Sect Master Xue Qianshao of Tai Kun Mountain visits the demon city of Qi Ye with the intention of negotiating compensation for past conflicts with the Demon Venerable Hui Xing. To facilitate the talks, both sides agree to a temporary pact of ‘no harm to each other.’ However, once Xue Qianshao enters the Demon Palace, what was supposed to be a smooth negotiation was repeatedly obstructed. When Xue Qianshao finally managed to secure a meeting, he discovered that he was deeply entangled and caught up in the internal strife within the Demon Realm.

Adding fuel to the fire, during their meeting, the Demon Venerable Hui Xing openly displayed his strong interest in Xue Qianshao. He confessed that he had been attacked by a furnace, carrying a sinister curse and hidden injuries, and wanted Xue Qianshao to help him heal through dual cultivation. Additionally, he used the old debts with Tai Kun Mountain as leverage to coerce and entice Xue Qianshao into agreeing.

Xue Qianshao is no pushover either. However, with the situation in the Demon Realm being intense and bound by the pact with the Demon Venerable Hui Xing, they are both enemies and allies, and must ultimately join forces to fight against common enemies. As Xue Qianshao’s stay in the Demon Realm extends, he begins to recall past events from before he joined Tai Kun Mountain. A forgotten past slowly becomes clearer, and the person from his memories increasingly overlaps with the Demon Venerable Hui Xing…

Is it that the past ties are not yet severed, or is it merely that the players in the game have woven themselves into their own traps?

Thus begins the entanglement between the Sect Master and the Demon Venerable.

Five out of five!

As a new danmei reader, it was beautifully written. The plot was amazing, and the story was heart-wrenching. The main characters' stories have so much depth; every character is well thought out. Even though it may appear this way at first, no character is completely evil or good. It really tackles the question of human morality and how far someone can go for something they want or believe in.

You need around 15 chapters to understand fully why they were there and it's getting good around chapter 30.

You have to be more patient, paid more attention and take note of information because author has tendency to withold even the most basic information for later.

The general idea:

Spoiler

For some reasons the second disciple of the Tai Kun Mountain attacked ML's in his home (do righteous people need reasons to attack demon venerable? #Waiting online). While trying to ask for compensation (you can do that?), ML tried to kidnap some disciples as hostages to even get better compensation (devious indeed). But he got caught by the eldest disiple and the seven disciple and got injured (Ha! Karma). So he just asked to make a business deal (You still pushing?). MC went to the demon realm, ML's domain, to talk about this deal, bringing two of his disciples along. "Money is sweet and ah btw our Master has a big enemy in demon realm so there's no loss to secure an ally in the other realm."--or something like that. But when they arrived, ML was busy healing his injury and warming his body (lenny face), so MC had to wait for days.

<<STORY START HERE>> When the audience finally happened though, a traitor emerged among ML's subordinates and implicated MC and his disciples, making them unable to leave the demon realm. MC choose to help ML solving this issue as a personal favor because (1) the villain might be the master's enemy (2) ML probably his fated person who will solve his stagnant cultivation (3) nothing else to do; only God knows the order of the priority.

[collapse]

Some inconsistencies, translation mistakes, ML probably not being virg*n. Overall not a bad read for people who run out of xianxa danmei with more serious undertone that's not master-disciple

Note: has smut chapters <<less

At first, it was entertaining, but as I read on, it started to bore me. It's the same old cliché: joking gong, calm shou. None of the characters caught my attention; even the shou seemed like the most clueless sect master ever. There aren't any memorable characters, at least until chapter 28, when I dropped it. I don't recommend it if you've read a lot of xianxia. But I suppose it's a good read to start immersing yourself in this world.
