. The emotional dynamics between the leads are handled with care, creating tension and anticipation without resorting to cheap drama or forced conflict. Each twist feels earned and adds meaning to the story rather than just shocking for the sake of it.

Another strength of the novel lies in its balance of light and dark moments. While the premise itself is quite dark, with Nagine's plan to break the male lead's heart in the most dramatic way possible, the novel never falls into a purely bleak tone. There's a mix of humor, emotional build-up, and heart that keeps the reader invested. The shifts between these moods are seamless, which speaks to the author's skill in maintaining narrative tension while developing the characters.

This balance between light and dark is one of the novel's standout features. It isn't easy to maintain a consistent tone when dealing with themes like regret, heartbreak, and emotional manipulation, but the author does so masterfully. Rather than falling into extremes, the novel keeps the reader on their toes by mixing moments of levity with deeper, more intense emotional beats. The story never feels too heavy, yet it also doesn't shy away from exploring the more challenging aspects of its plot, particularly as Nagine's plan progresses.

Another thing worth noting is how the story plays with the idea of agency and control, especially for Nagine. As the protagonist, she isn't just reacting to the events around her, but actively shaping them. This gives the novel a sense of unpredictability, as her decisions don't always follow the typical tropes or expectations of the genre. It adds layers to the reading experience, as we're never quite sure how her actions will affect the people around her, particularly the male lead, whose emotional journey is equally important to the overall story.

The author also does a great job in developing the world-building. While the focus is mostly on the relationship dynamics, the background of the world and its rules are subtly woven into the plot without overwhelming the reader. It creates a fully realized setting that feels immersive without detracting from the character-driven nature of the story. This balance ensures that the reader is always engaged with the emotional core of the story while also being intrigued by the world in which it takes place.

In conclusion, the novel is a testament to how a well-executed premise, when combined with strong character development and thoughtful storytelling, can result in a truly captivating read. The unique blend of humor, strategy, and emotion sets it apart in a crowded genre, making it a noteworthy story. Highly recommended.

(AI Summarized)

PS. Good translations 👍. Also, although it's a CN novel, the story's setting is set in Japan. I actually thought it was a JP WN at first. The early part of the first volume is mostly lighthearted. It kinda reminds me of DDLC, Nagine somewhat resembles Monika ngl.

If you think about it, this is just romcom with extra steps, it's also quite funny how MC's male and 'female' personality are conflicting each other, she's literally having some i-den-ti-ty crisis. I respect how the author actually made Nagine deal with "the monthly CURSE", you don't see that quite often at TS novels.

If you like this novel, try reading Corrupted Blood Salvatore: TS Villain's Unorthodox Reincarnation, they are quite similar. Both are being translated by KatTl

I need to read more RomComs NOW!

I started reading it again after 4 months, and it keeps getting PEAK'er and PEAK'er! Damn... I like this story a lot

I FREAKING LOVE THIS AHHHH.

You almost never see gender-bent romance because, you know, if you know, but when it's done right, it's MUAH, and I like all the characters, and the dialogue is actually funny and nice to read.

If I had to complain about one thing, it would be how short some chapters are.

You don't see a lot of gender-bent novels where the protagonist is actually 'in love' to the opposite gender, and I think that's what makes this one stand out.

The best part of the story is definitely the dynamic between the MC and the male lead. Their interactions feel natural, and they're the most well-developed characters by far. The side characters exist, but they don't leave much of an impression—this story is all about the two leads.

What really surprised me, though, is that this is a Chinese novel. Something about the... more>> atmosphere feels more like a Japanese light novel. Maybe it's the writing style, or maybe it's the translation, but it has a different vibe from most Chinese novels I've read.

Overall, it's a sweet and fluffy story with just lot of actions and a bit of tragedy to keep things interesting. <<less

Ahh, the idea is very good, it's an interesting read about MC who reincarnated into crappy game with monsters as a protagonist. He lived his life a worker (monster killer) with minimal wage, died and then reincarnated into the sequel of the said game. He now a female MC of the game and wants to be the most important woman in the ML life and die so he will become strong and do all the work for MC.

The MC is damn funny. "Uwah, kill me!" Her words every time she... more>> understand she starts to act more girly, and every time she does awkward fan service stuff. Lolol.

I wonder how the story will end I love the writing, translation, plot and the characters! The MC is the true manipulator who shapes the story. <<less
