I absolutely enjoyed this novel!

Highly recommend this!

The several things I love about this:

    • Smart, like highly cunning, and strong MC & ML
    • The politics of ancient china
    • Revenge plot of the main characters
There are also a few points but I won't go into detail so as not to spoil. But readers who don't mind morally grey characters would enjoy this.

But the thing I love most about this is how the ML treated what others thinks is weakness as his greatest strength.

And the translator did such an awesome job! They really did their best to make sure the reader understands the author and gives reminders. Hats off to this translator!

Novel's a bit too unrealistic, even for fiction — but hey, at least it's fun.

I loved the MC and the ML the most. The MC is cool, clear-headed, someone you can't be irritated with. Isn't that rare? ML, though a lunatic killer, is pretty cute, funny, and awkward at times. They have good dynamics and engage in healthy communication.

Although the plot really is outrageous, I think, it made up for the entertainment and well-deserved 'face slapping'.

Double rebirth story where only Song Song can calm Li Xiao down when he’s crazy (From jealousy or anger) and want to indiscriminately kill ppl. So jealous even against his only child (which comes late in the story) !

The translation is great and I also like the translator’s notes which are fun and make things clearer.

Rare story where the villain is not one of the other brothers wanting to take over the throne :)

Towards the end, look forward to the Minister of Records writings :D

Sometimes I need a break from all the dog blood drama novels, and this novel was just right for it. It has its tragic past then rebirth with revenge theme in mind but overall the interactions between MC and ML is healing. The ML is a tyrant towards everyone but is doting and sticky on the inside. MC, having gone through rebirth is more sharp and perceptive but still remain fair and adaptable in situations.

Their interaction behind closed doors are so entertaining. Their back and forth bickering like an old... more>> couple, petty fights, and push pull of one wanting to pamper and the other gradually becoming spoiled. So mindnumbingly sweet.

Oddly enough, we've seen what jealousy can do with regards to Madam Song. And although it very much pales in comparison to the possessiveness ML has for MC, it's a recurring scenario in some novels where the father loves mother so much he doesn't even want to share a fraction of her attention with his kids. But I don't know if it extends to the point where he's pretending to be deaf mute after her birth or if he's single-handedly monopolizing her attention. Kids need parents love and recognition too?? ^^;; C'mon dad, don't be like this or he'll have a psychological shadow.

Frankly I feel like it's a bit silly for a parent to compete with their child for the wife's attention but maybe it's the author's way of saying the ML just loves him that much that even their child can't get in between them.

Hmm, I wouldn't say this is outstanding or one of the best, but it's a decent read.

The antagonist has a brain! Wow~

Jokes aside, I can see the motivations/logic of some of the villains.

The 2nd Empress really made me feel sad. Like she's pitiful. She could've chilled... but she chose to scheme. I dunno, but the innocent crown prince is quite unusual. I've never seen a evil mother+innocent son in an ancient Chinese setting. Usually the entire family is rotten.

The MC is weak, but has a brain. Good enough. The interactions with the ML are cute. Most important of all... THE ML DOESN'T r*pe THE MC. BLESS. I was so relieved to see a non-rapey Emperor ML in an ancient Chinese setting. Of course, he's really possessive, but he never really forces the MC. I don't really like mpreg, but this time it actually had a purpose and was executed fairly tastefully.

The plot and characters are cliche and somewhat predictable, but the story was written solidly. I also really liked the mysteries in the novel: why the MC and ML have memories of the past and why the MC is special to the ML. <<less

THIS IS THE BEST DANMEI I'VE EVER READ

I love everything from start to end. I love how humane the characters are. I love the story, everything feels natural without forced feelings. I love our power couple, Li Xiao and Song Song. They are really a match made in heaven. And their child too, so cute. Sadly his father is a ridiculous possessive man that keep stealing his daddy. Lmao

Thank you for the original author that creates this beautiful story. Thank you for the translator for picking it up and finishes... more>> it in short amount of time and putting it to google docs that are easy to read. I am so glad I found this novel. I hope there will be more fanart or fanfic in the future (as I havent found one hehe).

guys, if you like ancient china royalty + rebirth + mpreg + good story, just read this novel. You wont regret it. Xoxo <<less

A good transmigration novel, and a good pastime too. The narration is nice, not too much dog blood or drama, and the relationship is rather cute. The only thing I have a problem about is probably how ML treats his child. Otherwise, it's awesome.

A nice light story with full of fluffiness but balanced with plot of vengeance. It's just right and the plot is reasonable. The author did good at storytelling in which not to excessive on details but just right.

I found Song Song's (MC) characteristics a bit dull but his character development is steady especially his feelings towards the ML. Li Xiao (ML), my favorite character here, is very childish, crazy and loves to pamper MC to the bone. Both minds think alike so there's no misunderstanding. Supporting characters are also well... more>> written, villains' plots are nicely done and quite reasonable, my favorite from the supporting characters is Ji Ying (The doctor), because he's the only funny person on the story.

All in all, I totally recommend this novel. <<less

It's definitely a good read if you like BL, second chance and palace intrigue. The characters are all likeable and the antagonist are portrayed well, they didn't feel just like a character that's made for face slapping only.

The protagonist and ML also have good relationship development, both of them are clever and actually have hearts, not all domineering and mindlessly take revenge on anyone who slighted them, it's refreshing.

This is my kind of story!!! Just a short lighthearted revenge story. But tbh the last few chapters are a bit weak.

Usually these kind of ancient china novels have too many misunderstandings and/or miscommunications, thank god this one doesn't.

A short, feel gud, sweet read. The reason for the low rating is bcos I think the story was so so. Since I've read many other more interesting stories I cant help comparing. All in all I recommend this novel because it's still cute.

To be totally honest, this book was indeed a little too cheesy and cringeworthy. In fact, it was even a bit ridiculous at times.

But then I noticed that every time the MC was happy, I smiled... every time the MC was sad, I was sad.... every time the story got intense, I got anxious and when something exciting happened, I squealed. If that's not what you call a well-written book, I don't know what is.

The ML and MC are both very concrete characters and are likable. The ML is someone... more>> who is very imperfect yet perfect. There isn't much in terms of character development in the plot. But if you are someone who has been bingeing a lot of intense drama or books lately, then this can be considered a breath of fresh air.

You won't be missing out on much if you have decided not to read it, but it is definitely worth a shot. <<less

I haven't finished the story yet, but I had to stop to review it, this is a brilliant read, a must read, it's lovely story of revenge and fluff, since both characters are reborn there is little misunderstandings between them and the story progresses quite fast. And I love the translation, thank you translator-sama, you did a great job!

I feel like the MC stops being MC in the middle of the story, and change into ML as the MC.

The lack of detail for the support characters such as ML brothers after the big showdown is disappointing. And how all the hope of a nation place in one small child is too much and not rly doable.

But this novel is very good, and I would say yes to re-read it again, why I put it in my satisfied list.

I really loved it. The ML was seriously precious and MC was great too. And I really loved the idea of a mad king. It was also pretty fast and the romance was lovely too. Heartfelt thanks to the translators.

Overall, fluffy without crazy drama.

The relationship between the MC and ML was cute and heartwarming. The ML pampers the MC a lot but also respects him. The MC isn't a pushover and takes charge when needed to. There was enough conflict to propel the story forward but it didn't take the ansty/tragedy route. Also, the mpreg and transmigration is handled well without and loose ends.
