I'm forced to write this review so I may save future readers from hours of frustration. While this story starts off well, it slowly spirals out of control and lands into a mess. Even the epilogue, ugh! The worst female protagonist ever! She's worse than the air headed bimbo's who only know how to hide behind the hero.

I honestly don't get why so many people seem to find this story and the hero romantic. To me the hero came across as obsessive, irrational, and selfish. Worst, though, is that he doesn't change or learn anything throughout the story. He continually blames the heroine for the problems in their relationship. Yes, she absolutely adds to their problems, but because we mostly get her perspective in the story, we're able to see that she at least thinks about how she is contributing to the problem. We don't get that... more>> perspective from the hero so he just comes across as a spoiled toddler who gets to keep behaving like an a**hole.

Thankfully, fate never gave them a chance to give up. Although HEA is a far fetch concept of their ending. I like to think that at the cost of the long lost years they're apart, they bargained it with the unknown future together. Now that they've known what true suffering means, they developed their patience and tolerance which made them living together stable.

This story tells us about a headstrong female who tried her best despite being an average women in terms of intellect and social standing, in a ruthless society of money and business. How life seems to never give her a break. Pride and full of responsibilities, Su Yun Jin takes all the pain inside which developed her from a timid girl who hates to socialize to a confident woman.

Cheng Zeng, the high school top academic and sports heartthrob, and has a perfect wealthy family. You can glean just how arrogant this type of person is. But no matter how prideful he was, in the face of Su Yun Jin's indifference, this young master is left in a fluster of no words and awkward actions. Their interactions are really bittersweet. He wasn't the most likable person at first but as the story progressed, his love for Su Yun Jin is really deep, almost overwhelming at times, which will make you realize that out of all the male specie in the world, he "might" just be your best bet at being the best man.

It'ill make you wonder what sort of emotions you will experience in the next coming chapters. What I like in this novel is how realistic it can be, relationship aren't all flowers and roses, (Thankfully, unlike some novels.) they're not full of happiness, small loneliness, then happy ending. No, it's gritty in its tragedy, because incidents in life will always interrupt and disrupt your life. It will affect you relationship, no matter how stable or in love you are with each other. Love isn't a magic word in this novel that can win the hearts of people, but is a baggage with consequences, You have bills to pay, need food to survive, to decide whose to be in charge of housework, and would require a job to have. And life isn't easier just because a part of your family is super wealthy. You have to earn your own living, and this novel just made it clearer to me that despite all of that, there is still a kind of love that's a life line. The last thread for your sanity and survival. Ultimately his perseverance wins her over. Overall it's not the best story nor is it unforgettable, but it’s still a decent but frustrating read. The male lead’s love felt genuine while the female lead's character is quite realistic, though in the end, it felt like she just settled for him since he was there. The chase felt also unrealistic, while the number of ‘sweet’ moments was a little lacking, but the ending itself felt natural, though somewhat overdue. <<less

Honestly, I don't know how to rate this novel. I mean its not bad, but there are many things that don't seem right to me.

Their relationship was toxic, from the very beginning. Chen zheng was someone who always got everything he wanted. So, from the start when he sets his eyes on Yun Jin, he wanted to have her. There's not a clear answer of why did he liked her or when he started to like her, so I was kinda confused when he did all those things to get... more>> her attention. Anyway, his personality was extremely childish and overbearing for me. On the other hand, Yun Jin, was someone who dealt with many things. Her father's illness, money issues and her own problems, such as low self-esteem and lack of confidence. She was indecisive and hesitating, she didn't take decision without first thinking carefully about the issue. Many times throughout the novel you feel annoyed because of this. She never truly said what she thought. As for Chen zhen, he was the complete opposite, impulsive and hasty. They go trough many things, highs and lows, but mostly lows and difficult times. They spend 3 or 4 years together, and then 4 or 5 years apart. In between, both of them did their own thing. However, they weren't able to let go of each other in one way or another. Yun Jin many times throughout the story said that they are not compatible and suitable for each other, and honestly I agree with her. That's why I didn't want them to end up together. This story its kinda realistic in the sense that there aren't perfect relationships and things don't always go your way no matter how much you wanted it. The thing is that from my perspective as a reader, they didn't make each other happy. Chen zhen was constantly insecure about her leaving him since she didn't really expressed what she felt for him. And, Yun Jin felt burdened by his love and care. I do believe that in their own way they loved each other, and in some relationships love can be enough but in others its not enough. <<less

The truth apparently this is not my cup of tea.

The story itself seems good but slowly I do not know where it is going, I thought at some point the FL was going to reflect and overcome or I don't know maybe another ending. (And I don't mean happily ever after)

This novel both the FL and ML are not healthy, much less "think" in their actions, they just get carried away by all situations... more>> full of insecurities, I could even say hate.

And what I definitely did not like, was the level that the FL reached to degrim and disrespect itself.

And I do not justify such actions either the ML or FL.

My point is that if you really want a protagonist and a protagonist who grow as characters, you will not find it here because it is simply a "melodrama" full of nefarious actions that take them to the end. And they only live on regret. <<less

this story put me through an emotional wringer.... but it was also deeply satisfying. the two main leads are both flawed and human.... they make mistakes and hurt each other and other people, not all their mistakes are magically wiped clean by the end of the story and they do have to live with the scars... but life goes on. In the end, they are able to find peace in a large measure, which is the best we can manage in this imperfect world.

I was initially thrown off by the reviews and comments of the FL & ML being frustrating, but since it was translated on my fav translator website, I decided to give it a go and damnn, It has been some time since a story got up in my feels.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the point of them being frustrating and how the FL won't open up, but she's by far the most relatable FL for me because I see myself behaving in the same manner as her in those... more>> situations.

I'm a sucker for angst stories, but this definitely packed a punch for me, though I'm still on the fence about them being back together.

This novel leans in to the slice of life genre. The characters are flawed to the point that sometimes they're extremely unbearable which is how we humans are. I tend to veer away from this kind of genre because it's confrontational and doesn't give me any form of escapism but I was able to go through with this one although I won't do a reread. At first I didn't actually expect the emotional rollercoaster this book would bring me. Thus, I expected it to be an angsty book about first love.

As I expected it was about the ups and downs of first love. However, what I didn't expect is the story. While it may have been long and dragging, this story tells us about the reality of relationships.

Even though I am not a fan of melodrama I will definitely reccomend this one. The author is amazing!! How she/he portrayed and made the story very realistic. The story is about how two people fell in love in their youth and how they fell apart as a couple living together and the moment they reunited. Most of the time it is the lack of understanding and acceptance that every individual is different from each other and that is the start where couples start to drift apart unknowingly until it reach the point where the only option is to go on seperate ways. It is really a story of human guys ? Don't expect the female or male characters to be inhumane, the characters really portrayed well the emotion turmoil that we occasionally have when facing certain situations.

I would also complement the translator, she conveys the story's up-down emotions really well. Terimakasih banyaaaaaak.

This novel is one of those that will have you wanting to slap the leads, for the misunderstandings and lack of communication but also in the end, make you really want to cheer for them. Chen Zheng is one of my most favorite MLs ever, because he is straight forward with his feelings and so sincerely devoted, despite her irritating cold behavior. What if love is not enough by itself? People separates and reunites; love cannot make people forget and forgive as long as they keep being stubborn and refuse to communicate. To be together, words are needed.

“You are still here” moves the heart of its readers and swings them along with the two OTP’s ups-and-downs. Among other Chinese romance novel I’ve read, it is one of the most excellent ones. It takes the old Cinderella cliche through twists and turns that will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between.

I read this a few years ago. Kinda sad how this has low rating because I actually like this so much. Tho the story is frustrating, I found myself enjoying the emotional rollercoaster ride and cared about the two main leads. Thanks to the author and translator for the good story!

I like the humanity of this novel. In the real world, not everything goes your way. There will be disparity; no matter how close you are. People are flawed and we are inherently selfish as we want to flesh out the desires of our hearts. However, despite that, what makes this novel beautiful? It showed that people are capable of starting over and second chances.

This is a good story with a quite heavy plot emotionally. The love goes with insecurities from both lead characters and give us a lesson on how love means 'give and give'. Many problems arise on their relationship and they were suffering together, no one is the winner.

You can try to read this as your reference, but then keep being optimistic (as I quite troubled on how complicated the FL's mind) as it's only a story.

This is a typical sad melodrama novel where the characters gets together then breaks up due to problems and misunderstandings (mostly not talking to each other) but this is a good read, I really hope you would read it as it is very eye opening and makes you rethink about feelings in general.

The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because of the ending, I would have rated it lower if it wasn’t for the last chapter.
