Ye Bai was cryogenically frozen ten thousand years ago, and upon awakening, she found that Earth had entered the interstellar era.

As an ancient human, merely surviving required exorbitant costs to filter out various viruses and radiation.

At her wit’s end, she looked up and saw a massive game advertisement spanning half the sky—

In her time, Ye Bai had been a renowned game developer.

The ad displayed her unreleased game, *Boundless Realms*, which she had created before being frozen.

Three years ago, *Boundless Realms* burst onto the scene, causing a massive stir across the universe.

This was because the game could actually enhance players’ real-world mental and physical abilities, leading interstellar scholars to believe it might hold secrets of a higher civilization.

However, the game was notoriously difficult. Despite investing immense effort, players couldn’t even complete their first class advancement.

That is, until Ye Bai decided to enter the game to monetize her insider knowledge…

Not long after, interstellar players received an unprecedented server-wide announcement, the first in the game’s three-year history:

【Congratulations to the Milky Way Region’s Earth player ‘Baiye’ for becoming the first Lord in the game!】

The entire universe was in an uproar!

Who was this reclusive Earth-based expert? How did they unlock the method to become a Lord? After all, players had been wandering and adventuring for three years, only to be labeled as drifters by NPCs!

Meanwhile, Ye Bai: “…Wait, was everyone in the universe playing on guest accounts before?!”

Rating: 4.2 (-0.4 for translation)

The translation is genuinely quite bad, and it affects the reading experience a lot, but the overall plot is still interesting. There are several layers of intrigue to what's going on, but enough foreshadowing that the reader should have at least some guesses about twists by the time they arrive.

There are details that strain credulity a little, but I don't think they're any worse than occurrences in other sci-fi stories. Also, the translation is bad / inconsistent enough at times that I wouldn't be surprised... more>> if some of the nuances have been warped. <<less

Let's be honest, the story has its flaws, namely big pointless exposition at random points, the fact that the game (the original version, but still with all the ridiculous features) was made by MC seemingly alone (anyone who knows game dev needs to employ some serious suspension of disbelief), and how the author sometimes rarely forgets about some details (i.e. her class skills for her second tier class that were supposed to mitigate the drawbacks and increase the 'slots').

But regardless of these, I still give a 5-star rating. Because it's... more>> just simply interested to read. There's like three different places the MC's plot is progressing, all interconnected - the game world, the 'other' game world, and reality. The game world is basically just base building segments with some slight travelling around. The 'other' game world is basically a quest progression adventure. And reality is... surprisingly not as chill as you'd expect with things going wrong more than once.

Big con rant:

Spoiler

The one thing I really criticize though is the translation. I can only conclude that multiple different people are translating because terms are extremely inconsistent between consecutive chapters.

Some of the major points of irritation are the game being given a different name every chapter ranging from "Ten Thousand Worlds" to "Myriad Worlds" to "Wanjie" to "The Worlds" to "Multiverse" to "Omniverse" to "Different Worlds" to "Many Worlds"... and cycling between them randomly.

The MC's (female) pronoun (no, not the political one, I mean grammatically) should be 'she' but for the majority of the story, it's translated as 'he'. Then again, not a single feminine action is shown by the MC even across the whole story so there's room for debate there.

[collapse]

Anyway, the TL is kinda garbage at times but it's legible so just treat it as MTL and read along. The plot is interesting so worth checking out. <<less

It's an outstanding piece of mmorpg fiction that is completely focused on themes of survival, growth, and solving the mysteries at the core of everything. It has no romance subplot that could distract from the themes, and I read through all 220 chapters of mtl in one sitting. I'm grateful to akknovel for translating so many chapters, which in turn allowed me to discover this gem.

A lot of such grand adventure stories start out amazing, some manage to maintain a good quality in the middle, and then falls completely apart... more>> at the end. This is one of the few times where the ending was tied up in a neat and clan manner. I personally really enjoyed it and would have loved some more extras, but I understand and appreciate what the author decided on. <<less

I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I binged read 90 chapters in 3 days... I especially like the world building both inside and outside the mmorpg aspects. I'm not normally into much interstellar genre but still found those parts of the story interesting and enjoyable.

I will say that akkNovel's translation was slightly off in the beginning. (Mostly using wrong pronouns for MC) But later chapters were fine.

I definitely recommend people give this a try. I really tempted to look up the raw so I can keep... more>> reading. <<less

It's difficult to describe it, it's excellent writing and story. I don't particularly like Ye Bai as a character though. She lacks that bit of extra something.

The story also sometimes overly focus on her in-game adventures and at times overly at her real world adventures. Personally I feel it doesn't strike the best of balances.

I also think the MC gets a tad bit too lucky at times, however the danger she finds herself in from time to time also offset that. It's the extreme ends dilemma.

At it's core it's a... more>> MMORPG Cultivation story and a rather good one at that.

I recommend people to atleast give it a try. <<less

Massive info dumps, constantly challenges your ability to suspend your disbelief to keep reading, only the first few chapters are fun, luck based success.

Literal pages of exposition between actual story events. And they have literally no importance whatsoever. The author has invented some weird world he thinks is really cool and can't wait to show it off to you with endless massive info dumps....

The actual plot starts out kinda fun, but it constantly lingers on info dumps in between the fun moments. First 5 or so chapters, fun, next 10,... more>> info dump, next three, fun. That's me being EXTREMELY generous to the the quantity of fun sections btw.

I dropped the series at chapter 19 after the protagonist had something like her 18th ultra lucky event happen that definitely was supposed to have a 1% chance of happening. <<less
