To elope with Jiang Wangshu, the wealthy young master, Duan Xiuze, stole his household registration book and ran away from home. After marriage, he plucked the stars from the sky, held them in his palms and gave them all to Jiang Wangshu.

But alas, the good times didn’t last long. Duan Xiuze had a car accident and lost his memory. All that’s left was the time from when he was 17, back when he and Jiang Wangshu were still bitter enemies.

Jiang Wangshu thought it’d be fine if he lost his memory. He was confident in making the other party fall in love with him again.

However, Duan Xiuze found him immediately after he was discharged and wanted to divorce him. He threatened by saying, “The 23-year-old Duan Xiuze must’ve been bewildered by Gu to marry you. Aren’t I just a pure and innocent high schooler?”

Jiang Wang scoffed and agreed to the divorce on the spot. “Friendly reminder, we signed a prenup. You have to leave everything if you want to file for a divorce.”

Duan Xiuze was dumbstruck — What the hell? Is he out of his mind?

But for the sake of his innocence, he gritted his teeth and left.

After the divorce, Jiang Wangshu received a huge sum of money, he was even followed by a small fresh meat. That day, he gave the little wolfdog a private birthday party. He was so comfortable, he completely forgot he had an ex-husband.

Duan Xiuze returned to freedom and was so happy, he set off fireworks at his door for three days straight.

When asked if he would regret it, he said with a serious face, “I have a deep-rooted hatred for Jiang Wangshu. At the age of seven, I vowed that I would never shake hands nor make peace with him. Ever.”

When this remark reached Jiang Wangshu’s ears, he sneered and sent a message asking, “Deep-rooted hatred? For exposing that you wet your bed?”

Duan Xiuze was so angry, he broke his phone. He really hated Jiang Wangshu. He swore he’d never regret his divorce in his life.

Later, Duan Xiuze’s search history gradually increased ——

“How can I cut off my ex-husband’s peach blossoms without appearing like I want him back?”

“Is a man’s self-esteem important?”

“How to win the heart of a prodigal ex-husband?”

“What kind of washboard is comfortable to kneel on?”

[I've read up to chapter 84 (the most recent one) so my thoughts are limited to this part of the story.]

Just as unrealistic as TFGR but not as fun nor entertaining.

The author tried to be more serious here and the plot itself is more detailed.

... more>> But I honestly just found it annoying because the balance between serious drama and foolish/nonsensical humor was just off. It's a story that suffers from an identity crisis and oftentimes, the author couldn't keep the pacing well.

There were times when the narrative has finally built up to a good turning point, only for the momentum to be punctured by the attempts in keeping in line with the "foolish gong" concept. That concept worked well in TFGR but not here, because the setting is a lot more serious.

The "foolish" gong here isn't as endearing as in TFGR either. Actually, even the MC eventually felt flat. There were times that I felt pained for both of them but the more the author dragged on the story, the more annoying it was. The feeling is like when you choke on food but you just can't get it down even after downing a glass of water.

I think I would've enjoyed this if I hadn't read TFGR beforehand. <<less

If I had a shot everytime they used "...", I'd die of alcohol poisoning in the first hour.-

It's still in its early stages, both the raws and translation, but so far it's pretty good. Funny, kinda casual, with a bit of drama.

MC is described as your typical "cold and indifferent beauty" but he's also capable and a bit sarcastic/sassy, which I do enjoy.

ML is, as the title suggests-- a little silly. I like him, he's fun. His whole Taobao ordeal confused me a lot though (never used it so ),... more>> could've used less of that.

I liked the side characters too, well, more or less. I hope they each get their own happy endings.

It's also made by the same author as TFGR, so there's that.

I'd say 4 for now, but to balance out the ratings I'll go with a 5. <<less

The first part of the novel really left me frustrated. Maybe its just me, but it really felt unfair that over half of the novel, the gong is being blamed for divorce. I thought that the MC would at least try to make the ML remember their love. But after the amnesia, the MC just gives up without even trying. After that, its just the MC disliking the ML forb being immature for half the novel.

Spoiler

The MC thought that clinging too hard would make the ML leave him. But, come on, almost everyone thought that the ML would come to regret his decision to divorce the MC but never tried to stop him. Even the ML's friend liked the MC and is happy for their divorce.

[collapse]

Another thing I dislike in this novel was the MC's conditional love. Its been mentioned several times that he only fell in love for the ML being calm and mature. This is also one of the reason why he just accepted the divorce from the beginning. And just like other people in their verse, he never trusted that their love will last.

ML

Spoiler

The ML's father have an illegitimate children who the ML meets. At that time, the ML didn't know that his parents are not the loving parents he knew. That child and ML bonded, the child live with his mother and they live poorly so the ML treat him for some food. One month after that meeting the child drowned. It is implied that the ML's mother did it. The ML felt guilty after he find out and blamed himself. This is one of the reason why he becomes more mature. So, the fact that the MC fell in love with the ML only after he changes because of his parents and blamed himself for it really made me think that their love is not that great. Like, if they meet at the wrong time, they would never make it. Its conditional.

[collapse]

I don't really find the MC that likeable. He is calm and cool-headed but no other interesting quality. But, one of the memorable scene in this novel is the MC's flashback on how he noticed the ML after he became more mature. It is one of the few times I cheered for their love. During the camping trip, the ML proposes to elope and the MC thought that their love might never last but in the end still agrees. Its the first moment in the novel that actually shows how he take a step forward for their love. Because most of the time, the initiative is in the ML's hand.

Overall, its mediocre. Not as entertaining as other novel, but also not that bad. Just don't raise your expectation too much. <<less
