Facing the ruthless power struggles of an ancient imperial court, the Film Emperor remained unfazed: “I’ll survive on my acting skills alone!”

Emperor (gong) x Powerful Minister (shou)

The protagonist has a golden halo and a golden finger (but the golden finger is not too thick…)

A shared universe to 《Our Male God Has Collapsed》, where the Prince of Ruyang transmigrates into a Film Emperor. (《Our Male God Has Collapsed》 is already completed.)

One-sentence introduction: “I’ve decided—I’ll rely on my acting skills to survive!”

Purpose: Transmigration is tough, and romance is even tougher.

Work Summary:

Film Emperor Li Yu transmigrated into a young prince who had just courted death. Stranded in an unfamiliar world, the Film Emperor felt immense pressure and faced great challenges. He fell in love at first sight with the world’s coldest and most beautiful man and immediately launched his pursuit! (Okay, that part is nonsense.)

The Film Emperor found himself in the brutal power struggles of an ancient imperial court. With no other skills besides acting, he calmly declared: “I’ll survive on my acting skills alone!”

He loves life, loves acting, loves the throne—even more so, he loves beauty. The Film Emperor used his acting skills to navigate court intrigue, highlighting the importance of mastering a skill. The emperor (Film Emperor) might seem naturally carefree, but his mental drama runs wild.

The prime minister, a high-ranking, aloof power figure, remained as unmoved as the mountains no matter how hard the emperor tried to charm him.

The Film Emperor effortlessly shifted between his real self and his new royal identity—but can he win over the unshakable minister’s heart?

In short, this is a story of “If there’s work, the prime minister does it. If there’s no work… the prime minister still does it.” Really.

Aside from a few things, it's so so.

It's a well-translated, fluent, and engaging story. While reading, you constantly wonder what will happen in the next chapter.

That's why, for the translation, writing style, flow, excitement, and readability, I'd give it a 4/5.

However, when I looked at the tags, I noticed that a lot of things were missing. This story is not exactly the sweet, cute, soft romance where every chapter gives you a sugar rush. At least, if you're expecting a purely soft romance, some chapters might genuinely catch you off... more>> guard.

Rating for the story: 2/5.

The beginning is decent, the middle parts—I honestly don't know what to say—and the ending is also acceptable. But as I said, in the middle chapters, if you're a reader who strictly prefers soft romance and a green-flag main character, a few chapters might make you pause and reconsider.

Why am I saying this? =>
Spoiler

The story starts off smoothly but lacks depth. That's generally normal because character development and narrative depth usually build up over time. But in the early chapters, a lot of topics were brushed over, and even in the later ones, most things felt rushed and lacked proper depth. Some plot points felt like they were written just to be over with. There was little to no character depth, no clear purpose, no strong narrative layer.

So while the story was going along in an average way and I thought I understood the MC (and I really thought—"There are only a few chapters left, how will their love bloom? How will they get closer?"), BAM! The MC locked up the ML...

What? Yes, locked him up.

I couldn't believe my eyes, so I went back two chapters to see if I had skipped anything. I hadn't.

Then I checked if I was even reading the right book. Yes, I was...

Honestly, it felt like the story had veered off into an entirely different direction, as if I had started a whole new novel. I was curious how their relationship would develop, but I NEVER imagined it would involve locking up the ML.

In those chapters, the MC completely changed from a green flag to a flag I couldn't even identify.

He locked up the ML, gave him an aphrodisiac, and even though they didn't go all the way, he did quite a lot. And the ML didn't want any of it—he resisted every time.

No matter what, s*xual harassment is not something I want to read about. And it's not listed in the tags either.

So I was just hoping those chapters would pass quickly and that the MC wouldn't do anything else to the ML.

In the end, it did get better in the later chapters, but using this as a method to deepen or speed up their relationship was, without doubt, one of the dumbest choices the author could've made.

I guess the author looked at the increasing chapter count and thought, "I need to resolve this quickly, " and this was the result.

The story itself is pretty compelling and the translation is amazing, one of the best I’ve seen out there, but I’m not rating since

1) I haven’t finished reading it yet,

and

... more>> 2) I would be more inclined to rating it low because I was taken aback by the MC and ML both having wives and children already, which would be unfair for the novel since it doesn’t necessarily make it a bad read, it just wasn’t what I was looking for.

Anyway, posting this review here to warn everyone that while it may be a comedic novel, it stays true to its setting of being in Ancient China, so MC and ML both have wives and children, with two of the ML’s children being near in physical age as MC’s new body.

I’m not sure if there will be a twist later on of ML’s children not being his or whatever, but you get the dynamic.

MC was also open to looking for another partner and kinda found someone he appreciates early in the story when he and ML weren’t yet together and wasn’t in good terms. <<less
