A man whose arrogance was as effortless as breathing. The noblest of nobles. A man who would set the world on fire for love.

That was my husband, Curtis.

I was nothing more than a wife destined to die at my husband’s hand the moment Irvelyn – his ‘woman’ – became his love.

mu*dered by the very man who once called me his, I opened my eyes to the past. Given a second chance, I knew—I had to survive.

So I began to play the role of a lifetime.

A desperate, one-time performance to escape the man who would kill me again in a year.

***

“Dalia, time… Don’t say the time we spent together meant nothing.”

“And if it was nothing?”

Dalia’s voice was calm, almost detached, her expression unreadable. It was so effortlessly indifferent that it left Curtis speechless.

Never in his life had anyone silenced him. No one had ever dared. But now, for the first time, his tongue refused to move.

Meanwhile, Dalia’s pale lips – lips that had never spoken freely in his presence – parted, her words as soft and fleeting as a lark’s song.

“It was nothing, Your Grace. That time… meant nothing.”

A bond is not measured in time alone. Some fall in love in an instant, while others remain strangers even after a lifetime together.

“Memories that should have been built over time, something to hold on to…”

With a faint smile, Dalia spoke the last words of a relationship that never really existed.

“There was never anything between us, was there?”

This novel reads more like an essay or a summary at times. It feels like events are being reported rather than a story being told. So many paragraphs are just about how amazing Grand Duke Fraser is, and honestly, I don’t see what’s so grand about someone that selfish and self-centered. Is it just because he’s good-looking?

The part where Curtis comes to the conclusion that Dalia is alive is surprisingly weak. The author wraps it up with something like, “It wasn’t logical, but that’s how it was, ” which is... more>> such a lazy way to handle a major reveal.

The second male lead feels completely forced. He sees her, she smiles, and suddenly he’s in love? It just does not land. Also, everyone seems weirdly okay with her being alive again—it is suddenly treated like a given. And the villain? Just a bland character who apparently needs to steal Curtis’ heart... for reasons. <<less

I don't recommend. The plot is bland and provides very little explanation about FL's first life. Don't expect the male lead to regret much.

Spoiler

There is very little explanation regarding the FL's ability to turn back time. The author just says that there are other cases in FL's family history, since they are so ancient.

The ML only starts to get interested in her because he notices that she does not like him anymore. He suddenly discovers he loves her some time after she runs away.

The plot is not very satisfying - the ML has dreams about their first life. Though he was brainwashed, the author does not tell if he regretted killing her later. The plot regarding the first timeline stops with FL's death.

Though the ML says he suffered with these dreams, he clearly separares who he is now and who he was in the first timeline. He doesn't even regret, he's an egoistic type and just wants her by his side, in a yandere-ish kind of way.

The villainess couldn't be less relevant. There is little explanation aboit her powers - the author only says that she had to seduce the ML to be able to fully use her powers. Since the ML is focusing on discoverying why the FL is no longer interested in him, he is now immune to her magic.

FL is the doormat type of heroine. She concedes quickly to ML and goes back to him easily - she was less worried about being killed by him, than about him falling for the ogFL (the villainess).
