tang story’s affinity for wanting to make their readers’ cry….i've read both ‘living to suffer’ and ‘till death do us part”. living to suffer i have read thrice and till death do us part, twice. living to suffer was enjoyable in the raunchy yet emotive way tangstory crafted the s*x scenes but i did not enjoy ml’s characterisation…and lot of the other plot lines fell flat for me…but till death do us part came in to redeem the disappointment i felt at the end of living to suffer. it was my first republican era danmei! very enjoyable! the tension! the intense heartbreak of separation during times of political strife…i was invested! another favorite quote :... more>> style="line-height: 40px;"> “However, he left behind words that would last for generations: "What is a path? what a novel! my first chicken gege novel!! foxghost’s translation is so good i truly think it it’s one of the best danmei translations i’ve ever read. it made me love the novel even more. 

ftxy has a way to make u enjoy EVERY character here. and he really made me enjoy lang junxia i want to climb into the novel’s universe and ********** to his ***** until he ***** (car crash sounds, child crying, birds screeching). i literally gnawed on my screen everytime he appeared…don’t tell anyone but i scoured ao3 for fics of his slash pairing with li jianhong…dilf galore :)

and i won’t talk about what happens at the end of part 1 but just know i almost shat myself from crying. 

the novel is slow paced…but once u get into it…u are hooked. love the trope where ml is a haughty loser bum who gets upgraded by the cool and smart mc because wu du in part/book 2 you’re like…lol loser and by the last book ur like…wait he’s kinda…hot…anyway he gets sexier and cooler…

new take on omegaverse! i found it interesting and kinda refreshing. i truly didn’t think it would be a tragic as i did as i began it…tbh thought it was gonna be lots of papapa no plot…but i was mesmerised especially by the plot progression…

this was my first harem danmei novel and i had a great time reading it. the dynamics of the mc with each mls is so different you can’t root for either pair to be IT…like it is hard to pick an otp imo. and that’s the goodness of it. 

mc is…pitiful but also tenacious. he is quick to adapt to his situations it’s quite admirable. he knows the “quagmire” of a marriage he is in and does his best to survive and live. if he wasn’t as assured in himself as the plot developed i think i would have dropped it but seeing him…grow…i felt like he was my own son.

the ending was satisfactory. i supported every choice he made! i truly loved him. and i loved him too in the sequel! he is..a diva…

anyway…the story…you guys don’t know about yearning…about love!!! the mc…he’s a YEARNER…his career is in YEARNING and LOVING. he dgaf what society says. what i enjoy the most is that the gong mc is just some guy!! fr! he’s not some hunky sexy high rank official. he is some loveable guy failure dude with a big heart. and lots of love to give. love him.

i love how majority of the main characters are eunuchs. and how the authors makes them so diverse in characterisation. despite them being inherently known for being distrustful and “evil”, the author writes them in a way in which u can empathize and understand each of their situation especially those in ml’s faction. but oh the hurt…reading this…hurt. i’m achy thinking about it again.  

i truly loved the main cp’s relationship…and the s*x scenes omg pray for ml’s hole…

A-chong is stubborn and exudes the “playboy” energy from how he is quite nonchalant about establishing a deep relationship with the MC. However I found it cute that he needed to be woo’d and pampered to finally be swayed into the relationship.

It’s a lovely short story. I’ll re-read this year :3 <<less
