Bai Feng transmigrated—and he has a younger sister born with Immortal Bones.

He initially thought that as long as he clung tightly to his sister’s thigh, he could live a carefree life in this perilous world of cultivation. Until he woke up one day to discover that his mother was preparing to extract his sister’s Immortal Bones and implant them into him.

Only then did he realize he was holding the villain script!

Right at that moment, the System appeared. As long as he targeted any Child of Destiny and seized the Child of Destiny’s providence value, he could receive generous rewards.

At the same time, however, if he plundered too much providence, it would draw the Child of Destiny’s wariness—or even outright hostility.

Looking at the three Children of Destiny in this single city, Bai Feng decided—forget it!

Whoever wants to be the villain can go ahead; there are already three Children of Destiny in this one city alone. He didn’t even dare imagine how many Children of Destiny might exist across the entire world.

So, when the sects were recruiting disciples, he avoided that sect full of Children of Destiny. He also steered clear of those professions they frequented. Every day, he would just draw some ecchi arts, listen to music, and do whatever he felt like.

Many years later, Tianji Tower had the opportunity to interview some Children of Destiny who were close to Bai Feng, asking them for their thoughts on him:

Child of Destiny A: “No one understands Bai Feng better than I do. He’s nothing like the rumours that claim he coveted the Immortal Bones out of selfishness. On the contrary, he has no interest in Immortal Bones and has secretly been protecting his sister all this time.”

Child of Destiny B: “Many people call me a Child of Destiny, someone fated by the heavens. But in my opinion, Brother Bai is the true favored son of heaven. He’s warmhearted and upright, walking the path of immortality with an ordinary body.”

Meanwhile, Bai Feng, who was watching this interview, slowly tapped out a ‘?’

They’re slandering me!

And you bunch of Children of Destiny—stay away from me!

TLDR: First part of novel was pretty good, and stood out from others of its genre being unique enough. But the quality starts dropping once we go past. The main side characters are all distinct, though the antagonists are cardboard cutouts. The general plots are all pretty cliche, with bigger plot forcing/armor the farther you get in the novel. I still recommend giving it a try, particularly to long time NU readers, but it isnt in the wowzer territory

Was a pretty enjoyable story, but Id give it a 3.5. Like... more>> as novels often go, the latter chaps start to somewhat drop in quality. Im pretty strict reviewer though, and I think the NU rating should be higher. The translation site is an atrocious experience and likely where most 1 stars come from. Though its smart on the translator to boost it on the NU rankings which are registed by chapter clicks, it leaves the readers with an awful experience, especially considering how short the chaps are.

The story is a classic xianxia with its own unique twists. A modern MC trying his best to lay low and avoid all the world's countless protagonists. He has an op system, a system he actively avoids. Why? Because by harvesting points from doing villain things towards those heavenly protagonists, it causes the heavenly dao and those protagonists to target him more and more. The system being ignored for so long lowers its standards and gives him points whenever it possibly can, often using excuses / over-embelishments.

The MC, avoiding the destined children, found a new hobby. Becoming an underground ecchi artist. With his modern knowledge, he completely overturns the nsfw art world, creating avid fans for his penname. And from his gradual uprising fame, he starts to get affected

Unlike most harem novels, its somewhat fresh air as its one of the rare novels that have relevant male side characters, and each main side character for both genders are not cardboard cutouts. They got their own quirks and personalities. But the same can't be said for the antagonists. The antagonists in this novel are as cliche and forced as you see in most Chinese novels.

Now going back to the start of my review. It really feels the author just lost their drive, and in turn from me reading this non stop, to reading less and less. One of the main reasons the story quality dropped is its one of those novels where the author drops the premise. The first arc with the art mesh, system comedy, and family plot; it stood out from the others of its genre, as we followed our lazy young master MC. And all this, was completely scrapped from the next arc. Now its a lazy protagonist playing house and being a typical Chinese xianxia novel but with more plot forcing and cliches than the norm. There art aspect which was a main staple for the novel is now pretty non existent nor relevant which is a big bummer.

There is also the harem saturation too. Rather than the amount of characters- though there's a lot already but not directly with him yet -bringing it down, its that other than his adopted sister, the others fall flat. I did say the characters have their own distinctions, but this is really only for the significant characters. The side chars with less screen time, are well, just the side additions. The worst one being the Su character. She

literally went from arrogant spoiled girl archenemy to mellow submissive braindead statue to be plot armored/forced into his harem as she developed an inner demon which only he can quiet down. I really wish this char was just never introduced at this point. Shes now a quiet yes girl. No personality except for suddenly developing one when forcing antagonist plots for those that lust after her 🙄

As I said, it wasn't just that everything the first arc set up was basically scrapped, the main part is just all the developments become low quality. The MC started to have his personality warp into our typical arrogant Chinese main character for every conflict/plot, a complete personality overhaul.

This would've been tolerable with how much sunken cost you've invested by this point, but the author really can't write conflict plots at all in my opinion. Everything is just mega plot armor, reinforcement, and forcing. Not to mention all the developments, mainly antagonists are all cliche as you get. This is partly to match the protagonists commonly seen in other xianxia novels, but its just too much, and its not like all his conflicts are with destined protagonists.

Overall, the plot resolutions honestly felt kind of inconclusive / rushed. There are many times when I feel like a lot more should've been added in, and all the plot armor / forcing really takes you out to the backseat for a bit. That all being said, I think the novels still worth a shot, especially for those that read a lot as it makes fun of the other xianxia novels and has its twists; but its not the greatest quality <<less

This is a classic chinese harem xianxia novel. Pretty decent for those that enjoy the genre, but definitely not a masterpiece. Though the title describes it like a villain novel, MC is your classic xianxia protagonist, being misunderstood at the start and eventually having his reputation restored and the MC is definitely not evil. The only thing different about this MC is that ... more>>

Characters aren't one dimensional, each have their own little quirks; His most interactions are with people of his own circle rather than Child of Destiny making them truly background character (except for his sister). The protagonist does truly feel like a man from modern time thrusted onto a cultivation world as it continues to play a big part in the story rather than quietly fading onto the background.

The golden finger he has, a system, truly overpowered to the boot but I think it plays a comedic role rather than anything,... more>> even the system itself isn't a serious one as it cracks jokes from time to time which makes me feel relieved, if the MC with a plot armor like this don't realize he's in a comedic cultivation novel and start acting like he is MC of a serious cultivation novel it would be an awful read.

Overall everything is good, except the website. Truly atrocious, I believe this is where most of the 1 stars rating comes from, there are no next-previous button on the website itself. I was told I need to scan a QR code to download the app to continue reading which I did but once I tried to connect with my Apple ID it told me there was an error, to remove Apple ID then to try the exact same way. Brother never in my life had I thought it will be so hard for me to read a novel but here we are, I am keeping novelupdates' tab open just to click on each chapter as I read.

In fact the story itself is comedic, fun, light-hearted & well written. An enjoyable read but the web experience is truly terrible. <<less
