Really long book, but probably my second favorite danmei after QJJ. All of Meatbun's books are heavy on angst but deeply rewarding in the end.

There are many moments in the story where the ML's POV is shown, revealing how he looked down on the MC, genuinely thought he was useless, and treated him like he was nothing. It was heartbreaking. BUT I assure you, he will chase and grovel in the second half of the book—and it is  satisfying. <<less

LOVED the first half! However, I think the ML groveled way too much—I actually felt bad for him. Compared to other scummy MLs, he wasn’t even toxic. His only real "fault" was falling head over heels for an MC who was strongly resistant to the idea of being with another man. Yes, the ML can be manipulative and forceful at times, but considering his upbringing, it’s not surprising. I hated how other reviewers viewed the ML as if he were truly evil. Even the translator’s essay long notes painted him in a demonizing light—she seems to see characters in black and white. At some point, I stopped reading the T/N, and I’d actually recommend doing the same if you plan to read this.There is a happy ending, but personally, I think the ML deserved better. <<less
