The 13th Duke of Windburg, known as the “King of the North,” and heir to thirteen titles.
Master of the grand Maxville Estate, an ancestral home with 800 years of history.
A man who had failed spectacularly in his first love.
“I am considering hosting a ball.”
Faced with the unavoidable duty of producing an heir, the Duke of Windburg decides to hold a ball to select a duchess.
He chooses Roselyn Eleanor Fairfield, the eldest daughter of a viscount.
“Expect nothing. That way, you won’t be disappointed.”
Thus begins a marriage bound by duty.
Tuesday nights become the designated time for their sole obligation: to produce an heir.
As the weeks pass, the Duke, who views it merely as a duty, and the Duchess, who dutifully plays her part, find their lives increasingly entwined with these Tuesday nights.

the prequel starts with Evelyn and Jared's bed scene—wtf TT
-Rosalyn is asked to show her engagement ring by the Glen family, while Evelyn tries so hard to hide hers
-Evelyn leaves right after seeing the marriage contract, while Rosalyn reads the contract carefully for days
-Jared and Rosalyn both petting a dog at the shooting range, while Evelyn is scared instead
-Jared's excessive jealousy toward Dr. Kendrick because he resembles Clifton (Evelyn's husband) in many aspects (they both blonde, blue eyes, 32 single, have intelectual demianor, have a very stable work even they are noble, and jared think they are very assertive toward the womans he love because they want to take advantage of them- rosalyn can give dr. Kendrik research sponsor as a duchess, and evelyn is important asset for clifton's publishing- which is true until the very end of the story that clifton realised he loved her)
-both Evelyn and Rosalyn crouch in the Merrystern garden. Jared and Evelyn talk for a long time on the bench, while Jared invites Rosalyn to sit on the same bench but ends up just hugging her standing up
-and I don't know how I felt about this and if that even a purpose or coincidense, but I can't stop thinking about how Jared built a yellow rose garden (Evelyn's favorite flower) from the start their dating, in Chester (the place that was supposed to be their home after marriage), where he built a writers village too. While at the end of the side story, Jared gives Rosalyn only a single cream rose (the color Rosalyn likes and often uses when she pick flowers, dress etc) from the flower vase in their room, a necklace (that he admited himself is the laziest give, and rosalyn is not content about the give too haha), and says that the real gift is that he came home safely (and she say that's true and she really mean it). I just hope this kind of shows how the greatest gift for Rosalyn is Jared himself, while for Evelyn, it's Jared's support for her dreams. Because of that, how great other give from jared is, evelyn is cant bring her to love and trust him anymore because he once betrayed her dream- which is he want to talk about in the next day. But even after how cruelty jared was to rosalyn, she love him so much that she can bring herself to always undestand and forgive him. Because if I'm not interprete it that way I think I'm gonna crash out to how low effort jered toward his wife compared to his fiancee.
Now I completely understand why Jared wanted to show off his family when he met Clifton haha.
