Throughout the time spent in the game world, Mako is adamant on not falling in love with anyone, because she wants to return to her own world. Her friend, Subaru, suggest that they may be able to return to their own world if they allow the game to reach its 'Happy Ending', which would require the Heroine to build a relationship with the main 'capture target', Kiritani Riku, also known as 'Prince'.

On a side-note, Mako also ends up developing a sister-complex, which ends up making the story even more hilarious. Luckily, the complex is kind of returned by her sister, and they develop a mutual sibling-complex.

However, Mako encounters several of the 'capture targets', they begin to fall in love with her instead of her sister, the Heroine. Since the beginning the story has been edging in several different types of 'capture targets' with different personalities to differentiate them, however, it becomes clear that this story isn't going to end in a 'harem-end'. Mako slowly falls for one of the 'capture targets', Tsubaki Soutarou, who has been consistently devoted and doting towards Mako, and the least problematic of all the 'targets'.

Just as a note, the author does go into a couple of chapters to flesh out some of the problematic characters. Although, I do understand why they exist, since in an actual Otome game, there generally will be characters that are problematic, I'm not particularly a fan of them. Luckily, they're only the primary focus for a few chapters, and Mako does not end up particularly liking any of them.

Throughout the beginning and middle of the story Mako was constantly trying to deny her own feelings, which really added to the sense of conflict between her decision to love or to not, since she believes that this is all temporary. And, considering she's experiencing a culture-shock from becoming a male, and may not know the norms for male-bonding or the new alternative world, I am more willing to accept that her actions may actually be a product of her previous world view – a slightly loner-ish and tomboy-ish Japanese girl.

However, we don't see Mako going through with her decision to pick any one of the characters, until she realizes that her sister has already chosen someone - Takayanagi.

However, I am a bit sad that Mako won't be able to return to her own world though, but it seems like she'll be able to live an enjoyable life in the alternative world though. It's a bit open-ended whether or not Mako or Subaru will ever return to their worlds, and if that will create any complications. And, as a reader, we aren't certain whether the real Makoto will ever return, and where he has gone, now that Mako is still residing in his body.

MC and her friend made it look like they ran away together when they transmigrated back to their world. But Mitsuki refuses to part with her brother and summons them back and MC and friend have to deal with that aftermath.

Like seriously what’s going on with Mako’s switching between guy-girl bodies, will it be a continuation issue or will he need xxx to maintain the male body? (Because like when Soutarou kissed Mako, she turned back into a He).

Then I also want to know if Mitsuki is aware that Mako isn’t her real brother or not.

I also want to know what is it that Subaru also wanted to do before returning to reality.

Then finally I would like it that if ever Mako returned to reality then Soutarou and co. Would actually be real people who were also playing a role, so the Happy Ending could continue in reality. Instead of arbitrarily ending it where it did.

For most of the novel I can actually relate to the MC a lot, because she is just extremely disinterested in all of the romantic pursuits from the harem of men she accidentally amasses (the MC is in male body 99% of this novel, she regularly refers to herself as a woman still so I am using she/her pronouns). Her blatant disregard for their feelings for most of the novel, or the desire to just remain friends/ not accept affections from these guys is something I can actually understand, being confessed to all the time, not being able to return those feelings sucks, and while the MC is very flippant, I think it’s also a bit unfair her actions are labeled as “cruel” in the text itself. It’s interesting to see how she views things from both a male and a female perspective. She does kind of play with the boys feelings but it’s because she literally just wants to go back to her home world... the dudes were kawaii but were all pretty flat, kind of archetypal.

The MC reads as a closeted lesbian for 80% of the book (which makes me even more frustrated when she actually does get with one of the guys by the end). shes... lowkey homophobic "even if im a girl in a mans body, theres no way two men could be together!" yet her mental descriptions of the other girls she sees (the sister she now has after transmigrating) are extremely Not Hetero In The Slightest. she fawns over her sister so much that the other characters dub her a sis-con (shes in male body, the body is blood related to this girl shes been fawning over). Also, her extremely strong emotions and infatuation with her best friend told at the beginning of the novel are intense... basically admitting that she’s one of the only people MC has at all. Especially cuz MC was loser neet girl in previous life with no friends except for her female bestie (who made the otome she transmigrated into, her best friend is a fujoshi thats been shipping her with all the yaoi dudes) BASICALLY! Vibes are off. Makes me wonder if she was in love with her best friend even if its not stated explicitly...

Most of this lowkey lesbian nonsense isnt the forefront of the novel. It’s moreso about MC having fanservicey moments with the dudes she accidentally seduces lol.

The MC is almost overly detached from the situation she is in. "I'm in a highly suggestive position and literally love flags are popping up everywhere? Ok, maybe it's a misunderstanding!” Please. One thing I did was that they talk pretty openly (MC and her best friend) about MC’s feelings about s*x and dating etc as a male, which I actually appreciated a lot, however moments like these are minimal at best for such a short novel...

By the end, the author ended up opening more plot holes, making me very confused as to what the author was really going for. There was no proper explanation, only added and unfinished scenarios. MC had the threat of returning to her original world, plus she basically declined the advances of all the dudes for 60+ chapters, then she suddenly admits she likes one of them and is okay with kissing? And she stays in this world in this male body, even though she said she wanted to go back for most of the novel???? Just so rushed and forced out of nowhere.

the guy she ends up with was the one with the most screen time / development and WAS the best “match” for her, but plot wise it still doesn’t make much sense, as she’s been unaffected by Soutarou (lover) all this time, even thinking things like “I feel nothing” for as long as she’s been pursued. Not that Souta isn’t cute, but this doesn’t really feel like a natural development relationship wise. It was obvious the author was setting them up together, like Souta gets trice as much time as any other character...

She ended up choosing Soutarou, which I really don't understand because he just feels so shallow. All he really does is follow her around wagging his tail, idk someone like Kaname feels like there's more depth to them. To begin with he fell in love way too fast?? Esp since his setup is a straight guy and they were good friends, wut.. This relationship feels more like a parent-child pet-owner etc.

Since she ends up choosing him, I have higher expectations for at least his character development, but nope. The other ones aren't that much better; I feel like the author tried with Nakabayashi (the president) but it fell short and the Prince in particular is so lacking.

My personal favourites were Takayanagi and Kaname, even Ichigo, so I'm sad the first was chosen by the sis and the second wasn't chosen..

This is a HE and MC will eventually pick only one person. (Its pretty obvious from the start who it will be tho)

Aside from the typical harem, where all capture targets surrounds MC, we will get to see some side chapters about these side characters which also involves some of the capture targets.

It's a good read if you just want to pass some time. You'll see the stereotypical types like the tsunderes, hyperactives, flirts, serious types, etc. Given that the world is an otoge (Otome Game), which is pretty popular for girls in Japan

I appreciated how Makoto tackled them throughout most of the story, but the transition from friendship to love was weird. You can't feel the chemistry at all and he's talking about treasuring friendships and liking everyone equally throughout most of the novel, then he goes "he's my soulmate!" the very next chapter - a complete change to his personality.

Then, there was no ending with the other characters. They didn't deal with rejection and some sort of insight into what life would be or what they would do next. Are they still even friends?

His sister Mitsuki who did something major and was a big part of his heart - was then never talked about again.
