Even the MC's agent got bent LOL but I like him for standing by the MC when no one else believed in him. There's occasional knives about the MC's past but the MC's family makes up for it. He's got so much insecurity and issues unresolved even the ending didn't feel that happy. I really like the ML here though, poor guy also had so many issues of his own but at least he learns to open up once he accepted his feelings for the MC. So many plot holes were left hanging. What happened to the 2nd brother? The MC's younger brother? Did the MC and ML had their happy ending? And I don't appreciate adding a 2nd couple (the Qin brothers) when it was so half baked. The MC just wants to be loved y'all, and his tr*sh family just couldn't. I wish the tr*sh family had more karma because the three of them conspired to do so much damage to the MC. Another great read! The MC naturally is OP (it was established from the start) but I love how he was alone in his previous life and he just formed his own little family through the people he had helped and healed. Some of the cases made me really sad (especially the train one, Duo Duo didn't deserve that kind of life!) and surprisingly none of them felt like a filler in the story??? They're all sort of intertwined and related to the MC in some way. Plus I absolutely love the little snakes, especially the Dragon King of the Well! And I'm super glad that the MC didn't have a tr*sh family, though the grandparent... more>> and dad were both mostly absent from his life, they still were good people. The dad is absolutely hilarious too!

Giving this a solid 4.5 out of 5. The subtle digs about Japan made me feel icky at times (I really don't get used it to it even if I've seen countless novels doing this) plus it was a no brainer as to who the ML Shi Xuan really was so if that was supposed to be a plot twist done by the author, it didn't really feel like it. I wish there were extras! I really need to feel more of the sweetness between Wu Heng and Shi Xuan because it was severely lacking... <<less

I love this story so much because I get immersed in each arc so deeply. Each arc don't just end after 10 chapters, it's so detailed there's layers upon layers of intrigue, mystery and secrets to figure out before it ends! Wen Shi was always quick to think on his feet so he seems like an OP newbie but he's really just someone clever who knows how to manipulate *cough* use his skills, plus he's also a bit lucky. It was such a joy reading about Wen Shi forming a family of his own, from being a discarded orphan to someone who genuinely had people who cares about him: comrades who worship and idolizes him... more>> a little too much, a witchy mom, a doting but deranged grandma, an OP alpha male older brother, an expert swordswoman older sister, a devious (literally) sadistic little brother, even a (zombie) son!

As for the romance... it was also fun guessing who the ML was, initially. My guess was totally wrong but I don't mind at all. Having said that, do not expect an overly showy or romantic ML. He's OP, dotes on the MC a lot, ready to do whatever he can to help and save Wen Shi but most of it were very subtle actions. 

My only gripe about this novel is there are no translated extras!!! I need the extras!  A very rare 10 out of 10 read for me this year! <<less

This has a perfect amount of sweetness and (vague) hot scenes, and I am so okay with that. I'd like to believe that Lu Xuefeng and Song Muqing fell in love at first sight. Their love story doesn't seem conventional, like marriage before love but I feel like the feelings were there at the start, they just gradually realized it as they spend time with each other. Such a sweet and endearing story. This doesn't really have a conflict and sort of sounds like an ideal, perfect relationship but wouldn't we all want that? Full marks for this novel! <<less

While him being vengeful was entertaining at first, it came to a point where I feel like he's just flexing. He and the ML are both OP but it's ridiculous how OP the MC was, the ML looked like a guy reaping the benefits of having an OP lover to progress without doing much. It's entertaining up to a certain point but it just seems too much of an overkill 80% in. Overall an enjoyable read, but you'll get fed up before you can finish. 3 out of 5. <<less

But whoever said that the MC was doing all the heavy lifting in this story is wrong. The ML is the one who is OP and majority of the story was spent with the MC lamenting how they're levels are like a chasm he can't cross, though he did become OP eventually, after being sick and worrying the ML, not controlling his powers and the cycle continued until he matured. Pacing is all over the place too. Like, there were very few chapters left in the story, then they're in the middle of a supposed war and you see the MC and ML frolicking in the MC's home planet. That was unnecessary. The ending also felt a bit anticlimactic? IMO, I feel like one of the big conflicts of this story should be the MC knowingly choosing the ML as his new partner to alter his fate. It shouldn't have been overlooked or passed off as a dream, considering the MC told his previous life partner. And the previous life partner's new lover just became an insignificant cannon fodder who had less screen time than other cannon fodders. Yikes. 2.5 out of 5. I wish Er Ya was a little bit less grating to read, I don't get the decisions she makes, most of which are just reckless flexing in the name of being the MC's mentor. Meh. <<less

I absolutely love the extras! The MC being reborn back to the period after he died and catching a glimpse of the ML's life after was so heartbreaking but necessary. It's also sweet to think how the ML just fell in love at first sight with the MC. And the story did touch a bit about social classes and discrimination, the disparity between the poor and the rich, the weak and the strong, so that gave it a little more depth. I was about to rate this a little bit lower but the extras/side story made me like this story just a little bit more! I think I enjoyed that short time when Bai Jing and Gu Yuanzhao transported back to the time when Bai Jing was 16, which effectively shows how Bai Jing's life would've been if Gu Yuanzhao was the one who got transported to that time. Plus they were so effective together in a post apocalyptic setting? They're OP, sure, but I guess I like how it felt like they use their abilities more than the gambling focused story. Plus it's a very different way to show an ML that his MC came from a different time, Gu Yuanzhao felt a little more like an ML in that post apocalyptic world instead of a decorative love interest with money and power. And that satisfying feeling knowing that the old Bai Jing was saved. Overall a solid 4.5 out of 5. Docking a half point off because again, the MC is too OP and it kind of gets overwhelming as the author dives deep into the stone gambling "technicalities". <<less

Like it was Hening's fault that he's loaded?! Also, the "white moonlight" is tr*sh! The MC stayed with the s*um for far too long despite being smart and rich. The ML is such a green flag though, he puts everything into perspective while never forcing the MC into anything despite feeling the attraction between them, and frankly, slaps the MC in the face of what he could've had and how he (MC) should be treated if he was with the right person. The ML's family situation is complicated but he's so good? The MC's dad is my favorite though! That guy was hilarious and one of the best dads I've read, so protective of Lin Hening then ended up being like a great friend to Gu Fei. Overall a great read, though it did test my patience for a while. 4 out of 5. Lin Hening should've been smarter with this life decisions so we could've read more of his sweet life with Gu Fei. <<less

How about the therapy? Does his dad know? Why does his friends know and they seem to be doing NOTHING about it? I wished it was explained more, because it felt like his condition was used as a convenient excuse for him to have his way with the MC. Their relationship started sweet but it just became downright weird. I came here for the fluff but around 80% it's basically just smut every single waking (even when he's asleep!) moment for the MC. I mean fine, they're adults, but it came to a point where it made ME feel uncomfortable (the ML's kinks, I mean) and the MC was just going along with it. There's also non-con??? And even the grandma says the ML is creepy! He's controlling, possessive and has serious trust issues that felt like it was brushed off because he's handsome and rich? Like just because Wen Sinian is nice to Xu Yan, spends money on him, we're supposed to ignore his all consuming dark desires for the MC and treats the MC almost as a s*x toy. Nuh-uh. I want to give it a 3 but it's a 2 - 2.5, I know the author said it's mostly self serving for her, but why did she have to make the ML so weird? Poor Xu Yan... <<less

So many plotlines could've been expanded but understandably not explored a lot because it's a short novel but I wouldn't mind this novel being 80-100 chapters long. <<less
