I really enjoy reading/listening to this novel.

The concept is not really that new (sort of reincarnation but this thankfully plays (almost) no role in the novel). MC is reincarnated seemingly back in time but in this world there exists martial arts cultivation.

World building is quite good for my taste (although until now only in the nation of MC). Side characters have life, which is honestly really refreshing. They have their own personalities, quirks and are mostly taking part in the novel longer than some few chapters (no one time use... more>> characters).

Another point some might not like, but I absolutely appreciate is that there is (almost) no romance or harem tendencies at all between MC and any of the female characters. It was getting really frustrating seeing so many novels that are otherwise really enjoyable and good reads having this annoying romance subplot where either MC has a 'forbidden' love and he has to prove himself worthy of her or has to free her from her evil clans claws etc or MC has an affair with every attractive female sidecharacter that has even remotely met him. (Sorry for the little rant :-))

Anyways this is NOT the case here.

Here we have a somewhat typical MC, who is a money grubber, shameless, has his own cheat for cultivation, cares for his family and many more attributes.

All in all it is a well thought novel, that is an enjoyable read with funny parts as well as serious - even sad - parts and that depicts a martial arts society in a modern world in an interesting way. <<less

I can't say that this novel has anything new or ground braking in the field of novels, but the novel has a really good development so far. I hope it gets translated faster as I finished the 257 available chapters in 2 days and was left lost. If you are looking for a novel with an interesting setup and enjoyable story this is a good one.

All in all, had a ton of fun with this novel. It's not without it's flaws, but it's still super fun because the pros are quite strong and overshadow the flaws. A quick pro/con list:

Pros:

  • Super interesting worldbuilding
  • Amazing humor
  • Great Characters that feel in depth and real
  • Exciting fight scenes
  • A very cool MC
  • Satisfying ending
Cons:

  • A pretty basic power system, has a few fun twists and turns but ultimately boils down to bigger number stronger person lol
  • Very weak romance for those that care about that
  • Kinda slow paced, especially towards the end where we switch perspectives semi-often. The MC doe sprogresses regularly and things do happen each chapter (each of which is super long btw, this is one of the longest good novels ever written) though
Quick end note, super impressive feat on the author's part in... more>> writing this hefty ass book in under 2 years <<less

I did not like the MC at all. He was obnoxious, He keeps acting like an asshone all the time. His high school classmates, the first person he friends in uni, he keeps verbally harassing them everytime he talks with them.

The sister is one of the worst characters I read. She keeps cooking up big schemes to make small money, like tearing the first pages of his books to sell his autograph, or selling ALL his possessions. He is making big money by then; the family is living in a... more>> new home he bought, gives family a lot of money, and found new and easier jobs to parents that pay a lot more. But no, she keeps cooking these schemes despite being warned to stop when she is caught. She is considered a cute, comic relief character which is mind boggling to me.

There is equality in the martial arts world between genders. But only on paper. When a female is hit during sparring then everyone is acting pikachu schocked face. That is not equality, that is lip service.

Everything is solved with pills. If you have money, if you have pills, then there is no cultivation. If there are no pills, then it doesn't matter how much you cultivate. Bullsit cultivation system.

MC is supposed to be a business genius being reborn, but the first genius idea he cooks to make money is to start a delivery service. One of the most high risk low return industry. Ridiculous.

Except a select few, all his teachers in uni kind of hate him and go out of their ways to bully or make things hard for him. <<less

How to say-this story is a bit interesting at start like any chinese novels. However, it always go downhill afterwards.

This novel is like brainwashing people to be communists. Lots of ass kissing to the leaders of china that's for sure.

The story has over 1400+ chapters but probably only 400 chapters are content worthy.

... more>> Many and I mean many chapters keep repeating nonsense crap. The worst thing is that most chapters are 1/2 willed with stats data.

If the writer were to spend more time making ideas like group fights, tactics, etc instead of solely focusing on the MC like any other chinese novels, perhaps this story wouldn't be so bad.

The currency system in the story started out ok then later the bubble burst. Prices got inflated then deflated and eventually became worthless.

Numerous plots keep popping up but majority of it were pretty much repeated stuff to extend the chapters and word counts.

Also, the writer is pretty bad at emphasizing certain hints over and over as if we didn't get the hint. You can tell pretty much who is the bad guy or actually it doesn't matter who is bad-they will all end up as bad guy and be slaughter by him. The hype was killed by the repetition or the writer laziness to continue to support it.

Lastly, I was able to endured to read it till the end since my bad habit of curiosity to find out the ending. Thankfully this story was only 1400+ so the torture wasn't so bad. <<less

Relatively to the vast majority of "urban-cultivation" novels on this site this is clearly a superior work, if it wasn't for the MC I would have rated this 5 stars without a doubt.

This is clearly not a instant-gratification type novel, the chapters are long and the pacing is pretty slow and that's why most people say that the story only picks up after chapter 80 or so but I have to disagree, the beginning of the novel and the setup is by far the best part. (Up until chapter 236... more>> at least, idk about later)

This novel did an exceptional good job at the beginning in estabilishing the various characters motivations, people felt like people here, even if the side characters were not analized in depth or anything like that you felt like the MC was interacting with actual human beings.

The world building was also pretty cool, very easy to suspend your disbelief and immerse yourself in the world if you pretend to not see all the times gender equality between martial artists is forgotten and he gets criticized for hitting women. The plot is slow but has great pacing, the more you read the more you unravel the misteries of the world and machinations of the various great powers.

This is as far as the good things go unfortunately, as the story progresses it kinda of loses its edge.

Some characters are not used well, in the specific I'm referring to the MC old (and new) classmates as well as his sister.

The more you go on the more characters get introduced but the MC is always detached from them, he is too business oriented and opportunistic in his relationship so nobody really matters since everything is dealt like a business transaction and nobody catches his interest ever (this time not even the jade beauties).

This a common problem in system based novels to be honest and not many of them manage to remain interesting after the system does his magic. You could argue that some of the more talented people in the same generation are at his level but that's false, even old Wang is never seen by the MC as a rival or as a target he should strive to reach, he is barely a milestone, one that he'll leave in the dust soon.

He only cares about his sister but she's too young to matter in the story and the author for some reason banished her to the comic relief realm, that's a shame since she's the only connection the MC really has to the world.

The story is still decent and readable but as the MC gets stronger and stronger without bonding with anyone I couldn't help but lose interest.

The MC himself was a pretty good character at the start but after a bit of development he stagnated in the generic shameless-scammer chinese MC type, and this is, again, a damn shame.

The system he has is pretty interesting to be honest and I've read about people complaining about it being not enough of a cheat but that's false, as long as he plays his cards well he is undefeatable, nobody in his generation can compete. Yes it's not an instant win button but it's incredibly OP, that combined to the various restrictions placed on cross-rank challenges and bam, he never loses or even comes close to it.

Overall this is pretty decent read even if I'm disappointed by the latest developments, there isn't much better in the same genre, the translation is also okay so, 4 stars. <<less

I really like this story. The story starts real slow with almost no world building, but how more you read how more of the world get explained/explored. It's nice to slowly learn more and more and it makes the story more interesting. I hope they will translate more chapters soon.

Ok. Unlike most people who didnt like cause it's slow pace for some reason, I like the 1st 300 Chs most. It was realistic as it could get. I like the premise especially characters, god the author is a genius at that especially his cute sister and all. This novel has like most 3d characters I have seen in any novels. Every character has a backstory even some villans. Author does take a short ch or two to mention that. Which is also it's so big sometime but it makes... more>> things look really real.

Ok, these were good points and now for cons. First thing is that MC was never smartest but he was not an idiot either. He knows how to scam people but thats rare, Most of the time, he makes proper deal with them. Now what happened after 300 Chs almost, its like entry one around him became an idiot. He says some things and they are like ok we will do it.

I don't know, it was good but then got wierd after 300 Chs <<less

This story is really slow like a snail. It give me headache from the very beginning. I really want to drap this but I can't. The story is good if only not so slow.

Compared to the Lord of Mystery (from very beginning) which is not boring, have a action on the spot and mystery side by side its good... Until the brutal part.

Well this novel (World’s Best Martial Artist) give me a unique feeling. This really different from the (Daily life of Immortal king) and other modern type. The story... more>> well balance you almost see that normal human and martial artist give each protect/rights. Well let's see if the MC go farther in the near future. Hope this not so hopeless. <<less

I personally really enjoyed reading this novel.

MC is hilariously shameless similarly to novels like A Will Eternal. Leveling is gradual in the beginning allowing for better world and character building. There's only been very subtle hints of romance from where I'm at.

My main problem is that I find that MC's feelings where pretty vaguely shown. At first I could not tell if he really cared for anyone else apart from his family but further in I realized that he shows his affection only through his actions. I just wished the... more>> author would explore more of his internal struggles.

Apart from all of that I found action to be really solid and plot to be pretty engaging. I did spent three days to read over 400 chapters. <<less

its a nice novel, intresting and not instant powerup.

MC has cheat but his growth is justified as its slowing growing.

chapters are long, and have indept story, not missing much details, as you are slowly shown the world and how it works.

also mc's sister is so good, I already love her. So cute. If anything haooens to her in story, I will probrably beat the crap out of aurth I i get chance. She is so cute.

It's really the best novel right now. Lord of the mysteries used to be my favorite but now, it's become really annoying with a very complicated and complex story. I really hoped it was just a simple Transmigration story, but the author just ruined it with a bunch of nonsense. So now World’s Best Martial Artist is my current favorite. Well, as a non complete one. In addition to A record of a mortal's journey to immortality.

This is one of the rare CN novels that keeps getting better and better as the story progresses. It avoids most of cliches, and the plot remains consistent whole time. Characters and their interactions are much higher quality than in most martial arts novels.

The story starts slowly and it takes a quite while before the main plot is revealed, which must be reason for low score, as there is not instant gratification. But if you keep reading, you will be pleasantly surprised. The beginning feels bit frivolous and humorous, but... more>> it will become a lot more serious when the truth about the world is revealed. There will be plenty of action later on. <<less

Quite fun to read.

The MC Fang Ping is a bit silly with his thirst for money and the story plot and cultivation system quite "reasonable" compared to other wuxia novels.

Also for once, the MC doesn't particulary enjoy killing: the chapters about his first "death match" is quite pleasant to read about that. The MC hasn't lots of experience in fighting as he is kind of afraid to take risks and die, so even if he has an OP cheat, his victories are not that much "armor plot".

Secondaries characters are also... more>> quite well developped. Sometimes it even feel that the MC is not always Fang Ping. I've also enjoyed the discussions with his crazy cheek chuby sister.

There is also, for now, no romance: the MC is only focussed on getting more money becoming stronger, and it's the same for the secondary characters.

The pace is good, the plot is interesting, and the chapter length longer than the usual: It's a good read. <<less
