Good setting. Good potential. Cancerous dialog.

I can't be the only person that thinks that the dialog in this novel is just robotic and boring right?

At first, I simply thought that the translation quality was just terrible. To my surprise, no amount of sh*t translation can explain the long and deliberate conversations that the author chose to bring in here. On top of the redundant translations, I've concluded that the burden is simply on the author.

The story and setting is actually very decent! It's like the start of a hero system... more>> that hasn't been fully established since the world has just been caught with their pants down.

But the characters? One dimensional at best.

The protag? Mixed feelings. I'm pretty sure this guy is being used as a symbolic heroic figure for the transitioning society.

When characters interact via dialog? I'm developing stage 4 cancer.

This novel is a 3/5 at best. <<less

This is the type of TS novel that is for people who actually want to be transgender.

It's not the type of TS novel about people who want a silly story about exploiting female social privileges and having the world as their oyster.

It's short on action, the dialogue is fairly dull, and the MC is a little too gentle with evil people. A minor offender of excessive gentleness, unlike most JP novels where the MCs are almost always eunuchs. So probably appealing to the mainstream of U.S. Society these days. IE... more>> you'll probably be fine with it.

On a positive note, the author actually has a pretty good grasp of the psychology of s*umbags. That was an unusual refreshing positive for this story. It just took a while to get to that part of the story.

I can't call the progression slow, but just the progression between parts of it that I actually care for is slow.

The power system is not much of a system so much as it is an arbitrary thing in the story. As of chapter 26 there is no exploration of progressing one's magical powers. Only exploring them. It's not so much a system as it is an assignment. This is why I am disgusted with most superhero fictions.

If the author actually presented convincing introspection about the gender change and how it affected behavior, then I suppose I might find that part worth reading. But it seems that such isn't the case.
Spoiler

For example, around chapter 26, him-she says that him-she might be attracted to a certain individual if they were a male. There was no previous mention of attraction to males before this. No details about how males make he-her feel that would cause loins-wetting, and no internal dialogue about how this differed from the previous male life.

Separately, he-her also didn't object to wearing makeup when pressured. It seemed like the author was graduating the MC toward being yet another fake-faced female. Do keep in mind that I do not like makeup IRL because I despise that our culture is filled with fake and shallow women. So I find this scene and the story's imagined progression to be more objectionable than the average reader.
