In a turbulent world, martial arts reign supreme. Yang Shifei, armed with a marriage contract, comes to the door to marry into the family.

His wife is as beautiful as a celestial being, their home is filled with wealth and treasures, and she is as calm and gentle as water, always considerate.

The maid is as stunning as a peach blossom, yet as cold as ice, possessing extraordinary skills, able to fight and endure.

But this seemingly perfect family, praised by everyone in the martial arts world, is plagued by rumors.

“Who says my wife is a demon? Stand up and face me!” Yang Shifei shouted, pointing his sword in all directions, his face full of indignation.

Meanwhile, the martial arts heroes below can only tremble, on the verge of tears. With his wife’s claws hovering over their heads, who would dare to speak out?

I think this novel is pretty hit or miss on its audience, making it somewhat niche. The author jumbles with lots of big genre elements, but doesn't really completely lean into any of them, which makes it somewhat off to read.

There were aspects that were really enjoyable, and others that felt like pure filler. This was also partly due to the story pacing which was really slow, which bogged down the story sometimes. I honestly feel like I skimmed 25% of the novel here.

The action scenes to me were the... more>> worst. They really elongated it more than necessary and the writing wasn't that great for them. They often took up 2 full chapters of one fighting scene which I ended up always skimming.

However, the same could not be said for the short engagements as they were written great. But these can't really be called "fighting" as it often involves an op character subtly deleting someone.

Back to the genre bit, it really felt like that to me.

      • There is some comedy, but I really can't say it's justified to put the tag there for how little there was. And it wasn't funny either but more like interesting.
      • Romance? It's there, but it's very slow development and our protagonist gets handed everything on a platter. The interactions really lack compare to actual Romance novels.
      • Action? It's more like filler gaps here in this novel. It really felt like the author forced in action as the story setting takes place in a xianxian (?) world filled with martial artists.
      • The harem in this novel felt lacking. I didn't read far enough to really see how it faired as the pacing is very slow. The interactions with the female leads though have been overall dull or falls flat as the author isn't the greatest romance writer which the novels main focus seems to be. With the romance not up to par, the character cast isn't that great. However, the one smooching scene that happened was pretty good, but it was also very rushed
      • The supernatural was really great towards the start, but it rapidly fell off. This is because the author didn't really lean unto the setting much as it's more like a backdrop setting, and the horror aspects get really thrown away for spoiler reasons, but even without that there are barely any scenes of the uncanny after the starting intros. This was the main reason I read so far in the novel, so it's a real bummer.
The genres weren't the only things that fell short to me though, as lots of the plots felt the same to me. Lots of the plot points are rushed into conclusion off screen, as the narrator only follows the protagonist, very rarely ever showing something our MC doesn't see eye for eye. And lots of the developments felt forced in to make something happen in between the romance development of the main female lead.

Overall conclusion to me is I suggest giving it a try still if the novel starts getting translated again, but it really is going to be a you like or don't like I think due to the writing style and slow pacing. To me Im not the biggest romance genre fan and with the TL dropping wasn't inclined to keep forcing myself to read after the lack of paranormal <<less

It's a fun, wholesome story with good characters and the way it handles the relationship between them is cute. It's a shame that it hasn't been translated in 3 months since the writing of this review, because judging by it's status, it still has a lot to be translated. Still stuck on the most recent english chapter and hopefully, this gets picked up on again.
