New MyRAMEN

Status: Completed
The novel is fully translated, Im just too lazy to link it.

TLDR: The story can be summed up as one of those stories that were extremely great at the start then get abysmally ruined. It really is just the plot developments (big plot holes), constant character scrapping, and filler/pacing that drop this from a high 4-something to a 3. The harem in this novel was surprisingly good. It also had one of the best character developments I've read in my opinion for the somewhat ntr-type antagonist girl who turned a new leaf. If you read, drop after the first main arc of Wuyue. The start was very great, the afterwards was a sh*t stirred pot once the author lost his drive and got very lazy

It's been a very... more>> long time since I found a Chinese Cultivation novel I genuinely enjoyed. I literally spent the first 2 days for over 10 hours reading 120 chapters. However, on truth this feels like a dropped novel, as only the start was very great.

For one, the pacing is extremely horrible. Our protagonist took a year going from Qi Condensation lvl3 to Foundation Establishment for THREE HUNDRED FKN CHAPS!! And from there? Massive time rush speedrun going from that to climbing 3 realms higher while decades passed between events. The ending chap was also a conclusion type.

To further emphasize the quality difference from the first main arc which was about 100 chaps, everything afterward is pretty much filler. The whole 2nd arc was pretty bad. The final third arc was better but it was very rushed to reach the story conclusion. There are still some enjoyable moments throughout but if not for the start you would've long since dropped, you are just reading at that point to see what happens.

The general main plot developments are pretty bad in this novel the further you get. The whole world is haphazardly made, and the protagonists innovations get more and more s*upid. Throughout millions of years, no one has ever thought of very simple and easy solutions the protagonist is often thinking about, it really just assumes every1 is s*upid to make it work. Plot Armor too gets more and more reinforced and force; hence also the lazier writing. The author just lost his drive.

The characters in this book were great and horrible at the same time. Great because they had a lot of depth and were very interesting. But downright horrible because lot of characters get scrapped and never mentioned/interacted again, with biggest prime examples being his best friend and family completely disappearing when he moved to the capital and never mention for the 200+ chapters hence forth.

The protagonist was likeable and annoying at the same time. The author was really just using him as a plot driving factor to speed or stall story aspects whenever he wanted. There are so many inconsistencies with our very hard-stuck follow the rules / good-guy type protagonist. He really seems to somewhat break his character a lot once u gaze past the surface level.

One example is pushing off the once main female leads Lin Yao. Speaking of which, prob the one of the only few times or first time ever that I found an annoying antagonist type character from an ntr-like scenario have a complete turn around and you end up root for her. Her character development was phenomenally done in the first arc. And honestly the main reason I brute forced through the pretty bad 2nd arc that came, where she was also not mentioned for 100 chapters to keep baiting the future plot interaction. With how much she loved him it is incomprehensible she's never even called or met him when they live right nearby for a full year...

The game takes place in a game world, where it isnt an actual game but as once a developer lead for it, he knew lots of the inner workings / laws of the world. The plot holes are pretty big in the novel. And the settings are often reality breaking, like there being a sudden balance mechanic where he made a demon sect where there isn't much demons and the game balancing laws gives his sect members an insane cultivation speed buff... This was the biggest setting I hated the most in the novel. There are some other annoying reality breaking settings / lazy writing though.

The harem was pretty good in this novel, one of the few harem novels the quality is good and consistent throughout the novel with female lead depths. It really is just the plot developments (big plot holes), constant character scrapping, and filler/pacing that drop this from a 4-something to a 3. The detriments are high with this.

I suggest reading this but I would drop once you get done with Wuyue arc, the quality is dropped after and prolongated with more filler, and the overarching plot points your interested in get stalled heavily stalled or completely scrapped and never mentioned again. <<less
