I have never read such a fulfilling, heart warming and soulful story in a long time. It has been a wonderful journey, to see all the kids grow up and have their own family... This grandma is so so so so happy!!!

Thank you to the dear author for writing such a sweet and beautiful journey of these group of friends. As you grow from childhood to adulthood you realize how difficult is to have such a bond of brotherhood between friends.

I loved every single character in this story, not just our main couple. There were no side characters that I don't remember. Every character is so 3D and all their relationship are intertwined and complex but still so pretty. They all work for the same goal and trust each other so blindly. It's just so wonderful.

At the end I'll just say THANK YOU!!!

... more>> I quite like the story. It is more grounded than the usual transmigration-typed stories. And it has a lot more heart than I thought. I like the vibe, it's a bit humorous but still down to earth. With found family and all those feels. And of course, my favourite poor-to-rich development for the sake of friends and family and a fulfilling life.

Short Summary:

MC transmigrate to 1983 and saves his sister by “marrying” a famous gangster. He slowly falls in love and the two proceed to make money to provide a safer and happier lifestyle for themselves and the little “brothers” of the ML. While living a gay, in the happy sense of the word, life.

Plot: 4/5

At first, the MC gets to know life with the ML and all that entails. Then he slowly decides to go all in and help the MC make better decisions with his future knowledge. Then comes the poor to rich aspect although they aren't actually poor. But the author manages to give good reasons to make more money by getting to the heart.

Writing/Translation: 4/5

The translation I read is from Reae at KnoxT. Pretty good tl, you can tell that the translator spent a lot of effort going through and making it all as readable and intuitive as possible even though they don't understand Chinese. I didn't get some of the scenes but the vibe of it was still kept. No spelling mistakes and hardly any grammar ones.

Pacing: 3.9/5

The pacing is decent. There was a 3 year time skip before the last 10 chapters but it didn't really rush that much. Things proceeded logically and I didn't feel anything was too slow or rushed. However, in the latter half, things did feel less interesting if only because everyone was at a very good spot already.

Setting/Worldbuilding: 3.8/5

It's not that detailed. There are mentions of different regions and places but only the very bare minimum. I don't really know the differences between all the places except the obvious like a rural village and a town. Or a coastal area and Shanghai. I like that we go to different places though.

Characters: 4.2/5

I love the characters, especially the main couple. The MC is surprisingly funny. He's young but calm and witty. The ML is also surprisingly more lighthearted and free than first impressions. And all the other side characters were the ML’s found family brothers and they are all cheerful and diverse people. There aren't any antagonists for the majority of the story. Just we see their hard work and the results.

Romance: 4.5/5

The romance is wonderful. Lightheart and real with no insta love. They also showed not tell of the romance between the main couple. And it all makes sense! From a forced marriage of convenience to genuine and sweet love with respect for both sides. I love that while understandably hesitant at first, the shou/MC grows to love the ML without noticing by responding to the genuine care of the ML.

And the s*x scenes, the translation of them is not explicit that it's in your face and is more like fade to grey lol. I like it this way. And the personalities of the two people involved are also involved in the process! So it's grounded, sometimes humorous and practical, full of smiles and love. It's nice.

Beautiful. Such a. Great novel this is. It has a good flow and the Mac and ML are lovely.

MC do have a very smooth sailing life, but it was understandable coz he was a top, student and had knowledge of the future.

5 starts for the romance between MC and ML.

It would have been 10 stars if there was smut lol.

I enjoyed the side characters as well and the progression of their own lives within the story.

There’s a wholesome feeling to the story where everything works out for everyone and sometimes you need to read a story like that.

They did have a bit of misunderstanding in the beginning but their personalities match each other very well so everything gets resolved quickly

But more importantly, how hardworking they are is inspiring you know

like some of the people they recruited, I'm someone who's just 'wasting away' in life. When I was young, I had big dreams, I was fueled with passion until reality slapped me hard. The prices for basic necessities keeps going up, the job market is terrible (i have high qualifications but im unemployed right now), I keep worrying every darn night how I'll feed my family tomorrow and life's just too dang hard you know. So reading about MC and ML's journey is lighting a spark in my heart, making me think

should I really be contented, make do and settle for the kind of life I'm living right now? I don't even feel like I'm living

so I wonder. I don't really have a good answer right now, just me venting in this random comment and if I read this comment again years from now, I hope I'm doing better, I hope I've become somebody like MC and ML

One of the best novel I've read. There is logic and realism written PERFECTLY! I say give it a try. Such a unique read for me (freshens your reading experience like a ton).

The side characters were well written, the way our couple solves their issues are reasonable and mature, no unnecessary below the belt dealings with the "villain"
