Came because of Qiang Jin jiu....

The plot/ feel is not the same as QJJ. Not that tense or politically-influenced, instead cute and fluffy (?)

Though my knowledge is limited to the first five translated chapters, I am of the opinion that the story has a easy-to-read-flow. The relationship between the main couples is intriguing, while being tender and soft.

Spoiler

The MC pretends to be dumb for some while... but the ML catches on it quiet quick.

[collapse]

I am looking forward to read the remaining of the story.

Thank you Translator.

Well apparently that cruel and sinisterly ruthless minister is his reputation to other people but with MC he is just a pampering lover from the start. Its pretty well written despite its concept. There is also another couple that is unecessary for me because I am personally not a fan of couples outside the main in such a short story, takes too much screen time.

starting off I must say, tang jiuqing you are f*cking brilliant. This being her FIRST novel at the age of EIGHTEEN is literally a huge flex. If u probably go deeply critical into the plot aspects you can notably find errors but the entire plot is so well woven that at first face value you would actually be s**ked into the world building and enjoy it harder than you expected. Altho if u scale it to qjj, this novel definitely has a lesser world building in the comparison but again... more>> u can't really compare since this is 55 chapters and qjj is 282 chapters long. I was impressed by how well its written.

MC is the son of the deceased prince yan, he is the 4th son. All of his family died one after the other. Left alone as the heir of beiyang army, everyone eyed the army but were taken aback that prince yan's descendent was a mute person. Only ML knew of his potential and took him in to create him into a "secondary yama" (we will get there). MC initially was very timid and even though he was not ignorant of the ways of the world his entire being exuded innocence??? In a way??? But he slowly grew upto understanding politics and finding himself in the crooked corrupted world. Hope ignited within him to reinstate the politics (even if it was because he just wanted to protect ML back like how the latter did every time + get revenge of the scorned reality of the yan family).

ML is the yama of court, he is one of the "corrupted" official who is "power hungry." everyone pretty much fears him and hates him. He is very opportunistic and you don't really have an entire view on his side until very later. And it makes no sense to you how he fell for MC, but once u read the extra, you would know why :")

the romance aspect of this novel is very fast lit but is not awkward in the very least. U just prob feel like, "damn how are u both attracted to eo alr" but it also makes sense??? It doesnt feel odd at all. And the way they evolve as individuals and in relationship is very noteworthy. + The fact this novel has few chapters and is highly political so romance would be needed to dealt with quicker so I get it. At least the development was just right. (Altho people might be taken aback by their age gap + mc's age being 16 ;; but well fiction is not equal to reality so 🤷‍♀️)

the plot aspect??? Holy f*cking hell. I don't understand how tang jiuqing managed to write this GEM for her first novel. Like yeah if you are highly critical you will find flaws but you will end up nodding at how t97 managed to write such a good short story as her first novel. I could go on and on about the political aspects of this novel but its mostly spoiler-y so i'll let that be a element of surprise.

i was more obsessed and rooting for the side cp xie jingsheng and he anchang, im so glad they had a happy ending. I love both of the cps man. This novel is blissfully good.

in overall, this novel made me realise that t97 is a really really really versatile writer who has amazing skills at writing (at least political novels [altho I love all her novels so I think she aces every genre]). <<less
