This is something I read after finally finishing a difficult semester at school, and wow did it make me... more>> feel better. So many of Li Anran's challenges with social anxiety, isolation, self-doubt, etc. are painfully relatable. His thought processes and non-normative coping mechanisms/traits are very real for me, something that I rarely come across when reading in general, because so few characters are portrayed in such detail in terms of mental illness as experienced by someone on that blurry line between "high" and "low functioning" (even though I am aware that these terms can be problematic in some contexts). And this story does not mess around with unnecessary, drawn-out angst, as both MC and ML make consistent efforts to understand each other in their own ways. I sincerely appreciate MC's aunt, who truly does her best for him. She clearly cares so much and despite her initial concerns, is overjoyed when she finds out that ML is real and loves MC and accepts him as he is (but also encourages him to slowly grow and develop his communication and interpersonal skills too).  <<less
