Jing Li failed to succeed in the tribulation and transmigrated into a novel with a s*umbag gong and cheap shou.

In the novel, the s*umbag gong is a typical phoenix man who climbed onto the rich young master for his future, only to turn around and pursue his true love, the white moonlight. After seizing the young master’s family fortune, he dumped him and got together with the white moonlight.

And Jing Li happens to be the young master who got dumped, and he is immediately confronted with a scene of catching his lover in the act of cheating.

At that moment, the s*umbag gong protects the white moonlight with one hand while sorrowfully shouting at him, “You don’t trust me? If that’s the case, we might as well break up!”

Jing Li watches the show and readily responds, “Good! As you wish.”

He then proceeds to retract all the resources he had given to the other party.

Not only that, but afterward, every time the s*umbag gong comes to entangle him, he inexplicably starts having bad luck: either he chips a tooth or sprains his foot when going out, or even just drinking cold water would choke him into directly landing in the hospital…

The Koi Fish, a beautiful young shou, is pursued by a scheming black-bellied big shot in the entertainment circle. This story is both exciting and sweet.

The three stars I gave were because of the translations. They were really good. Though a little bit of proofreading would've been better, since some paragraphs were repeated. The sentence structure was smooth and there were very few grammatical errors and typos.

Now let's talk about why I gave it only three stars if the translations didn't have anything to complain about.

It was the story itself. The plot was generic, the ending was rushed, the writing style was very immature and more often than not, the cultivation part just felt like... more>> hand-wavey nonsense. I wouldn't have disliked the story if it had just been a simple slice of life, or a mary sue story, or just something with brainless fluff. The author tried to make this story something that it could never be, and ended with this trainwreck of a plot.

You know how there are some mysteries where you go "how is this surprising? Wasn't it obvious?", ones where you want to hold the characters by their shoulders and shake them while asking "did you exchange your braincells for some beauty?!". This was it. It would've been fine if the author hadn't tried to force the aura of mystery into the story, they clearly are not great at writing suspense. It just felt so flat and unnecessary. It felt like the author started it with great ambitions, got really motivated in between and then towards the end, they realised they were tired of this and ended it prematurely.

Yes, the ending is so rushed it gave me a whiplash, especially with so much filler in the early chapters. It seemed like the author wanted to put in cultivation, face slapping, showbiz, fluff, romance, mystery and tens of other things into the same story, and honestly, if they had done it any other way we would've ended up with a masterpiece but the way this ended, it was more like a trainwreck.

It was cringe. It was cringe. It was cringe. Important things must be said thrice.

Then why did I give it 3 stars when I obviously hated the story so much? The translations. I'd rather have a bad story with good translation than have a good story absolutely ruined by bad translations. Also, it had the things I liked, like transmigration, face slapping and fluff. Yes, I'm shallow like that. It's pretty brainless but it's kinda fine till the halfway point, aka the point where we don't even know there's a mysterious organisation and an evil, evil villain who dies within two or three chapters of actually coming into the scene. After that point, it directly crosses the boundaries of "time pass", straight into the area of "time waste".

So read it if you've got time to waste and you like suspending your beliefs. Otherwise, you might get an aneurysm due to the sheer s*upidity of the novel. <<less

It is quite good... it's a mix of cultivation and entertainment circle but it doesn't excell in either of them. Still it has an interesting plot and quite a few mysteries.

I don't understand why some people say it has unsatisfactory romance or that it seems abrupt, it clearly shows how they fall for each other and after they get together it's quite sweet. I smiled so much I seemed silly.

Other than the romance part, I felt like this novel was well-written. No boring moments at all. The flow of the story was really good.. I just don't understand the romance part. The MC and ML doesn't have any romantic/sweet moments, but they just suddenly thinking of each other. They just suddenly like with each other. Like, there's no build-up at all. And because of that, imo, there's no chemistry between the two of them. They barely met each other, ML is already friends with the MC's big brother but... more>> only met MC just at the beginning of the novel, and suddenly they have feelings for each other. Like, what?? <<less

Don't believe a word in the description. It is a feel-good novel about a protagonist with a golden finger, but all of the face-slapping is fast, and there is no such thing as bad luck following the villains, the s*um gong disappears almost immediately (and one face-slapping is totally omitted, like author forgot about them). The ending is quite fast-acted and abrupt, no extras, so yeah - feel-good novel about entertainment (just like many others).

I would give this 4 or even 5 stars just for the story but I really really find Jing Li somewhat annoying, so it is 3 stars for him.

As another reviewer said, it was cringe. To hell and heaven and back. I simply had to stop reading and go walk around for a bit

You know how when you see someone and you feel like they are trying toooo hard to be cool instead of it being their natural personality? That is what I got from JL. Man was trying too... more>> hard.

Also, it was kinda unbelievable how no matter what he did almost everyone loved him. He replies with a thank you or with gratitude when someone praises him (AS EVERYONE DOES) and people think he is the best thing ever for JL saying thanks 💀 these things really annoyed me.

I loveddddd Jing Yi, the older brother. I wish we had gotten more of him. He just disappeared at random times for multiple chapters. <<less

I like the story but everything goes almost too smoothly. There's not much tension because everything goes perfectly for the koi. People who be likes get lucky and people who try to attack him get severely reprimanded. I was reading this in conjunction with "Dare to Take Me as a Stand-in?" and honestly got them confused - there were parts of each story that felt like they came from each other. I think the lead couple in this story are more reasonable though. And I love the cute relationship between... more>> the koi and his brother. <<less

It’s a cute story and easy read. If you want to read a sweet love and career story with some interesting parts due to a cultivation subplot and some minor face slapping, I recommend this story. Nothing too thought provoking happens. Everything goes smoothly for the MC and ML.

The main focus is on showbiz and the MC’s career. A decent amount of doting by MC’s brother and the ML. The romance builds up. And finally there is the backstory of MC’s previous world and the cultivators (specifically demons/spirits that cultivated... more>> from animals/plants) of the current world. We get the overall plots nicely tied up in the end. The climax was short and the ending to the conflict resolved quickly but that’s not too bad.

Spoiler

The story starts with MC waking in an unknown world after tribulation. He resolves the OG!body’s problems quickly. And then feels obligated to help the OG to achieve his childhood dreams of acting. That starts off the main body of the story - show biz and acting.

We get hints that his senior brother is his current brother and it’s true. MC meets ML through his brother (they’re close friends). We get a lot of doting from the brother and ML.

As the story progresses, we learn that ML probably has some history with MC.

Throughout the entire story, MC is trying to figure out why he ended up in the world he did and gets involved in a darker situation with the main antagonist who is best described as an evil cultivator.

Side characters are introduced to become friends with MC, be minor antagonists/involved with the conflict, or to move the cultivation plot line along. The initial romance and fake white lotus antagonists (problems that the OG!body faced) are resolved quickly and never really show up again. There definitely is a lot of faceslapping happening in the beginning 1/3 to 1/2 of the story tho. But MC and ML are almost OP and never have a true issue that can’t be solved with money, power, and/or a good smack down.

The brother and ML regain their memories in the end. And we also learn how the MC ended up in the new world. It’s all a happy ending.

It was an enjoyable read. The MC, ML and the MC's brother were all endearing.

I cannot give this novel a 5 star rating though because the MC's punishment for the camphor tree and weasel demons were quite lenient. It made me feel like the author was just rushing to complete the story.

4.2 my 5 starts is for uphold the ratings.. This actually simple yet meaningful smooth sailing story, but we need moreeee, at least a bit of their daily interaction after became dao companion.., I enjoy our MC interaction with other characters, and also his determination after he realize he like ml.. It's so cute to see them fumbling to figure it out about other person feel about them, the sweet became sweeter but I just think their time for each other was not that much :'' idk maybe that's why... more>> I eager to saw them together in many frame <<less

It was good! Technically it only touches on the s*um boyfriend and the little white lotus for a second, and then after that a mix of antagonist keeps showing up... It's more of a story about unravelling what happened to the heavenly dao in the world and what's going on with the demon. It's a simple, short cute fluffy story. I liked the ML's character at first when he was awkwardly flirting with the MC.... but since they got together they're spreading wayy to much dog food for me!!! Extremely... more>> cavity inducing sweetness...

Plot progresses step by step, not too fast or not too slow, but I feel like it could've been wrapped up in less than 100 chapters... Still though, it's a solid novel. Nothing to complain about here!! Good read!! <<less

First they make it sound like MC transmigrated over just as the cheating was being discovered, but then it sounds like he was actually transmigrated a bit sooner and has already met all the family? Weird discrepancy, but one I can overlook if the rest of the story holds up. (They do double down on that he was transmigrated at least a week or so before the opening scene of the novel, so maybe it was my misunderstanding?)

Also I'm starting to wonder a little if it isn't that MC... more>> failed his tribulation, but that this is his tribulation in some ways. (Ch25 guess)

Also, was this tagged slow romance? Because this is slow romance. As of ch 44 they barely know each other! <<less

Truth is I loved this one and the story is more than what it says the description. Loved our koi, the ml, the brother, the friends, I loved them all.

Yeah, is kinda cliché but has it's charm. The ending was slightly rushed and would have been nice to have extras but it's ok.

Recommended, might reread when I don't remember it anymore.

The main summary of this novel only lasted for like 20 to 25 chapters. MC is very decisive when making decisions against minor antagonists or side characters. For the rest of the series, it becomes his (easy) journey to stardom with the subplot of cultivation on the side. I'm not too sold on the romance between MC and ML. As their own character they can stand out but as a couple? They're kinda meh.
