Jiang Nan’an is a new-generation powerhouse actor who focuses solely on filming, avoiding variety shows, public appearances, and publicity stunts-known as an aloof “flower on a high ridge” in the entertainment circle.

But in reality, off-camera he has a peculiar personality with extremely low emotional intelligence. He doesn’t understand social niceties, can’t handle the slightest grievance, and tends to have meltdowns at the drop of a hat-his mental state is frighteningly beautiful.

To maintain his silent and reserved public persona, his agent forbids him from being himself in front of cameras. Jiang Nan’an has always kept his work and personal life strictly separate-until one day, when a trending topic called “Jiang Nan’an’s Heartfelt Confession to Spring” rockets to the top of search rankings.

When opened, it shows a screenshot from gaming streamer Spring’s comment section:

“[Pinned] Jiang Nan’an V: Brother, you’re wrong, you’re terribly wrong. Do you know that every night I wake up screaming, helplessly going crazy and wailing? No one cares about me, so I can only slap myself to force myself to calm down. But when I see your face, your hands, your heavenly gaming skills, I weep bitterly, hating myself for not being you. I love you, did you hear me? I love you, and the biggest mistake of your life was stealing my heart!”

“[Author’s reply] Spring: ? Those who criticize the ruler shall face the ultimate punishment”

By the time his agent’s 198th phone call comes through, Jiang Nan’an is frighteningly calm.

“What if I told you I was drunk, went crazy, and forgot to switch accounts-would you believe me?”

Jiang Nan’an’s cool persona collapses overnight, leaving him with no way to explain. He temporarily puts aside all work to stay home and reflect.

Not paying attention to which account he was using was indeed his mistake, but taking a hundred million steps back, doesn’t that gaming streamer called Spring share some blame too?

What kind of decent person would hold a flattery competition for themselves and then share the link forcing others to participate?

Jiang Nan’an grows increasingly frustrated until later, when he’s invited to participate in a gaming variety show and sees a man backstage with a lollipop in his mouth. The man’s name tag clearly displays the word he hates most: “Spring.”

“Jiang Nan’an?”

The man has also noticed him and examines his name tag with a lazy Beijing accent:

“So you’re the little celebrity who got me trending? I’ve taken quite a bit of flak because of you.”

Jiang Nan’an brings up the incident, wishing he could hang himself with a rope:

“Is that why you pinned my comment right away?”

“Don’t be like that. It was just for fun-whoever gives the most satisfying praise gets pinned and worshipped by thousands. You were in a league of your own, leaving everyone in the dust.”

The man speaks casually, his candy making light sounds against his teeth as he chuckles lazily:

“You were so sincere, I thought you really loved me.”
