After traveling through time, Jiang Xi found herself as a stepmother in a novel.

In the book, the heroine happily marries a man with three stepchildren, knowing they will be very successful in the future. She works hard to make her new family happy and enjoys a good life.

On the other hand, Jiang Xi, as the female counterpart, also becomes a stepmother but only wants to support her natal uncle’s family. She raises her stepchildren poorly and ends up in a difficult situation, making the heroine look like a great stepmother by comparison.

Jiang Xi’s Reaction: “Whoever wants to be a stepmother can be one!”

To escape her bad family, Jiang Xi chooses to marry her fiancé, who is currently in a coma and considered a poor match by many. She even decides to bring her two sisters with her.

Jiang Xi thinks: With her two sisters and a comatose husband, even with her medical skills, life will be tough.

But then she discovers that her husband is tied to a special merit system he doesn’t know about. After they marry, they automatically form a team. Jiang Xi treats patients and gets rewards like delicious food, but to get the rewards, she must touch her husband’s body.

So, after each patient, Jiang Xi would shake her husband’s hand. Her mother-in-law, thinking she loves her son, is moved to tears.

Jiang Xi: “…”

Until one day, Jiang Xi received the task reward as usual. When she looked up, she saw a pair of shy eyes looking at her: “Daughter-in-law, daughter-in-law?”

Pei Hejun, Jiang Xi’s fiancé, had been badly injured and thought he was dying. He worried his greedy brother and sister-in-law would take his pension. But when he wakes up, his family is happy and honest, and his fiancée is now his wife, who is strong and capable.

Pei Hejun feels inferior because of his injury, but he’s surprised to find that Jiang Xi doesn’t mind his condition and always touches his hand while he’s sleeping.

Later:

When the book’s heroine apologizes to her stepchild’s parents for a fight, Jiang Xi leaves with gratitude from her patients and receives a large piece of pork belly as a reward.

While the book’s heroine works hard daily and is tired, Jiang Xi enjoys delicious treats made by her husband.

When the book’s heroine has a heart attack and is too angry to act, Jiang Xi disciplines her two sisters, making them obedient.

The book’s heroine: … Later, she regrets her choices!

It's ok, not amazing. There are no crazy relatives except for the uncle and they don't show up much.

It seems pretty realistic as the kids in it seem like kids not overly smart and obedient.

I like that the MC has female friends and has a positive impact on them, her character stays consistent (she's introverted and doesn't suddenly become a social expert when the story needs it). She and the system don't feel omnipotent or op.

The ML is vegetative most of the story but that's ok. I don't really... more>> like too much fluff so it was ok for me.

It seems to end abruptly but I get it. These type of stories can drag too much if they go beyond falling in love and getting married. It's nice to actually complete one.

It could do with some extra about the future I think, not about the couple per say but the OG FL and her sisters. <<less

Real Rating: 4.1/5

This is an okay read for people familiar with and following this genre of transmigration stories. Not too much drama and it's not insanely infuriating with c*ckroach-like relatives or villains that make your brain rot that many of these types of novels usually have. Most characters are very realistic, especially given the setting, and overall is quite a satisfactory read. However, I wouldn't say it hits that sweet spot of eventfulness while not being too crazy, so it can get a bit boring and uneventful because of how... more>> smooth it is.

The romance is just okay, not heart-fluttering or dramatic but more realistic and smooth. Both FL and ML are good people and smart. I'm satisfied with the FL's attentiveness too, wherein she is smart enough in anticipating the worst of people while at the same time, keeping the heart of a doctor of clear judgment. She was smart enough to assume that with the character of her relatives, they might attack her siblings and so she made sure to keep watch on them and prepare in advance. Usually, a pet peeve of mine with novels like this is how smart the authors make out the FL to be, but never smart enough to assume that the insanely unreasonable and evil people around her will not attack her, which in turn makes the people involved with her get hurt constantly.

The only downfall is that I felt like the author themselves got bored of it and ended it quite abruptly, therefore throwing out the potential it could be. It feels like they stopped it before the real events of the novel should have started.
Spoiler

It literally ends with them starting a new chapter by moving to the army, and having their first night together (hehe). I also liked how she revealed the system to him, but that's just it, it doesn't really prove helpful in their journey. This would have been an okay ending, however, there was no real resolution to any of the characters, even in implications. The OG FL only gets hints of a better life, but with her character doesn't really feel like she'll get to that point. Her sisters just started school and so we don't know if they'll become soldiers or anything else in the future. The mom was left to be alone in the village with her bloodsucking brother and biased mother, and we don't know if she'll ever change her ways. (Which is sad because although I felt frustrated with her, I also know she has technically been brainwashed and ab*sed to behave so, and although with the character of our FL she will not be left for dead, she will also not have a good life either).

Either way, this was a quick and okay read, just in the lower middle tier amongst the other stories with similar tropes. <<less

I would recommend this book to someone who is recovering after reading an intense book. Its not very sweet and healing but an okay short novel, that somehow relieves you of your weight.

Some parts may seem incomplete and left alone, even the end was cut short but not forced. If the author publishes more extra chapters for the story I wouldn't be surprised as the end still felt like "to be continued". Well it was good considering it was an amateur work.

First of all, too short. The ending feels being forced to end.

So it is a world of book. The heroine is rebirth taking the husband of original owner while MC transmigrate, refuse to be a stepmother and married original fiance who is vegetative.

Male lead bind to "Merit System" but can't communicate but MC can. At first it looks like the system will cure male lead but later the male lead awake itself. All the item that can be exchanged at the beginning only exchanged in the near ending and never being used. The story ends itself with MC trying to have a baby.

The story of what happens later with the heroine of the book never continued.

MC was told to be good at medicine but never really shown the ends after getting the cheat.

All in all the story only spans about maybe less than two years. Not really sure.

MC transmigrate, 2 days later married, about 3 months later male lead wake up, recuperation about 2 month?, back to the army, working a bit and then ending.
