Shen Ci discovered that he was a minor villain in a romantic novel, with a quick and miserable death. He had an epiphany and decided to focus on his career in the entertainment industry, not bothering the main character anymore. But the plot took some strange turns:

Main character (shou): Mom, Dad, I’m your real son!

Father and Mother Shen ignored him: Xiao Ci, get ready to inherit the family fortune.

Shen Ci: Huh? I’m the fake one.

In the drizzling rain, the main character (shou) had tears in his eyes as he gazed deeply at his beloved male lead (gong).

Main character (shou): I’ve decided to leave this place and go somewhere no one knows me….

Male lead (gong), holding an umbrella with a calm expression: Take care, I’m going to pick Xiao Ci up from work.

Main character (shou): ….

Shen Ci, whose acting awards piled up, was sought out by a genius director for a celebration banquet. With a porcelain like complexion, the soft spoken youth was stunning and stole many hearts. The villains from his family quickly approached.

The wealthy big brother from the Shen family: Those with a net worth below ten billion can leave now, save your breath!

Top female model sister: Superstars don’t mingle with ordinary people, got it?

Top internet celebrity friend: You’re just craving his body, all of you get lost!

….The head of Yunxiao Group, Lu Xiao, strolled in, took Shen Ci’s hand, and gently kissed it, smiling at the villains.

The villains shuddered under the gaze of the big villain: Fine, he’s yours.

Shen Ci: Huh?

He tried to run, but Lu Xiao grabbed him and pulled him into his embrace.

Lu Xiao, caressing the youth’s waist, leaned in for a kiss: Behave, leave your mark.

I know I started this... possibly dropped, but can't remember why, (possibly because I have ad blocker and feel bad since translator wants at least the ad traffic money? But I can't turn adblocker off...) so onto the re-read. Second thought is maybe I dropped because ... more>>
Spoiler

the protagonist Bai Ziwei is a typical green tea and kinda annoying

[collapse]
I found my dropped bookmark; I was at ch 26.2 the first time.

Also MC is dense. It's super obvious his "Little Uncle" likes him.

Lol Little Uncle your yandere is showing.
Spoiler

Bai Ziwei "accidentally" spills boiling water on the mc's hand leaving a two week to heal injury and the Little Uncle's reaction is "If you're still angry, Bai Ziwei can disappear" Definitely not a normal reaction.

[collapse]

Shao Jinhuan... is a typical case of not knowing what he had till he lost it. I don't hate him (yet) but also want him to stop bothering the MC. Mostly because he has a super entitled "well you used to like me so therefore I have rights" kind of attitude.
Spoiler

Ok I take back the yet. You seriously claim to have discovered you like the MC but still bring along an uninvited person to his birthday, and even more, one who has been openly bullying mc???

[collapse]

Heh. Shen Bie is a protective brother. xD Although what do they actually mean by
Spoiler

Shen Bie, the older brother just randomly brought home a baby one day after they'd lost their blood related one?? Like where did he get the baby? He went out and adopted one on his own while being a kid?

Really depends on what you like.

The humour is decent, some parts are even genuinely funny, but the story operates on plot amor, conveniences, and everyone loving MC for no particular reason.

ML is a good guy, while he's a bit pushy at times, there's no ab*se, dub-con, or anything else, just a bit of "g*ooming" if being there for someone 24/7 and doing everything you can for them since they were a child is considered g*ooming in your mind.

I'm easily disturbed by such things but even I think it was done... more>> well enough and doesn't come off as wrong or creepy.

There's no real plot, the original Shou and "mystery" around him is brainless, this part is over before it even really started and makes the whole "cannon fodder in a book" completely meaningless.

I'm not sure why the writer chose this setting when there's absolutely nothing to it.

My main problem is the MC.

He's so naïve and innocent that it hurts, and the biggest pushover you can imagine.

His self-agency is non-existent, everyone shoves him around and he does whatever they want; I'm not a fan of this kind of character and it sadly gets worse towards the middle, his whole life is decided by others, he never resists even when he's clearly not willing to go along with it.

The romance suffers as well, he's an adult too innocent to understand when someone flirts with him and he's too innocent to see that he's in love with someone.

Overall, he's too childish for my taste, like a small kid in the body of an adult man.

It's a mediocre story that doesn't offer anything new, with decent humour, nice characters and good romance, but certainly not for everyone. <<less

This is very standard for this genre - it follows stereotypical plot line of adopted MC realizing he’s cannon fodder and breaking away from the book plot. And as tagged it’s heavy on the doting by family and friends and ML (which is what I wanted to read). So it delivers what’s promised in the summary. It’s okay for the genre and I’ve definitely read better. But it’s not terrible. Only negative I’d say is that the plot doesn’t feel fully fleshed out. Primarily because the main antagonist disappears less... more>> than midway into the story. I did appreciate that we get follow ups on the romance for the brother and the best friend. A lot of the story felt almost like slice of life tbh. Overall not bad. <<less

I feel sorry for original shou, the one before the transmigrator... I really wonder where he went and feel like the story would've been so much more interesting with him. I'm also curious as to how MCs parents would've behaved if transmigrator had showed up AFTER they accepted orig shou. Lots of loopholes and MC feels really flat like a piece of cardboard could've taken his place and nothing would've changed. I also don't really understand the behaviour of the adults around MC, technically they spoiled him to the extent that he behaved brainlessly in prev life, same as how the transmigrator is behaving right now. The only one I really feel is normal is the orig gong because I feel he's atleast making decisions based on his own observations rather than some brainless affection that has no origins...

I found this novel fluffy up to the point I read. It’s a no brain consuming plot. Very typical MC doted by every one novel. So it’s very relaxing to read.

I normally MTL novels to read the rest, but this I’ll come back later to finish off

My review is a little biased since I read this immediately after reading seize the throne and this novel ticked me off in the wrong way. If you want to read something sweet after an emotionally exhausting novel and just switch off your mind then go ahead and read this. Like the other reviews mentioned it's just people doting on the protagonist which I really don't understand because he doesn't really have much going on for him character wise but I didn't finish reading it so I might've missed something.... more>> As for why this novel ticked me off
Spoiler

When the real son first appeared, I really liked him and he was a nice person. I think he could've gotten along with the MC and MAYBE the two of them could've been brothers. But unfortunately some random annoying dumba$$ transmigrated into him and he ruined everything.

again emphasis on I didn't finish reading the novel so maybe it has redeeming aspects which I didn't get to. <<less

To me this very much feels like fanfiction level writing and storytelling. Give this novel a try and you'll know what I am talking about (i don't think this is fault of the translation). Especially in the way the characters are introduced (very cliché and cringey imo). I also can already tell that the story is not executed well (MC realizes he's a character in a book because of recurrent dreams and his character is instantely very different than before).

This type of story has been told numerous times so I'd... more>> recommend just reading a different novel with a similar plot. <<less

This novel is a very cliche niave young master type of story, which I'm usually okay with. Sometimes after reading a bunch of crap trying to be edgy I find comfort in the cliche. This was just too badly written.

The writing is juvenile, the story illogical and the MC too niave. It read like a bad novel inside of a transmigration/rebirth novel. You know one of those ones where the transmigrator is explaining the previous novel and we as the reader ask "why would an author really write such idiocracy?"... more>> Well I found said author.

The MC is too naive for my liking, but ultimately not bad. The ML is the cliche cold CEO. Not much to him. The family acts completely illogical. The og ML is okay and the og MC got the absolute short end of the stick.

The whole time I couldn't help but think this story could have been so much better if the og MC stayed in it. Could have been a completely fluffy uplifting slice of life story, but no. The author used a transmigrator to turn og MC into a clown. Even if the transmigrator had a little bit of brain cells this story could have at least been mediocre.

The backstory of MCs birth could have added some excitement into the story, but it gets explained quickly and was anticlimactic. The family's way of handling it was kind of a let down.

The romance is sizing up to be the annoying type so I don't want to wait around for it either. Will drop this here and probably not read again.

The translation is fine, no notes though so some parts/puns get lost in translation. <<less
