As you can see, I’m only at ch 18, so I haven’t even finished the first arc yet haha

This is an unlimited flow novel, but different from any other I know, with game rules like Dungeon and Dragons, rolling dice! This setting alone seems pretty interesting, also the mysterious connection between MC and ML (if there is any? Tbh not sure what exactly is going on haha) and MCs past (maybe different from what we know??? Or maybe not)

It’s probably a really interesting novel, but... I don’t know why,... more>> I am not hooked just yet??

Spoiler

contrary to what I expected when getting to know MC at first, his character setting is a young master running from home, who’s extremely smart and is good as memorization? The thing is though... maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t feel like it fit him well?? Can‘t really PinPoint it, but just... he seems like an OP MC, who had plot armor smartness?

Or sometimes, other characters reaction make it seem as if his one decision was sOoOo smart, they’re so amazed (what is in my mind, is MC choosing to roll a die for something when in the gut and a stranger is approaching, and KP (basically the game master) is impressed, moves his hat downward to cover his face (you know, in the cool way) and smiling while murmuring „well diner or something that MC did not understand :)

Anyways, MC sometimes seems artificially OP?

[collapse]

This just kind of irked me?? It’s nothing major, maybe because I JUST finished another novel with smart OP protagonist, but that made sense, considering his past and all. And here... I didn’t feel the „makes sense“ part yet :/

I may continue reading, I may also put it indefinitely on hold haha who knows, just wanted to share my first impression with everyone~

Tbh the dungeon and dragons setting is the most interesting part! Love it haha <<less

Thanks a lot, translator/s, for picking this up! I really like this one as the;

  • Plot is nice and engaging.
  • Novel was paced well, it may start slow at first but it'll quickly pick up its pace.
  • Settings is quite fresh to me, it's not your usual UF novel settings. (Look at the description for a clue for the settings of this novel.)
  • Characters are great! They're unique and have their own characteristics.
  • Arcs are entertaining and they're distinctive to each other. It kept me going until the end.
  • Romance is so well written!
  • Ending ended nicely.
The settings might be confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it. Overall, I highly recommend it if you liked or got interested with the description.

There's way too many names and either the author or translator even mixes them up sometimes. The characters are playing infinite flow games that incorporate roleplaying and dice checks like DND. It's a cool concept, but also means that at least in the first arc each player is referred to by two names, their character name and their actual name. It's really hard to keep track of them all, especially when many of the characters don't have particularly noteworthy personalities.

Additionally, I personally hate when a story doesn't start at the... more>> beginning and there's an implication
Spoiler

that the MC and ML have been part of the system/ players before but neither remember it.

I personally hate that kind of plot. But that's a personal preference. <<less

The concept of integrating a tabletop/Dungeons and Dragons style approach into an unlimited flow is a fun and fresh idea. However, like most people recounting their personal DnD campaigns, it falls pretty flat, in my opinion. The pacing is slow, the dice rolling mechanic is clunky and gets in the way of plot progression. I’ve seen another novel utilise dice-roll sanity checks before, but they did it while writing their novel in order to add some unpredictability, and it worked far better than having an in-universe DM.

The beginning is very... more>> slow. This novel is supposed to have 185 chapters in total, but the first world alone is more than 30 chapters! And, more importantly, most of those chapters are decently long and contained nothing but dialogue, dialogue, and more dialogue. I feel like I read a solid 30, 000 words and yet didn’t regain more than two or three character names, and, since the entire plot was just people talking, it was as dry as old bread.

It might just not be for me; I’m looking for more traditional and action-based threat-filled unlimited flow, not a weird detective RPG. Other readers seem to have liked it, so if you’re into detective stories and enjoy something a little slower paced, maybe you’ll like it! But if you’re looking for that ‘strong protagonist unlimited flow’, you won’t find it here. <<less
