The last 10 chapters really put me off the story. Until then it was a nice cute romance with strong revenge plot, but the author chose to really play up the jealousy bit between father and unborn son and had the ML so something that I just can't forgive him for.

So be warned I guess.

In his first life, Song Song (SS) was mistreated by his father, stepmother and stepsiblings. One of his stepbrother even took his son, pretended to be his twin with the help of black magic and married his husband.

In this life, SS woke up on the night he was about to consumate with his husband to be. He begged him to take him away and Li Xiao (LX) agreed. It wasn't just SS who was reborn but, also LX.

The story then followed the revenge trope most novel had but, SS wasn't as evil. He decided only to retaliate if he was scheme upon. And so, even though he was angry with his stepbrother, he didn't know how to exact revenge upon him as he didn't do much worst yet in this life.

What I like about this novel was LX's family. He was the eldest son of the current Emperor. Because he was scheme upon by his stepmother, the former concubine now Empress, he turn psychotic and the only person who can sooth his was SS. Apart from LX, there was also four other princes from different mother. Their relationship was close because the Emperor made sure to spend time with his kids expecially his sons. So, LX always had a love-hate relationsip with his second brother, the Empress's son.

The novel was short, so it mainly focus on LX and SS and their son. I was hoping for extra on LX other brothers because they were nicely written. Alas, there was none.

4 star is a bit too much for this story I'll give 3, 5 stars. It was very well written which made up for the cringe plot at times. This story is giving pick me vibe, a "I can fix him" vibe or a "stand aside he only listen to me vibe" like pls lmao. The MC was so cheesy but yet very rational sometimes. The ML is the one who made me cringe the most. He's so irrationally jealous and mad all the time like bro calm down.

Not to mention the massive plot holes in the story. I did finish it tho cuz 1 I was bored, 2 it's well written nonetheless and 3 the revenge is kinda satisfying.

I'm giving the same rating as I gave "The Rich and Honorable ChangAn”, but I'm just going to clarify this: this book avoided a lot of 'plotlines' that I really found to be really. F*cking. Infuriating. In The Rich and Honorable ChangAn.

I wouldn't necessarily say this danmei is better, but I prefer it much better than the horse sh*t I had to go through with Nan Xi from The Rich and Honorable ChangAn.

The whole plot about Chen you was unnecessary. Why not incorporate Gers instead of having a sorcerer making pills that can make men pregnant and steal a person's identity? Why would the astronomer have the ability to let others dimension travel? Why would Song Song be a half-cure for Ling Xiao just because he made an unforgettable impression? Does this mean Ling Xiao's willpower is only strong enough when Song Song is involved?

I loved this so so sooooo much 😭❤️ something to come back to.

The only thing I wish is that it had a heck ton more extras into their lives in the future because the one extra it had was kinda... Off lol. Even the translator warned us off of it but I read it anyway and I wish it wasn't the only extra.

Overall it's not perfect but quite an enjoyable read that I devoured in a day. The pacing was good and the story length itself was good. I'm... more>> just sour because I kind of wanted more fluff and rainbows in the end lol.

Edit: 6/2/24 second reread. Still wish we got more extras filled with sweetness. Skipped the actual extra because I know it's off. <<less

I really like this story, the character progression is great and seeing how their goals evolve over time is amazing. The character development is strong, and the main character of the end of the story is a much stronger character in all aspects, gaining courage and confidence.

I got annoyed by the ML's antics sometimes, but he's a flawed character made to be that way. He's a well written character, just like Song Song (MC)

I was more annoyed than I usually was with the ML when he got jealous of... more>> his own son, but that is quickly resolved (by quickly resolved I don't mean one conversation, I mean multiple chapters of the MC making the ML suffer for his s*upidity) with MC getting rightfully angry about it. It doesn't end in my preferred way, but it does end with the ML admitting his flaws and that he was wrong in a clear way, which is better than I can say for a lot of other stories. Slight Spoiler

My favorite part in the story is when Song Song gets mad at the ML for his antics and the ML finally realizes that the "spoiled, tantrum throwing" MC is not what he really wants. He cherishes MC's normal personality more after that, rather than insisting that he should be different, which MC actually talks to him about. Communication!! I'm glad that Song Song kept some of his headstrong-ness and cheekiness from this incident, but it with be great if he'd kept more.

One thing I would wish would be that it was a little longer so we could see our fully-developed characters do more things, since the story ends a little while after we see their true character potential. One last thing I'll say is to not read the extra chapter. The translator said it regressed character development and left them with a bad taste about the story. I didn't read it for that reason, and I believe you shouldn't either. Thank you Translator Infinite for warning us! <<less

Not a bad story, but at the same time no particular intrigue or development that would rivet my attention throughout. I was mostly here for the cute interactions between the sweet Song Song (MC) and the doting Li Xiao (ML). His uncontrollable mania was interesting but nothing major to their relationship. The court drama and greedy villains were expected.

I don't like this series as much as the other novels Ive read, tho its not bad. It seems like a typical "wronged shou MC rebirth" story - like someone else mentioned, there was a lot of satisfying faceslapping as MC and ML combine forces. I find Song Song's tiny mouse-hoarding behavior SUPER cute, that was one of my favorite part of the story. I also found the little inside joke between Song Song and the godlike doctor (I think his name was Ji Ying) very funny. The story plays... more>> hard on the "Only I can save him" or "I can change him" trope so I get secondhand embarrassment sometimes, personally I found it cringey even though ik that's just the setting and Song Song is absolutely not a pick-me. And tbh this type of ML is not my favorite cause of the way he perceives s*x as MC's duty. Despite it probably lining up w historical times, it still gives me the ick. : (As well, as some others might have mentioned,

5 starts for direct face slapping and how the story progress. It's an absolute light novel with tons of fluff and sweet romance. Nothing too deep in this story but I think if you're interested to have a quick read about ancient china, revenge, rebith, romance-themed story. 💕💕💕

The plot and storyline were quite good, we had a resolution in everything that happened to the MC and ML, but to be honest I was dissatisfied and thought towards the end the author kind of "lost" it. As always, when this happens I lose interest in the novel, which means I wont reread it in the future.

so why did I feel the end was unsatisfying ? The main reason is how the ML disregards everything besides the MC. Understandable as in this life he is actually with him, but the child he loved in the previous life is now a rival for the MC's affections. To be honest, this is something I really don't understand even in real life so I guess it really annoys me.

On the other hand plot-wise, the biggest issue I have is that the MC managed to find the doctor that was able to make the ML able to be pregnant, but none of them thought to get him to provide a cure to remove the poison completely. I find that the author thought it was better to keep the ML as a cold maniac person instead of actually regaining his control because otherwise the MC would have been considered useless. For me, that shows that in the end the love the ML has for the MC is really due to the fact he can bring him back to his senses.

Something else that needs to be said is regarding childbirth and how the author just glossed it with only over mentioning the holy medicine, and, of course, no other child.... If it was so easy at the time to not get pregnant why not make it a one-off event ?

I liked the characters and if they were able to truly have a happy ending with everything really resolved it would have been a greater story IMO. <<less

Well! Its one of the normal fluffy story where the tyrant keep pampering his wife. Translation is good as I observed the translator's citation skills are in perfect synch with his/ her translation. Good read to pass the time. May or may not read it 2nd time. I don't know whether translated version will be available to you but till yesterday evening it was there. Its my 1st time writing a review so I don't know whether it will be helpful or but if you want to read the story,... more>> simply go for it without getting influenced by other people's opinions as everybody will be having a different opinion on a different things.

Our ML is a sick child who lost the love of his life (MC) and later reincarnated in the same body. MC is also reincarnated in his same body. MC is quite funny as earlier he doesn't seems interested in ML besides making a baby with him. Ah! I forgot to tell you that MC can become a pregnant due to some medicines fed to him by his step mother (It was an experiment though). Quite number of Flashbacks

This is a really good story if you’d like to read some pampering.

The ML really dotes on MC and there’s really no angst between the two of them, just lovey dovey stuff.

I find the little crown prince very cute too, I wish there was more of him!

jealous the ML gets over his son. Like I get he’s completely obsessed w/ MC but I find it so unreasonable that he pretended to be mute/dead when the MC gave birth, it must have been so hard on MC especially since he just gave birth!!

Good thing MC punished him but still, ML didn’t really feel bad for doing that because he was jealous

Although in the coming chapters, we do see ML coming to love the baby as well but when the crown prince was 10, crown prince just wanted to spend time w/ MC cause he’s still a kid and craving some time w/ his dad but noooo the ML just had to pretend to be sick to drive him away

Loved the story.

You will enjoy it, if you don't dwell deep because there are some plot holes here and there (only a Lil bit)

But it an amazing story, way better than some stories out there

... more>> The loved between the two protoganists was very sweet, albeit the ML was bit too excessive by trying to compete with his own son to that extent, but he's crazy, so yeah it's ok for him to (that's his reason).

I would recommend to give it a try and read it and see if you can enjoy it, it is a good read and the translator did a wonderful job. <<less

This novel is really good!! Fluff

There are some issues but still worth 5 stars.

ML is yandere but a good side. His life's obsession and love is MC.

ML's yandere kind of character was revealed only during last 10 chapters, but somewhat didn't like it much. Clearly he was so gentle to MC from the start till the end, but that gentleness in last few chapters have a different flavor as if it wasn't love. It seemed out of place for me but also seemed expected, cause that's how MC is. MC didn't love ML at the start and he is someone who won't say his feelings out contrary ML always expresses his love but always felt MC didn't like him back. But this is just a very little part, the story of full of fluffiness, love and trust.

But the thing I hated the most was ML's scheme at the night of the child birth, he shouldn't have played with a just labored empress MC with his schemes making him cry and regret. That was really bad. ML who usually understands MC's worries however here acted bad here.

I wished they had more children. <<less

Recommended. Personally, this novel is a good recommendation. It wasn't the best but I'm sure the readers will enjoy it plot-wise. This novel has a common trope: second life, and revenge but what made it unique is the connection tied between their past life and their new one. It was expounded properly and it wasn't forced.

The characters are lovable especially the main character, the uke, he isn't weak and too naive. He knew how to scheme and make his enemies suffer. Also, to those readers who hated unreasonable revenge, this... more>> novel is good for you.

The male lead has the classic domineering and stubborn character but you would understand the reason behind it. The author was able to utilize it in their plot. It also became one of the flaws of the male character the author took time to flesh out. I like that the male lead wasn't healed, like immediately.

Anyways, for other readers, this novel can be a bit boring but if you enjoy the plot and less dog drama then maybe, you will enjoy this novel. <<less
