This is a hidden gem for sure. Its been so long when I loved reading a protagonist so much. Our MC is a cunning hypocritical narcissistic protagonist with no moral grounds but a need to appear on the moral high ground. Sounds horrible, but its written well into the comedy.

The main character reminds me of Regressor Instruction Manual but with the protag of this novel being less evil/caring than Regressor. Despite the MC and his equally "non" girlfriend who is is childhood friend and so called mortal enemy as she... more>> acts the same way he does, you can still feel their age. They have a much more mature mind and try to appear so but it also feels like a kid trying to play as an adult (not in bad way somehow).

I really love the relationship duo between the primary female lead and our protag. Despite them being mortal enemies and constantly try to up one another and put the other down, they often unconsciously flirt with each other, and very much so appear like in a romantic relationship to anyone else. The FL is also as equally black hearted but a bit slower than the MC in conversation mind (?) games (Idk how to describe if), which makes her take the back foot a lot for him to only stab himself in the foot due to the position he pushed her in, while the FL has the upper hand in physical moments. But despite how she acts, it really feels like she's just acting that way due to knowing how the MC really is and knows he wouldnt reveal his true personality and be more open with her if she wasn't. Just my opinion though.

The couple duo is overpowered, but it doesn't feel as much so nor is it ab*sed, because the two of them are always doing all they can to avoid doing anything significant, and unlike most crapfest op novels, this one actually has well written comedy.

Though the MC is technically "non romantic", in a way this is a subplot romance. The MC and FL are gold digger tr*sh that are looking to be a parasite of some easy rich person that'll pamper them and do all the housework. And they both have such thick skin and are lustless as they put it as useless compared to their image to maintain. But despite the obvious couple like interactions, there are more than one female lead. To me it feels like a harem. The novel doesn't have the genre tag, but its a gender flopped type world so guys are a minority in those that awaken powers. And every arc there has been a significant female lead that develops favorable feelings for the MC and starts to interact with him in the following arcs. There has also been one extra ML though for the primary FL.

***

Now, despite all the positives Ive written, the novel had some detriments, enough for me to end up dropping.

  1. Every Arc is sporadic (not really connecting at all with the last parts of the story)
  2. Every major Subplot / Arcs have god awful transitions. It literally feels like the former story was scrapped.
  3. Every arc ending isnt really concluded. The aftermath gets mostly skipped over and then there's a time skip like ending chapter that isnt related remotely with what should've followed up, and instead just basically an interaction chapter with their new friends / FL.
  4. Every new arc has one of those annoying flashback spoiler drop chapter as the intro, to which you go back to the parts leading up to it, and by the time it catches up lots of it changed.
  5. The novels too focused on comedy and the core cast. And though the comedy was great, the author doesn't focus at all on background info. We literally have zero info/contact of the protagonist nor primary female leads family. The most we have is the FL had an abusive-like family so she spent most of her time at their house growing up.
  6. Especially past the primary arc, the plot events feel pretty forced and lack a bit logic in my opinion, losing realism.
  7. The greatness of the novel is the character interactions, the actual plot and story takes a backseat and need a helping hand
  8. Some other minor stuff but Im lazy so I'll stop
From the above, as you can probably see, the reason I dropped was just the arcs between tbe volumes in the novel. I really hated how there was never really a conclusive conclusion and a afterwards at the end of each volume. They tried to write it like traditional bought novels but failed abysmally. Then when u go to the next volume everything feels disconnected for a few chapters (chapters are short) as the story flow between events was sporadic. But to top it all off, other than the opening arc, the other arcs weren't that great of story focus things to write on like a tournament arc from early on in the novel...

Lastly note I read off mtl on original site (free) past translation as the translator only translated V1 before dropping. I would still give this a chance, especially as I think the opener arc was great. Maybe it'll be better experience from translation if it gets picked up in future. <<less
