when Su Yan was starting to learn how to text, she takes a long time to reply to Jingchuan and at the end of her every text message she would put -Mrs. Jiang and ML would do the same and put Mr. Jiang hahaha I just think it's the cutest thing idky lol

I love how she just goes with the flow while trying to adjust. Prime example: it being the first time she saw her husband, he got that "look" in his eyes and she was just like, "Well, it's better to get use to it earlier on."

For example, the morning after she did it with ML and she was dead tired and she was being childishly angry. This was what she thought:

"She knew that it wouldn't affect anything if a woman showed a bit of anger at times like these, on the contrary men felt even more pleased."

Thing is, though she had a romantic relationship with the Emperor before she transmigrated, she did say she never did make love with him. Basically, she had 0 experience but she is saying this as if she had plenty of experience WITH not just one man. (Yes, maybe someone previously educated her about it but for being portrayed to be cautious, she assumes quite a lot).

It's not just this one time about her assuming about men either. Like she would say "men would like this" as if she had been in many relationships before but the reality is she had just had one man. Just because she had seduced the emperor, doesn't mean she's suddenly an expert in romantic relationships, especially with the difference in eras and all that. The emperor, after all, is one man with his own certain set of preferences based on that time and the ML is different.

Probably because the writing had a more serious and logical tone that I take it more seriously as well, so when flaws in the details reveal themselves I get more critical.

Don't know why but MC's attitude kept me from supporting her as a character. It's puzzling because I've read "The Male Lead's Substitute Wife" which was somewhat similar and I remember even laughing over it a few times. Well, it's been a few years and I'm not sure if I would think the same if I read it now.

Though the MC did acknowledge that her thoughts were selfish and I admire some of her qualities. Just... maybe it was the way the author wrote her?

On another note, the ML is pretty good (at least until where I read) especially when he was forced to acknowledge MC's affair in his face. Loved how he communicated his expectations and thoughts.

where the male lead was asked on whether he will love FL forever by FL’s cousin. The male lead responded: I can’t promise that I will love her forever but I will treasure her forever.

There were a few woman that tried to intervene in their relationship but of course they failed. The female lead also had her fair share of man loving her or trying to intervene in their relationship as well. However in all circumstances, both ML and FL acted maturely. Even though they were very frustrated, they did not throw tantrum towards each other on it. They voiced out their thoughts and feelings.

For example, on one instance that was after the FL had given birth to the twins, there was a woman in an executive position trying to seduce the ML. The FL heard such a rumour from Linda, ML’s secretary, since Linda and FL got along very well. The FL felt very frustrated and annoyed since there are always woman targeting his husband as if she didn’t exist. She just headed to ML’s company. When she arrived at the ML’s office, the ML was pleasantly surprised by his wife visit and prepared to have dinner together. At this time, the woman who wanted to seduce ML arrived saying that she had documents to pass to the president. Linda told her to wait and reported to her boss. But Linda did not remind that the president’s wife was here. At the same time, the FL and ML stepped out of his office. He told that since it wasn’t anything important and he wasn’t in charge or familiar with this, it can be passed to Li Yang (Vice president). The FL sized her up, greeted her and spoke to the ML in a mushy manner. The ML happily left with the FL. After that for a few days, the woman didn’t make any movements but the FL knew this woman wouldn’t just stop like this since she had already “kept meeting ML at the car park.” A few days later, as the ML was bathing and at 10pm, the ML’s phone rang. The FL saw that it was an unknown caller and answered the phone. The woman spoke in an ambiguous tone saying that something was left in the car. The FL was angry but she composed herself and switched on the recording then asked the woman what thing was left since it must be so important (her bracelet or smth) to be calling at this time. Then she said it was something important left in the ML’s car. The FL asked which car was it then the woman said a particular car. The FL then said she will pass the message. When the ML came out of the shower, he felt a cold and immense aura. The FL told him that if he don’t answer properly he will either kneel on the keyboard or the cactus. The ML then confessed that since the twins’ (boys) bu*t kept wiggling in front of him and he used to love playing that smash the mouse bu*t arcade game, so he kicked them lightly. The FL was angry and told him that his sons would decide on it so she told her to deal with his sons tomorrow morning and let them decide. She repeated her question and said if he doesn’t answer it properly don’t say about kneeling, he wouldn’t be able to sleep in her bedroom. Then, she played the recording. She told the ML as she sobbed in a half truthful manner that she felt very frustrated that woman kept eyeing on her husband as if she wasn’t there. The ML can’t bear to see her cry so he quickly comforted that he almost pasted the words “I’m married” on his face. He also quickly explained that the car was sent to maintain since he lent the car to his assistant. Then he immediately called his assistant and placed it on speaker. ML asked where the car was. The assistant replied that it was sent for maintenance. The ML then asked whether there is anything left on the car. The assistant said no. Then the ML ended the call by telling him to call Lin Yan (Vice President) tomorrow morning. The assistant responded in agreement and ended the call. In the FL’s thoughts, she said that it was alright if it happened once or twice (well it happened thrice for her already) but after a while it would tire the relationship and she didn’t want that to happen.

On the next morning, the woman happened to meet the president and thought that the FL must have quarrelled with him. She planned to comfort him then she can seduce him and all. She greeted the ML and explained that she had something left on his car and had already called the assistant but did not get a response. In the ml’s head, he thought that she was so scheming and would have believed her if his wife didn’t tell her and he didn’t hear the recording. He remained silent and went up to his office. After Lin Yang (one of ML’s friends that he brought to the company) came, the ML asked the performance of the woman and whether she is replaceable. Lin yang said the woman’s performance is alright and questioned on why she must be replaced. The ML responded that she did a shady matter and questioned that throughout the times they were working together how many times did they meet in the car park. Lin yang responded that he didn’t count. Then the ML explained that he met this woman so many times and she had even call at 10pm (which was an ambiguous time). How could she not be shady? Lin Yang at first thought that it was too over the top to dismiss her but he knew that the ML had already decided. The ML then told him to treat him for lunch since he is going to tell him a lesson that he should learn that is: he only has one wife. He has to make his wife trust him and the others can be replaced later.

The woman realised she was dismissed. She didn’t understand what went wrong since she didn’t say anything wrong to both of them. Then as she was packing up, she saw the FL talking to the HR department staff (since the woman was the head of HR) happily. She wore a bright red dress and looked very beautiful. The FL brought food for them and asked them how to pass the red packet for the previous head of HR’s wedding (since she left because she was getting married). The FL also reminded them that if they were going, remember to pass the red packet to her and said that she would do the same if they were getting married. The woman watched the whole scene as if she was an outcast. The FL greeted the woman and told that she had bought Polo buns (?) and asked whether she had found the item. The woman said she didn’t. I think the FL said she wish her luck on finding it and left. As she left, the woman noted that a scent remained and it was from an expensive perfume brand. Then she realised that she underestimated the president’s wife and thought that she was just like other wives. But this is a good lesson to her. (*Pukes*)

P.S the FL later tried to kick the wiggling twins’ bu*t but stopped when Er Bao (Second treasure/fl’s second son) turned around and laughed foolishly. HAHAHAHA I found it hilarious. I can’t believe the ML really kicked his sons’ bu*t HAHAHAHA.

I love the way MC openly communicates with the ML about her "ex", so we avoid all the frustrating misunderstandings so many other novels have. And how the ML resolutely deals with the infatuated females around him.

Towards the latter third (can't remember exactly) the novel moves towards the interactions between the little buns and their family of 5. It's super sweet and very satisfying to read! The buns are, of course, super cute! I also loved the extra chapters (where the 3 buns are grown up). I could read a whole different novel just of the story between the daughter and her love interest.

who killed the FL's family? Why is there no history about the FL's dynasty but her bracelet was found in the auction house? Etc.

Just because the FL has the same birthmark of their deceased goddaughter? It's quite disappointing.
