- 'Two Lilies Bloom upon a Wordless Roof' is a beautiful and melancholic story about Shirahama Minami - a shy girl with selective mutism who can't express herself with words, and her lively classmate Kyoka Hinamura - who doesn't need any words to understand her, and whose existence to Shirahama is like that of a lonesome lily in a corner, waiting for a companion, suddenly being greeted by a glistening ray of sunshine pouring entirely into that once-dark place.
The two main characters' interactions were cute. There's this mutual understanding and love between them which is, whether in real life or fictional... more>>It's really cute, and I loved to see them falling in love. Our world tends to be really ableist, so I loved to see situational mutism being seen in somewhat of a positive light. And I liked the writing a lot. I completely forgot about it being a novel with tragedy, so the felt out of the blue and it broke my heart.
