I've read a couple of other VTuber novels before, but the gimmick of a returner unironically recounting her own life (and being permanently misunderstood) provides a unique source of comedy.

But it's not just a quirky premise; the details of her backstory are written well enough to be interesting on their own (while simultaneously being plausible as very committed RP).

Add on top of that the fact that she's getting addicted to a VR game because she's missing the constant battles from the other world (although not the underlying conflict). There are... more>> also signs of remaining trauma that would be appropriate for someone who had to fight in a war from a young age (although the total mental age should be higher because the life in the other world was a full reincarnation rather than transmigration or possession of a grown up character. Not that that would make one immune to the personal losses in war and the horrors of battlefields.

I really like this so far. Them among to forget how odd they seem is a Lil weird since they originally lived in a similar earth. But pushing past that.

I really like that the story gave us time to get to know our MC. It gave more depth than most V-tuber stories and knowing her as well as we do at the point she does start v-tubing makes reading the chat and comments all the better.

I love this so much. I'm a vtuber fan in real life, and normally lore is just an excuse to have fun, create some inside jokes, or set up a theme for some streams or videos. For those who are a bit more dedicated to the RP, they'll reframe their real life experiences in the context of their lore. But what if someone's lore was their real life?

The great thing about this set up in the story is that while it's a main source of comedy, I could see it... more>> legitimately being a successful concept in real life, because the MC's "lore" is well written and interesting enough that, even without too much detail, it can stand on its own without the streaming element.

The MC is also an unexpectedly fleshed out character. She's clearly very much affected by her past life, and it has obvious effects on her current life. Her memories are not just some backstory that gets referenced every so often to explain why she's OP. No, the backstory is very much real and influencing the MC even to the current day. Would recommend for anyone who likes the streaming genre and/or vtuber genre. <<less
