Lu Xia ended up transmigrating into the body of a sent-down youth in the 1970s, replacing her older sister who was supposed to go to the countryside.

Thinking about how the original host was mistreated, there was no way she could tolerate it. She sold her job, schemed against them, and then left for the countryside with a sense of satisfaction.

However, it was only upon boarding the vehicle that she realized something shocking – she not only transmigrated but also transmigrated into a novel!

Lu Xia was on the verge of cursing, and at that moment, she also discovered that she was a cannon fodder character. Sitting next to her was another cannon fodder, and across from her were the male lead and female lead…

Since she had come, she had to adapt. Lu Xia couldn’t possibly become cannon fodder, so after going to the countryside, she tried to stay away from the male and female leads and live her own peaceful life.

However, the result was…

I hav read so many slice of life stories but this one was the most draggy I've read. It was very all tell no show, and was dragged way too much. The novel started strong, lagged midway and was lackluster at the end. Wished there was more character development or the like just to drive the story in some way.

You need to be ready for a long read.

It’s slice-of-life where we get glimpse of MC as she does her best to live through each day in the time period she is thrown in, the people she interact with, and the person she decide to build a family with.

In a way, I think she tries to live pretty realistically. The interaction is also cute, and not all side characters are one dimensional. Honestly, I think some of them are people who make bad decisions due to different values and lack... more>> of judgement.

Many people dock point for nationalism and old time values, but again, it’s set during that time period where it’s prevalent so I think it matches the setting perfectly fine. When I want something chill, I’ll click on the next chapter kind of story. <<less

The first few hundreds chapters are really interesting slice of life but after it involved secondary characters that are not so interesting.

Luckily chapters are short even though there are a lot of chapters. FL is frankly not that appealing on her own and ML is the same. Another reviewer said it felt like you were reading the story of side character all along and I agree with that.

Their romance is slow but somewhat cute. The focus is really day to day life in the 70s and progression of their life,... more>> family life and friends. Read it only if you like slice of life genre. <<less

I enjoy these slice of life stories and this is about the 4th or 5th novel set in the 70s that I've read.

The FL and ML are educated youths sent out to the country side with the FL set up by mother and eldest sister while the ML went willingly as a self sacrifice as he was sickly and assumed that he would die out there. The novel focuses on their experiences in the village and how with the FL's knowledge as a transmigrator/time-traveler, prepare to return to the city... more>> when they both get accepted into universities upon the "sudden" college examinations.

Then, it's about their university life, subsequent work, family and some updates on other educated youths from the village:

Spoiler

FL build up businesses and acquire land but not to the extent of other 70s stories. She also doesn't use her space as much while in the city but her spring water allows both her and the ML to live till 110.

[collapse]

There aren't a lot of major obstacles and drama as FL is more of a spectator. Her family issues get resolved after popping up here and there. The ML's family is very supportive although I didn't like

Spoiler

how grandpa monopolizes Kang Kang

[collapse]

The translator is very diligent with daily updates <<less

First of all the name my cannon fodder husband is mighty is pretty redundant as the focus isn't much on him. It's a slice of life focusing on her life after she travelled to the novel.

This is perhaps one of the most well written novels of it's type. It's certainly the best period novel I have read on this platform.

The FL is smart and capable. She's not uselessly OP. Her abilities are measured and have limits. She's able to become successful but it's not because of luck or some golden... more>> finger or convenience. Instead she's able to use her knowledge of the future in a very believable way. I especially like how the authors focus isn't only on the main characters but also on the people around them as well as the events that affect them. I feel like the author made some research before writing the novel. <<less

A good story in the beginning (1-250~), between the story was a bit was boring (slice of life), and after (chapter 400+) it’s was like a « story » of their life... the epilogue was gorgeous...

I was expecting a more intense/interactions clash with the ofl, but we didn’t see much about her... also in the middle of the story we hardly see it her, just mentioned here and there, and the oML we see it even less...

Spoiler

I loved the FL and the ML, but kang kang their first child, I didn’t liked the way the author make him distant with her mother he was only 3 years old and also making him too mature for his age... that was a bit nonsense... if he was my child who was only 3y old and talking like that I will be very hurt and sad... (also in the middle of the story we didn’t see him much with FL and ML even if he was their child..)

Also after in the story we didn’t see much about her power even I forget she have this power in the past...

[collapse]

otherwise the story overall was pretty good and I loved the epilogue I was moved... I even cry a little it was so beautiful at the end!!! I truly recommend this story ! <<less

An orphan transmigrated into 70s into a cannonfodder role. She cooks well and has a space. The space does not offer much, just for storage and planting. Plants will grow same timeframe as outside, just a healthier version.

Her life as she went to the province as an educated youth with the ML. The typical diffulties same from any other novel, then she proposed to get married. Improve their life until they went back to the capital.

Sometimes shes annoyong as a mom, her eldest son was sensible and mature, she'll complain,... more>> her triplets being kids, playful and all, shell complain as well.

She invested and invested in several businesses. Having 4 kids, together till old age of 110 something then died together <<less

This novel is kinda like biography of MC as the story continue until they died, which I dislike personally (like, isn't it enough with a happily ever after?). If you want to read this story a little bit everyday, it might become a relaxing escape from work life, but if you are like me, reading all chapters at once (after the story was completed), it's way too boring. By the end of the story, I read it while thinking "let's just finish this story since I have read this far",... more>> without enjoying it much. I even skip the last four extra chapters.

Overall, I think that there are some many characters that did not have much impact on the plot. I believe it's unnecessary. Also, what's the point of having a space? It existed just to make FL help curing ML illness. I expected FL to use it to develop career in farming business or did other things that could fully use the space, but she didn't. So, why bother add plot about space then, Author? There was not even much thing related to farming besides their duty to farm as educated youth in the earlier part of the story. As someone who love farming story, I become disappointed as I further read this novel. <<less

A good relaxing story to spend time on, without all the unnecessary exaggerating drama in life. Interaction between ML and FL was so sweet that will leave you wishing for more.

Can't believe I managed to finish this novel as it was quite long but truly worth my time! I love the FL and ML and their journey from the 70s to present. It was the epitome of slice of life genre, from youth to old age, with little dumplings adding to the fluff. Thank you so much translator-san and author-san for this gem! Definitely recommended! 🤌

it strated out well, I read until they got into university and move back to the city...

There were many interesting points, the dynamic of the relationship between the main leads was new to me. The development of their love story was nice to see.

There was not much happening with the main leads though, most of what happened was to secondary characters, I don't need an extremely smart or powerful MC but I needed more, I do like reading slice of life but everything seemed to go so easily for the... more>> main leads it was a bit boring and disappointing. I wanted to see more of their hard work and their resourcefulness in dealing with the day to day stuff but it was mostly solved with money and things they got sent by the ML's family so that was anticlimactic. So when they arrived at the city and they already had a house and so much money, inherited from ML's grandmother and given by his family, their 3 years old child being taken care of by others and just needing to go to college and study it was disappointing. Really, watching people get everything served to them in a silver platter is not interesting. At least there was a bit of working done in the countryside. So I will just stop here and leave it at that. It was a more or less good read but I'm not that interested into what happens next. <<less

This novel is very charming.

Our main MC is a transmigrated youth who felt quite ordinary but lucky with lucky finger that as the novel progressed became less mentioned but not meaningless in the slightest.

It has its moments and honesty at times I felt that MC did have her own MC halo with how things settled. But over all it a relaxing read as we read our MC life.

It was such a fun read. Both the MC and ML were endearing. They were so loving, considerate, and endearing. This is one of the very few novels I fortunately read that had just the right combination of romance, adventure, family drama, and, practical endeavors. It's definitely worth reading again since the translation is also superb. It was quite a memorable read.

Fun read especially when they were still in the country side. I liked the story better when it was set there than in the capital. Still a solid read.

TL:DR - Gossip Simulator - That 70's Edition

It's not a horrible read, but I ran out of steam around ch 410 and dropped it. In the first major arch when the MC is in the countryside there is at least some tension as there are times when sparks fly her way, but increasingly she just becomes a spectator of other people's drama. Somewhere in the middle it seems like the MC and her man are happy with the status quo of their lives. It's not that they don't have goals,... more>> its just painfully obvious that it will be trivial to accomplish or that once again it will just fall in their laps for reasons.

One thing this story did get right is how shitty people can be with each other. Melodramatic at times sure, but most of the conflicts have believable motivations, and even outcomes (sometimes). That might not sound like praise but there were a few times I had to chuckle because I've seen similar scenarios in real life. Especially when it comes to the family/romance drama. The culture might be different, but the essence is more or less the same.

I had mixed feelings about the MC's so called golden finger. In many stories it's way too OP but in this one it feels rather underwhelming.

I might come back and finish later but for now it's Zzzzz <<less

it's simply stright-foward back-to-70's-transmiggration plus a golden-finger, with common over-use plot..

But..i love the ML here.. haha..

Just because the fl's hobby of gossiping... he so funny.. he himself hv to follow some update news about someone, just to fill up her curiosity... hahaha

A laid back story, just slice of life and feels like, same as FL, just 'eating melon' watching the side story around her, particularly about the supposed 'main FL' of the book she transmigrated.

While FL said the book's FL have protagonist halo, FL also have protagonist halo herself. Her journey was smooth, she met and married a perfect man, fortunately met with people that made her study and investment bigger and bigger, have great children too.

For ML, he is the PERFECT ML that I ever encounter out the c-novel that... more>> I read until now. Have a vast skills, from great background, so understanding and uplift FL.

For the supposed FL of the book, it left me satisfied with her character. Such a rare depiction on c-novel that the original FL is truly nice and independent, and not making s*upid decision.

Such a lighthearted story. <<less

The first 300 chapters where the story revolved around MC’s life in Da Ying village was actually quite enjoyable to read but I felt that the Beijing arc falls extremely flat, especially if you’ve already read Back to the Sixties. There were so many similarities that I couldn’t help but compare them side by side. I found this novel lacking in depth, particularly when it comes to characterization. I oftentimes ask myself which character is which because they were written like one-dimensional individuals who only serve as a background to... more>> what is alarmingly a bare-bones plot. Overall, this novel is okay to pass the time but if you’re looking for something similar with better writing then I recommend reading Back to the Sixties instead. <<less

Wonderful read! Honestly, it was quite hard for me to keep myself immersed in the story, especially past the 400 chapters point, but getting past the wordy part, the story itself is interesting, and the ending was worth it! (For me anyway...) I was a bit disappointed because I am greatly biased towards the protagonist, and considering how the MC had her own golden finger, I also wanted her to become the most OP, but it seemed like her indifference (laziness) towards power and fame won over my wishes. Alas,... more>> you can’t always get what you want in life.

That aside, I do genuinely think this was a wonderful novel. If you are wanting something more... tasteful... intense... uhh... typical... (?) This probably won’t be the novel for you. BUT if you are looking for a novel to just sit down, take your time with, and slowly enjoy then definitely give it a try. The fact I willingly read to the end without skipping a single chapter despite losing interest says a lot... right? <<less
