The medical student, Luo Chuxia, transmigrated into a book and became the early-deceased mother of a genius villain.

In the book “The Era of the Godly Merchant,” the protagonist and the villain fight until the final chapter, but her character only has three words in the entire plot: Dies of illness.

Chuxia: Huh? A quick death right after transmigrating?

This won’t do.

At this time, the villain is still a little kid, and the male protagonist next door has just been weaned.

As for her, she’s holding onto the stipend her husband, who is conducting scientific research in the Great Northwest, has just sent. She can buy whatever she wants.

Oh my, she loves this life!

Isn’t it just about taking good care of her health and raising a kid? She’s got this!

This novel was very slice of novel type full of mundane things that focused on MC's relationship with people around her, her son's growth, and her son's relationship with his peers.

The beginning of the story was quite heartwarming with MC trying to warm her son's heart who already had a sign of blackening. Naturally, MC did a good job of changing his son into a sensible little genius despite not having any experience being a parent previously. There's also MC and ML's relationship with MC being smitten with ML's appearance... more>> at the first sight and ML who had no idea that his original wife was no more. Very classic.

Later, things got a little boring because nothing really happened in this story. There were several conflicts here and there but it was minor conflict at most and didn't affect MC's life much. Mostly, it happened to the people around her and MC was merely a bystander.

In conclusion, this story was the right choice for you if you don't mind novel with full of mundane things but if you want something more, there were many other better 80s novel out there. <<less

A slow slice-of-life story set in the 80s. I am dropping it at C70 because I was getting bored.

I typically enjoy slice-of-life stories but it must also have some elements of drama/excitement. This story has minimal conflict and while things do progress, it doesn’t make me feel excited to read.

For example, in this story FL and her child are malnourished and poor in the beginning but that’s only because FL’s family took everything from her. Their background is actually not too bad with a good backing from the ML’s family.... more>> So its not really a rags to riches story. FL just needed to cut off her bloodsucking family, make better decisions and change her job to a less tiring one.

Once the initial conflict with her family was over, which was only meh since they didn’t harass her in terrible ways, just typical “pity me” ways - it got more dull. FL also didn’t really take the revenge too far. Its mild.

The beginning of this novel was also interesting because of the child AnAn who was like an abandoned wolf initially tormented by his mum’s neglect. Once FL found her way into his heart and taught him to be kind, he mellowed down. He’s an interesting child that adds to the story.

Side characters come and go and the conflict resolution doesn’t hit right. Like Fang Lingling who likes the ML and wanted him to divorce FL. I last saw her complaining to her mum that she loves the ML and won’t give up but after that there’s no more mention. FL’s coworker who complained about FL at the job that made FL quit... she was going to get married and I anticipated more jealousy issues but it ended just like that after FL quit. It just felt very meh.

FL is so calm and poised and ML is gentle and doting. Bland to read. <<less

Would have rated higher if they close out the end better. The main one I wanted to read about An’An didn’t get a small side story with Qiao Qiao (who I think is the girl he met at the park and went rowing with) hopefully.

I love that the author portrayed the recovery of malnutrition in a realistic way. They both didn’t just magically recover and started eating delicious meals right away, fought physically and won, went on 10km walks, etc. MC didn’t recover 100% she stayed delicate and slightly sickly.

5/5 stars ⭐

My only complaint is that the ending felt a little sudden after so many chapters completing the story of all the side characters.

The beginning was really good, I just wish the focus would have stayed on the main characters.
