The widowed woman seemed quite charming and innocent, but she betrayed his trust as easily as a member of another sect might betray their own faith. She threatened him with the Holy Grail, which the Empire had taken from her people:

“You must obey me.”

“That sounds thrilling.”

It was inevitable that he would succumb to this threat; now they were bound by an unbreakable bond.

“The Pantheon’s followers believe the Holy Grail grants wishes, so it will bring my child back to life.”
