This was like cotton candy. I enjoyed it while I was reading it, but at the end I realized it didn't have much substance.

Still it was a good read with the personality of the characters staying consistent. The main character said he wanted a stay life and that's what this story is about.

The translation has issues and it's appeared unedited in parts with gender and tense changes that were wrong.

Light slice of life read. It's only 41 chapters so things developed quite fast. The ending was even more so with the time skip.

As for farming, there's very little farming. Yes, MC live in a village, own lands and rent it out to farmers, but the story itself and MC really doesn't touch much on the farming aspect.

This is more to their happy daily life as family. Not much about farming or business. Author just skipped most of it. A little or almost none drama. Some maybe thinks this is boring, but for me it's good if you want a warm slice of life story with no drama.

Let's not be strict about this.

I read same genre but more detailed. This one is just is for you to read without much problem, if there's one the author didn't complicate things, maybe because it's nothing new.

But all in all. It's a nice read. Short chapters. No innovations cause the MC want's a simple life. The life he failed to have. So you can't really blame him if he just enjoys what he had. Enjoys the simplicity, his family.

If you want a story that had more face slaps, elaborate details.... more>> I recommend this "The Only Favourite Ugly Husband" same genre, the difference is the one who transmigrated is the man. It's also good. <<less

Translation: (3/5 stars) The translation was ok for about the first 10 chapters, with the occasional misgendering of the gets to female. After that however there was a lot of switches from third to first person and back, sometimes in the same sentence, and modern places and items that are not available in that era start to be found. However, everything was still understandable 😊 Thank you translator-nim!

Character development: (5/5 stars) MC and ML stayed pretty consistent through the novel. Because it’s a short novel there really isn’t much on... more>> this front. However, it have got to appreciate the fact the ML was all “you have the power” to the MC. It’s common for these tropes, but it’s nice to see that the ML does not take all of MC’s money or starts to spend it. The kids are also pretty cute!

Plot: (2/5 stars) Plot is pretty straightforward, and for a short read it’s pretty good. However, it feels like the author was trying to include too many different plot points for the length of the novel so it fell flat, especially since there tends to be little to no conflict that’s not resolved in the same chapter. Strong emphasis on the slice of life tag.

Also, the money is not consistent throughout the novel. MC and family should have made more than enough each year just from renting out the land that even with their extravagant spending, they should have had left overs. And when the author wanted to get to another plot point they would either raise the price of everything to where MC started planning on how to raise money, or make it cheaper to the point where you wondered if MC got scammed. There is also the fact that MC cannot be trusted to save or spend money responsibly, and while being generous is nice, he was way to generous with a lot of his gifts.

Another point of issue is that the author would change situations against what they had previously said. This n this case amp was supposed to have cut off all ties with his family, with him repaying a favor to his second uncle for a single night of kindness. Then out of the blue he has a cousin he’s in good terms with in order to create a secondary pairing??? This is sus!!!

The author also seems to forget what they wrote in previous chapters. In one chapter MC and ML sell ML’s old home in his home village to his second uncle, and then a few chapter from the end ML sells that same property to his cousin. That move in is going to be super awkward!

Novel overall: (2/5 stars) this would be a good starter novel for someone who is staring out in her historical settings. It feels like this might be the authors first novel because there are a lot of inconsistencies in how it’s written. And despite the title there is barely any farming. <<less

A good and simple story.

There is nothing like fighting or things that would make you frustrated, angry or the like.

Really like this simple life story.

The only thing I somewhat didn't like quite, is that I really don't see why this story become a BL, because as I read it, many many times, things were like I'm reading a normal BG novel. Really for many parts I felt that maybe if the auther made her novel a BG novel, the novel would be much more better than this, which was good... more>> but it somewhat... how to say it, no natury? Some things and parts you'll feel it's somewhat forced if you remember that this is not a women but a man! As this world have no women, they all men. <<less

Slice of life with no face slapping, no OP MC and no twist in any of the chara's background.

The story is short and has a satisfying ending (although the last few chapters seem to be rushed).

Wish there were extra stories, esp bout MC's family in his original world. Unfortunately, there's none 😢

PS. I didn't expect that the Author of this novel is also that of "Transmigrated into a Parvenu's Ex-wife in the '90s". I like how she built up the mood of her stories

Light-read. Fluff and easy life. Kinda past pace. No terrible plot twists or antagonist. Just their lives from poor to rich. Good to read if you just want to pass your time.

*sigh.. It really such a shame.. To this potential story to be rushed and wrecked by author themselves, the premise is good but on the way of the story suddenly it just lightly mentioned, skipped and make do with whatever they have, I'm glad at least this is definitely a speed train to the honey pot, as for experience when reading.. I think it passable, a bit weird translation but still make sense and understandable

Light read. The story is short, and there's not too much drama, which others might find boring, but it's what I really like to read right now. Relaxing and satisfying ending. If you want slow slice of life stories, I recommend you read this.

The premise is really interesting

  • MC: The body he transmigrated to is a divorced concubine of a magistrate so he was given a pretty 💰 separation fee.
  • ML: Was already married before but his husband died. He also has a child.
However, I didn’t like the progress of the story so much, there’s no drama, can’t also feel fluff and everything is progressing too fast

Below average read but not really the worst out there. Alot of things were unclear, and the ending was RUSHED. The biggest issue of this novel is probably it being not as fleshed out as it is supposed to be. There are novels where even if it is not fleshed out, you can still say that it satisfies the readers with the flow and progression of it because the author actually carefully plans out the information and the plot devices they want to show. This novel on the other hand... more>> had sooooo much potential to stand out among the ger novels out there with the MC being a concubine and essentially being kicked out by his Master. I had hoped that he would atleast be independent for a while before slowly developing the relationship with the ML and I think the author was actually setting it up to be like that at first but the idea was abandoned at like the very first chapters. There were alot of opportunities to put depth into the MC and the other characters. For example,

Qing Mei could have been more fleshed out if it explored what he had gone through with his previous Master (?) and it would've made his marriage with Cheng Hui's cousin sweeter

Furthermore, what happened to Wu Feng and his mother at the end? Why weren't they mentioned again lol. Also I was expecting like a big face slapping to the original body's stepmother and ml's brother but that was also dropped. There was also not another mention of the original body's Master, idk if that's for the better but I was hoping to have him mentioned atleast once just to find out what happened to him.

Overall, the premise is nice and unique but the execution wasn't great. Kudos to Jin ger tho, he was the reason why I stayed. <<less

I give it 3.5/5 ⭐

I finished reading this novel yesterday around 2 am. I started this novel because I wanted to read something light and easy and this novel gave me exactly that! The story is very simple and straightforward, it's a typical "transmigrated into ancient times, became a ger and lived a plain and happy life" danmei. It's good to read when you don't want to use much brain & focus and want to read historical slice of life short story!
