My Best Reads Ranked (Mostly Romance)
These are all personal bangers that I’ve kept up with daily.
edit: most of the Korean entries are deadlinks since apparently Korean authors are pretty strict (its a whole thing), so im removing them. probably going to be avoiding Korean novels from now on unfortunately :(
short review based off of what I remember liking and disliking from each novel (some I haven’t read in a while so let’s hope I can grasp coherent thoughts)
each will also have a personal enjoyment and objective score rating at the end. (rankings are based off a combo of these)

Similar to the #1 novel this is a longer one (maybe length = enjoyment for me?) The ML is great and the dynamic between the two main leads is pretty unique. For me this has some flaws, notably the weird tone shifts in the latter half of the novel (is this an issue tho?) and the lack of good romance throughout. but despite these gripes I find that this is probably the only novel that made me cry. really touches you emotionally at the end and I reccommend that if you do start reading this and feel like dropping it - DONT! Probably the best Rom Com novel on the list. The ML and FL here have the best dynamic I’ve seen among the thousands of garbage romcom manga I’ve consumed on this site. My only issue with this novel is that they should’ve started dating way earlier. (chp 26 as of review) I have read a lot of novels with the childhood friend villain trope, and this one is probably the best executed. For light novels, the quality of writing and translation here is a cut above the rest, with the pacing and wordchoice actually having impact (especially in the flashback scenes). Unlike other similar novels, her family actually cares about her, which I find really endearing. I usually despise an overabundance of flashbacks, but the utilization in this story always feels relevant, and the young versions of the two leads are very cute. I understand with novels that are really cliche like this it’s difficult to justify extending past the confession stage, but I always end up feeling a bit empty knowing these characters I enjoyed so much won’t exist in my mind anymore. This story is quite special. for the first 40 or so chapters, It had the most interesting character development I’ve seen out of a novel. I don’t want to spoil too much, but the basically the MC decides to let a 4chan (or ig 2chan) forum dictate his life. This formula created some of the most hilarious and cringe scenes I’ve read in a novel. That being said, unfortunately as the novel progressed it shifted more towards the harem aspect. I really like the characters here, and literally everything that happens makes you feel some type of emotion. I’ll be honest though, this novel has a lot of minor issues. This dynamic seems somewhat realistic but I still find it kind of cringe how quicky Ayaka’s family warmed up to Haruto, especially the parents. Also, the development I’m at right now with the fake-lovers, although a common cliche, is just plain s*upid. pretty similar concept to Pick Up the Rejected Pure Love with much more interesting characters.
