When Lu Ning was young, he was sponsored by the legendary wealthy Zhou Jiayu, and since then, he has regarded the gentle and elegant Zhou Jiayu as his idol and goal in life. He once lamented that if only they had been born in the same era, they might have become friends.

Unexpectedly, after a night’s sleep, he transmigrated into the body of a teenager in the early 1990s. At that moment, he was sitting by the window on the second floor of a tube-shaped apartment doing homework, while downstairs, a group of delinquent boys were fighting. The leader was wearing a denim jacket, sporting a haircut like Aaron Kwok, spewing colorful language, and was the most aggressive.

Moments later, the victorious leader came upstairs. As he passed Lu Ning’s house, he leaned against the window with a cigarette in his mouth and smirked roguishly. “Hey kid, what are you looking at? Do you think your brother here is handsome?”

This person was none other than a nearly thirty years younger, Zhou Jiayu.

Lu Ning felt like crying in the wind… ‘Where is my gentle and elegant idol?’

Eventually, Zhou Jiayu indeed became Lu Ning’s friend—well, his boyfriend.

The 1990s were a time of both opportunities and risks. This era, which once belonged to Zhou Jiayu, also belongs to Lu Ning now.

happy ending for all characters

towards the end, the novel becomes more descriptive - writing style changes. Not sure if it was due to reading MLT.

the 'villains' could have had more development. I guess reading about the smuggling of cars, jewelry, etc did not seem like a crime that deserved death penalty but due to time setting, makes sense. Either way, did not like villains so it was good closure.

felt that the scene where many students also stand up to declare they are gay/les was farfetched, it did not seem genuine even while reading but it made the point of supporting one of the supporting characters.

would have liked more development in business of parents of MC and professions of San Pang and Dajun.

more of San Pang would have been great, liked his romance story

more of Dajun and his partner would have been nice. We know they are together but their life afterwards would have been a good bonus.

Dajun liking MC first and ML noticing when he returns from military service did not affect their relationship. Strong brotherhood. I enjoyed that it did not have the drama that would typically ensure.

more of the roommate of MC that travels to America would have been great. He was not prevalent in novel but his personality showed great changes. I wanted to know if he got the girl or remained as backup.

I could not find the extra so that was unfortunate. Was hoping to see if there would be closure to other timeline with MC alive.

Overall, characters were nice, no maliciousness with them coming out, supportive friends/family, and happy ending.
