This novel is criminally underrated and certainly deserves more attention.

A huge shoutout to the TL. The translation is superb. Great job, really. Fast translation and top quality.

Jian Qin is an interesting character — right from the first chapter, in fact. He's just so fed up with life and everything that he doesn't seem to give a f*ck anymore. And honestly, I love him. He lives by the motto 'Either get rich, or marry a rich woman.'

But do not worry, he aims to get rich himself, which he starts doing right... more>> away. In fact, what I like about this, is how realistically it's been portrayed, and I'm talking mostly of the reactions of his classmates. Exams are over, everyone wants to have fun. Jian Qin instead is out there making money and investments.

He is very goal-oriented, using smart tricks to start making small money, then borrowing money, buying properties, getting compensation and resettlement properties once they are demolished. He actually does research the market before making investements.

The story so far has been mostly slice-of-life. No arrogant young masters. No main antagonist to defeat. No cultivation. In fact, there hasn't been one single fight so far. I'm a bit confused by the tag 'Depictions of Cruelty'. Perhaps it's gonna come into play later on in the novel.

As other reviewers said, there's quite a bit of focus on women chasing after Jian Qin, which is semi justified in a way. His mature outlook probably plays a huge part as well, besides his looks. He comes from the future, so even the small things he does or says might come as refreshingly innovative to them. And if you're into that, you're gonna love it.

Chu Siqi, the girl that turned down Jian Qin's confession at the start of the novel, gets incredibly flustered and upset by his sudden indifference and begins to show signs of unhealthy obsession over him. (She's not a yandere). I can't quite understand her presence in the story, to be honest.

It's not even because I hate her. In Jian Qin's first life she continued encouraging him to keep trying that she might return his feelings someday, but eventually ends up with someone else. Which is quite weird to me, simply because Jian Qin has been described to be tall and hansome, and it doesn't appear to me that he was a douchebag to her.

Perhaps it was the simp vibes.

Either way, in Jian Qin's new life, she gets super upset by him. She's a b*tch, for sure, but the reason why I don't hate her is because she seems to ignore other guys' attention in her pursuit to get Jian Qin back. It's confusing to me. She's a flawed and self-centered character, and I wonder if she does actually have some sort of feelings for him or not. Otherwise I don't see how she wouldn't simply turn her eyes to someone else.

And then there is...

Spoiler

Nanshu

[collapse]

... which appears to be the FL in this story. Jian Qin's relationship with her is kinda weird but sweet. I enjoy their intereactions. Sometimes it's so nonsensical that it brings a smile to my face.

As for other female characters, they get a bit of screen time, but Jian Qin is stubbornly avoiding the romance trap.

The male characters in the story are amazing as well. Their interactions are hilarious, and their struggles so relatable as well. Honestly, I'm acqually surprised by how realistic the interactions in this story are (as realistic as they can be in a work of fiction anyway).

Overall, I'm really enjoying this story. I highly recommend it. <<less

every chapter is literally just everyone glazing and dickriding the MC. Every girl is somehow in love with him all because he’s handsome and rich and mature? (He’s only really mature because everyone else has the mentality of a 10 year old). Every interaction between him and the main love interest grosses me out. Nanshu is literally mentally 8. She doesn’t know what s*x is, she’s sheltered, immature, and ignorant. She’s emotionally dependent on the MC. Everytime she and the MC interact, it feels like a father and daughter, and... more>> then he starts to comment on her b**bs and feet, then it starts to feel like g*ooming. The most entertaining part of this novel is the MC. Aside from his interactions with Nanshu, his attitude is somewhat unique, but he’s at best a 7/10 on the good character writing scale. Other than him, everyone else is either boring as hell or complete tr*sh.

TL;DR, generic supermarket junk food, read only if you have literally nothing good to read, or if you have a power fantasy. <<less

This story handle harems like every shounen manga should've done. By saying "no f***king thanks".

Slice of life story about an ambitious young man who desire to see his labor be turned into money. In the 155 chapters I read, the MC has done around 4 ventures for money.

Spoiler

1- asking money from a rich girl.

2- buying houses on soon to be demolished places for the money compensation.

3- Starting a web forum for university and selling ad spaces.

4- Online shopping website.

[collapse]

Of theses four ventures, the first one was "okay, it get the story going." Without being out of place.

The second one was the typical "Came back in time, so I know places to make quick and easy money". But still wasn't outrageous like "after this he can simply retire but decide not to" like so many other of theses stories. It was an amount for a reasonable starting funds.

The third was his first venture that he really thought out and made it himself without crazy "plot armor or Transmigration buff". It was quite nice to read about.

The fourth, he used what was already done, but used the modern template to make it more profitable. But thankfully it didn't go crazy like other stories, keeping it realisticaly small and convincing.

Coming back to the romance (yes there is romance, I should add the tag after this review) is cute and not the focus of the story. Just a nice side story to distract readers from the constant "business" of the story.

This book is good at handling the romance from the point of view of a normal, not delusional, narcisitic, self-centered a*shat like most other books. While many women likes MC, he does not just go around accepting every female being on the planet into his harem. (Just writing it made me puke a bit... 🤢). Instead, he keeps his distance from women and clearly state his disinterest in them (other than the FL).

All in all. I recommend. Nice story, well translated. I would give it 4 stars. But gave it 5 to boost it's score a bit.

Edit : there's the "romantic subplot" tag already. I'll leave it at that for now, but if the romance increase in importance or amount, i'll see to it being added later. <<less

AAA-BBB-CCC is right

I've at 88th chapter

This is not a story focused around a guy making money and growing businesses and the like.

... more>> That's less than half of the chapters so far.

Most of the chapters are about people going "oh my god MC is so cool and rich and wealthy and handsome and knows just what to do every time and..." etc etc. Seriously, more than 50% of the chapters are like a circle-jerk of the self-insert MC.

The other small sliver is our 38 year-old MC g*ooming an 18 year-old girl who has the mentality of an 8 year-old (his words). Well, he doesn't say g*ooming. But then he does sh*t like playing with her feet (a lot) out of s*xual interest. And finding ways to have her breasts touch him and staring at them.

I was really hoping she was going to stay as a mentee figure but at a certain point it was clear she was being set-up as his love interest... sigh. It's just.. so ew.

And yes, almost every girl who's reasonably attractive (and 100% of girls who beautiful) fall for him and want him. Usually really fast.

As for the business side of things, that has increased a little in focus over the last ten or so chapters. A bit.

Thing is, MC doesn't even get his majority capital through smart business plays or foreknowledge. He lucks into it as it's literally given to him in a way that would not happen in real life.

(He also goes on to use what i'd personally call an unethical business, though we see early on even he has limits. But I think it's undeniable he's increasing the amount of evil in the world).

Anyways I'm tossing up between 1 star and 2. There are occasional laughs, like one every 5 or so chapters. So... there's that.

But too much self-insert MC fellating as he grooms a kid. I literally just read as much as I did because I have a bad habit of dropping a series too late. <<less

I quite like this novel, the relationship between the MC and fMC is quite cute is intriguing, and the portion about him making money is quite good as well, the problem with this novel is that the first 100~150 chapters can be quite a pain to go through because the author focused too much on women chasing the MC and being entitled and acting like they are the only thing that matters in the world, it honestly gave a very heavy incel energy with how he portraid women, I even... more>> though of dropping it a couple of times, but thankfully he reined that back and it's quite good now. <<less

(2/5)

Some people give 5 stars wayyy too leniently on this website. It's crazy how many 5/5 this has. Very misleading.

I agree with AAA-BBB-CCC, matrixm, and dami200's reviews. They are spot on.

... more>> This is HEAVY male wish-fulfillment, with a bad main romance (g*ooming), and a cast of cardboard cutout (fake feeling) Female side characters. I personally didn't find the business aspect very interesting, so won't comment as much on it. Was hoping for like a 'kingdom building' type feel, and was disappointed.

Heavily unrealistic wish fulfillment, 50% of the novel is female characters going "he is amazing! I love him! Now all men are super unattractive to me!" or men glazing him, or crying that they are not him. 100% g*ooming with FL, that takes away the romance, which is sad because their interactions are probably the best part (only time I would laugh, (or from his roommates)). And the g*ooming combined with him being more 'physically' attracted to her than mentally, is a bad combo (at least that's what his dialogue/inner dialogue/actions show).... Business side is simply boring to me, so can't comment much on it. That may be some's cup of tea. To me it was like a WAY more boring version of kingdom/tribe/cult building, so I CAN see how others would really like it, but I found it quite slow, low stakes, and boring.

ALL the female side characters feel fake af, where their ONLY SOLE purpose in life, is to see MC do something cool, then fantasize about dating/marrying him... Just the contrast between female and male side characters in this story, make it so painfully obvious this is a male author, and this is some (imo) brainrot wish fulfillment. Neither of those are bad (male author, wish fulfillment), but when I am very much conscious of it while reading, I am not as immersed. I am breaking the 4th wall myself involuntarily, all the time, because of the absurdity of these 'characters' inside the novel. Unless you like cardboard cut out characters, that don't feel human, I doubt you will like 99% of female characters in this. And most of the side characters are female.

ALL the females, once they learn of MC, will ONLY think of MC for rest of the book, watching him from afar, or glazing him up close. In contrast, alot of ML side characters (mainly his dorm mates) see FL or other 'goddesses', and don't get 'stun locked' in praise for 300 chapters. They sometimes like a girl, it fails, and they go after a new one. Sometimes they chase a girl, and she likes someone else, so they give up. Sometimes they go on successful dates, sometimes unsuccessful... Like, they are REAL PEOPLE, ya know? But the females? They will just say 'After seeing MC, no man can satisfy me. I'll just watch him date his GF wishing it was me, for the rest of my college life *sigh*", like wtf..... They don't say that word for word, but that's basically what they do/think, so after reading about the 26th side female character, say the same thing she has said 90 times before, repeating what ALL other 40 side female characters already said (verbatim)... you will get overdosed with the wish fulfillment, which quickly took me out of the story and immersion.

And this author makes the same mistake most authors make, with these 'older' people reincarnating into younger bodies. Where the MC sometimes acts like a 40 year old businessman, other times he acts like a high school pe*vert. It's just not very consistent, but honestly most these authors are not (with this mental age trope), so not a huge deal. It's obvious they just want to make an OP young MC, with lots of knowledge, and can't think of another way, other than to have the MC's older self go back in time. And they don't really 'deal' with that, imo. They at times treat him like 40, and at times treat him like 18. Some of his actions are super weird and creepy for a 40 year old, but would be ok for an 18 year old. You can feel the author sometimes themselves, forget that their MC is mentally 40 years old.

This kind of has that feel. It's not near as bad as some others, but it is also especially bad as his 'young' self tends to show around the FL he is g*ooming, which makes it creepier for me (like touching her legs higher and higher till she asks him to stop... he's 40 years old, this girl is like mentally a 10 year old... its so creepy) <<less

This review is highly subjective.

I'll keep it brief: while this novel has its moments, it's overall a mixed bag. Many of the other reviews are right, there are some glaring flaws here. The business aspect shows promise, but it quickly falls apart when the plot starts handing everything to the protagonist on a silver platter. Everything just magically works out, with little effort or conflict. It doesn't feel earned, which takes away from the realism that the novel initially tries to establish.

Then there's the protagonist’s stance on romance. He repeatedly... more>> claims he doesn't want to pursue high school girls, yet ends up g*ooming one, which is not only contradictory but also disturbing. It feels like the story can't decide what it wants to be, and that lack of coherence makes it hard to stay engaged.

Overall, it’s not something I’d recommend. It has potential, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. <<less

The novel is more of a slice of life with some embellishments here and there, nothing too harmful.

The MC is pretty much going for the platonic harem route, and seems like he is doubling down on the initial premise of the novel, that he won't fall in love and would focus on business and making money; this doesn't mean that he's cold and aloof, he still manages his interpersonal relationships properly. Plus, the Main FMC seems to be introduced early on.

Other than the regression, the enhanced business prowess of the... more>> MC after regression, and unrealistically perfect FMC the novel is a normal and satisfying read.

And as for the translation, as you can see it is fast, and if you read the chapters, it is superb. Thank you TL. <<less

I was really hesitant to read this novel because the reviews implied that the protagonist was a 38 year old man in an 18 year old body who would have numerous girls throwing themselves at him while he focused on preying on the feet of the most innocent of them all. While this summary may fit in some ways, it gives an entirely different impression than what the novel actual entails. A better description would be:

A 38 year-old man exhausted by life and saddened by the opportunities he lost due... more>> to chasing futile relationships goes back to his youth. He resolves to focus on his career, make money, and ensure his parents do not need to exhaust themselves to support his future. His maturity and success compared to his peers leads girls into flocking to his facade, but they are all obstacles to him. He finds ways to reject those he notices and ignore the ones who do not accept his rejection. No woman will block his path to making a good career again! But... what if the woman herself brings him money and supports his career? What if the cold iceberg beauty of his high school days turns out to be a bit silly under her own facade? What if she is lonely and all she asks in exchange is for a sincere friend for life? What if she is able to tolerate and even cater to his strangest quirks? That she is 18 and he is resistant to relationships does not stop them from accompanying each other through thick and thin. He won't admit that they have long become more than friends, but he can't truly resist her approach or what she requests from him. Their relationship, intimacy, and their trust will grow over time despite the fact that work is still his highest priority (for now).

An even better description may be a novel that goes into more detail on business management than almost every novel I have ever read, with a heavy slice of "friendship" (self-denial) on the side as the protagonist overcomes the traumas of a previous life.

Further Details:

Spoiler

This is a story of a pe*verted man in a boy's body who has been traumatized by relationships. His first love used him as a backup and had been leading him on for literal years (was it 7?) before cutting him off in an unexpected and sudden way. He had given up on actual love already at that point. He forced himself to go on blind dates and date in his 30s and found someone he thought was okay, only for her to blindside him by asking for 300, 000 in bride price. His savings were no where near this and he had bad health conditions from earning what he already had. He left on a bad note in utter despair and doubt. Was this kind of life worth the efforts of his entire family? Worth not seeing his grandmother for the last time? This is the mood he had when going back to the past. Money is his obsession. Love is his enemy.

The female protagonist is not as naive as she acts in front of him, just like she is not as cold as she acted in front of their high school classmates. She does behave like she has the mentality and s*xual knowledge of an innocent child, but that does not make it true. She grew up in a troubled wealthy environment where she became independent much earlier than most children. I am in chapter 279 now and her driver strongly implies at her actual intelligence level to the protagonist before she appears to interrupt them. This was not the first time he had caught her in the act or even the first sign that her ignorance is feigned. Does she actually believe what she is touching in his lap while he is on a call is his "phone"? Ha. What stood out to me most was actually something she said one of the times he directly asks her if she is really as silly as she seems and says, in an affirmative way, that she is actually quite smart. She panics and the first words that slip out are "Don't be afraid." She reassures him that she is really truly "that silly." What is important in this scene is that she is not panicking about being caught in a deception. She is worried about triggering his trauma. Nothing more than that phrase "Don't be afraid" confirmed to me more that she is completely aware of his distrust toward relationships and playing along with his 'just friends' rhetoric. She knows he needs to justify any advancements in their relationship under a false band of friendship and is likely to be actively encouraging this mindset with the way she sneakily researches for more things "good friends" can do together. She recognizes his boundaries and works within them. He is the frog getting boiled in warm water in this scenario. His age provides him no extra defense against this subtle approach whatsoever.

So yes, lots of young girls attracted by an older man in a younger man's body. Yes, the old man checks them out sometimes. He is not interested in doing more than looking. Yes, he can't resist touching a girl he builds a sincere connection with when she literally places herself in his grasp. There is definitely some perversion (he has a big time foot fetish), but definitely not a story of him taking advantage of young girls using his life experience. If anything, he tries again and again to trick the female lead into NOT getting in a relationship with him. This is a story of restraint starring a man who does not have much actual resistance when he actually comes to like a girl despite all of his self-deception and denial. It is pretty obvious he knows that he isn't fooling anyone, but also that bro is just not ready to discard that label of friendship. And this state of denial goes on for a long, long time. Because the story really does focus mainly on his businesses, and in great detail.

The story comes off as playful but there is an underlying and realistic melancholy to it. One example is a moment where he takes a moment to just watch his roommates enthusiastically enjoying their youth and college life, unlike him who is already focusing on work. That really brought some questions to mind. Is he truly making the most of his rebirth? Is money really that important? Is he sacrificing the things he lost in the first life again in a different way? His mother comments, barely a few chapters later, that he has not taken the initiative to call his family for months. He is rightfully proud of his accomplishments, but there is an underlying tone from the very beginning of the book that he is not striking a proper work-life balance. He see-saws to extremes on either side whether in the previous or the current life. As a reader I feel the author may want us to consider that time is limited and that we must not miss what is truly most important by getting too focused on one or the other.

[collapse]

All in all, the book is a lot more interesting than I expected. I find myself rather engaged in what is a business novel under the veneer of a male self-fulfillment fantasy romance book. I thought I would just be skimming a few chapters to confirm whether this was a romance genre or romantic subplot tag book (please only add one or the other!! lol...), but ended up binge-reading all available chapters instead. :o

The main character is flawed but I can't hate him. The female protagonist seems to be an airhead but I love her. I had not even heard of group-buying before this book but I can't stop being fascinated by the way he tries to overcome an O2O business operating on delayed transactions and cash payment consolidation. The main character does not come off as a genius, but he is overwhelmingly competent when he puts his mind to something. He has various tricks in business, but he is sincere to his family and friends. I know I am definitely going to end up finishing the other 482 chapters someday.

So long. TT-TT <<less

not gonna rate it since I have a deep dislike of chinese over discribing every girl like a godness bla bla bla,

Think story is kinda solid, but I find it confusing for a tilte about not chashing woman there is only content about woman chashing "him".

dont think its a bad one but sufferes from the chinese over discribing every girl as godness. Like japanese goes way into detail about food

what I really dissatisfy is

about character I really pity chu siqi cuz as far as jealous she is, I really want to see her got a little happy ending and move on from MC

About MC business it really go too smoth no competition at all that just make it a bit blend, well I know and all he's rebirth but it just gone to well.... So yeah

The ending is good but I feel life something is missing like I wish all characters can meet up before ending cuz it the last time we saw them but it still good nothingness

Relationships is the best one among book I read so far it similar to "ending maker" that MC clinging to each other and fell in love

Author still don't show us proper reason of rebirth I kinda guess it since beginning but it still a little disappointed

Overall it a great story about romance and showoff can't say I will be re-read it but it definitely have a place in my heart

I would give this 3.5/5.

I think that the business aspect of this is fun to read about, not sure how accurate it would be in the real world but fun to see him outmaneuver his opponents. But, the guy is too OP even though he makes good use of his knowledge of the future. He makes his opponents feel more like NPCs. I think his relationship with his roommates is also funny but I don't get the whole show-off burn jokes he does to his friends.

The romance part of this... more>> is uncomfortable for me. It took a while for FL to have any personality (she's a bit better towards the end) and was too perfect. The story was constantly saying how there were so many pretty girls but no one was quite as beautiful as the FL...
Spoiler

Also, although he made his bounderies clear to other women, he still kept checking out other women and watching p*rn and admitted that he would hate it if it was reciprocale (if she did it). What really made me uncomfortable was how the FL gave him a BJ without his consent when he passed out drunk. This was not consensual and was s*xual assault to me. It was creepy and really not needed.

TLTR:

This story is not really that unique, its main interesting points are the MC and the fact that he hates romance, even though he totally enjoys romance, but after that? Not really nothing new, the story is simple, there isn't a system nor a guide, but all of that is invalidated at the beginning of the story ... more>>
Spoiler

The bad point is like, any stakes are immediately taken off because he got. A millionaire jade beauty in love with him, so the main driving force is off, like at this point is just him being an ass because he got wronged by being led on for 7 years by a girl, which is also part of his fault. I don't like how the story takes out all fault from the MC, "he didn't do any wrong, he is a badass now" bs, and the idea that I don't like is that this story lacks a main point, at this point on the story (ch 98) the author starts to play with the idea to change the story into more romance focus, trying to tackle the romance aspect of MC, but its so slow

[collapse]

It aint nothing new, it's fun on its comedy, but has some drawback from the cliches on these types of stories, good for an evening story, just be prepared for the big amount of names, and the fact they get confusing. <<less

It's a decent casual wholesome romance read. Couple of things that this novel does ok is romance, business, and face slap with a little comedy on the side. Let's talk about them one by one.

First is the romance. It's a slow burn. Not one of the best but not that bad either. Sometimes it's wholesome but sometimes it's a bit questionable. One sad thing I did notice is that ... more>>

the way I see it, MC got so traumatized on chasing his crush that he developed a defense mechanism of fearing to be in a relationship. This manifested when he and the fML relationship slowly developed to more than being a friend, he still try to convince her (when in fact it's he himself he is trying to convince) that it's just a step up lvl of friendship. The girl seem to notice it and just play along with him by acting innocent, playful and s*upid. You could tell that at this point, it's her who is trying to court the MC, not the other way around, and I find that comedic because the MC is clueless, and wholesome because of how understanding and considerate she is with his trauma.

. Also, his relationship with his parents is funny and for real indeed.

The second thing, business, is quite engaging. Its feeling is similar to reading empire building novels but because he's reborn, you don't really feel the stake and danger. Most of the time, it's mundane, understandably because it's a slice of life so some drop it, but sometimes, it peaks most of which are in a form of face slaps which earns a few of my chuckle.

The third is about the face slap. It's everywhere in many forms. From his classmates and jade beaties (/s), to businessmen and principal. Few are good, some ok but some were just really pushing it. Most of the time, it's the jade beaties and how they are portrayed is what I dislike the most in this novel. But since their appearance rate is now low, I just pretend it didn't happen since they don't mess with the main plot anyway.
Spoiler

His former crush is definitely the prime victim of this but he moves on, eventually reducing her appearance rate.

Overall 3 star (I fat finger my ratings), an ok casual read. There are those who read to be immerse but there are also those who read just to get rid of stress. This novel is one of the latter. No danger and stakes, just mindless satisfaction. <<less

He's a little too ambiguous with various females for my taste. Unrealistic in a lot of places. Like he's supposed to be 40s but doesn't really have the maturity.

Loved this webnovel! And I know this is not for everyone. Maybe an old guy like me can appreciate the lightness and humor of the story. Not to mention the sweet and endearing "friendship" of the main characters which is extremely funny. I liked how they tried to upgrade their friendship to accomodate the stage of what a normal couple does. Honestly, it is a bit pe*verted, but it was told in a such a humourous way that I was tickled by the whole process. I especially liked how they... more>> would change the words related to love or a couple with words related to friendship from being ordinary friends up to being sworn brothers (married).

I also liked the slice of life aspect of the story. On how be became one of the richest man in China competing with the level of Alibaba and tencent. He started from scratch from such a young age, as early the summer break before going to college, soaring like rocket to the top. There are a lot of ideas which from an outsider like me are worth noting but of course, on how they would hold up in real life scenarios.. But on how they were told, it was definitely awe-inspiring.

This is an ego-stroking type of novel for guys which will definitely be found offensive by the those who don't like this tripe esp girls. Even from my perspective there are things I didn't like and find offensive. The key is to NOT take it seriously and just go along for the ride. <<less
