Edit: finished. Strangely enough it became one of my top favorites, no lies! Actually, I had been delaying reading this for quite a long time, even before I created this list. So..MC used to be an ab*ser, but he's not the kind of ab*ser who understands what he does, while feeling no shame over it. Basically in the beginning of the story we see someone who doesn't understand how to form interpersonal relationships, all gloomy and detached from the world, just like a stray cat. This story is mostly about healing. Some parts made me cry. I'm glad both MC and ML found happiness in the end. <<less

I hope it makes... more>> sense, I myself am a straight woman so I prefer to see the narration from the shou's point of view, the shou doesn't have to be weak, cute, feminine, etc, but I like to see him falling in love with the ML gong from his perspective since usually green flag gongs are very similiar to the image of a perfect husband every straight woman dreams for so in this way I can kind of 'feel' the protagonist and his emotions.  <<less

Why I'm hesitating: I saw so many good reviews but there are also ones saying it's no brain dog blood drama and that the antagonists are flat, the story kind of shallow. Still I think I will read this one, the negative comments are present under every novel on NU after all. It definitely can't be that bad considering such a high rating of 4.6/5... more>>

Edit: I picked this up and I'm hooked. I'M HOOKED!!! MC has a social anxiety or something similiar, also inferiority complex (?). He seems to be very traumatized. He is an extremely successful author and his public image is rather cold since he doesn't communicate much with his fan base and even if he does he's very polite and restrained in his responses. Our ML is a bit younger and he has been MC's fan for years, mostly of his works but he came to like the MC's personality as well. 

What positive things I have noticed so far (ch. 11) :

ML isn't straight and as it seems he came out of closet long ago! Such a rare thing in danmei where you often see MLs who are either straight or didn't have any romantic experience at all thus aren't aware of their orientation. 

ML immediately realizes that MC is his type and he wouldn't mind dating him, but he doesn't push things. 

MC is in fact very likeable, yes, he is very restrained in his communication which creates the illusion of being cold but actually he thinks so much about his words as not to offend others and not to seem inappropriate.

MC and ML kept in touch online during the years, they didn't know each other's real names, gender, appearance etc. but each of them was the special person to another in their lives.

Edit: I finished it and my first impression I left here is pretty accurate so I won't say much more, give it a go, it's pretty good!!! <<less

Why I'm hesitating: The only thing i can say here is that i'm rather delaying picking this up because in recent days i was in a mood for something shorter with a simple plot.. apart from that well I'M NOT EVEN HESITATING! The reviews are so good!!! This one is not that popular but there are some really detailed rewievs and judging by what people say this novel has a potential to become one of my absolute favorites, check it out!OK so a bit of what I liked about this novel from what I found out in the reviews: MC and ML aren't OP! ML is a green flag but he has some flaws and... more>> isn't entirely pure (which I like); ML is the protagonist of this novel's world but his protagonist halo doesn't seem to be in the chat with us, umm hello?; There's a cute kiddo in the story (not their own); MC is allowed to fail in this story which of course doesn't make him a failure but makes him more realistic. MC actually earns the benefits, they don't fall from the sky☆*: .｡. o(≧▽≦)o .｡.:*☆ ! ML doesn't fall at first sight and the feelings develop gradually and naturally! I think when I was typing this recommendation meant for others actually worked on myself and I suddenly want to read it so much, like.. what??? OK I'm gonna go read it now.

Edit: dropped around 25-30 ch in, as for me it started out good, but after first few chapters I was mainly forcing myself to continue reading, of course I wouldn't say it's bad though (I didn't even read a half of it I'm not that unreasonable). I think it's just not for me, I was reading further hoping to find something to catch my eye again but I got too tired in the process so I thought I'd better stop hoping. And I don't know how some of the reviewers read this, MC felt way too OP to me. He's good at deduction and almost everything he deducts turns out to be true, he's smart, can cook, even gets to know how to talk, read and write in the language of this world he entered (it's ok but I found out most commoners there can't do that, and considering he entered the "set" as an "extra actor" why would he be so well-educated?), also because of the setting of this world he literally recieves the notifications (missions) with the description of the next scene like: take:#123, main characters: X and Y, place:***, night/daytime, their dialog: *** and even some of the characters' inner thoughts. It's consistent with the plot but because of such notifications he even gets to know the events and dialogs (inner monologs as well) of other important characters such as villains that happen not in his presence, for example "in the noble's manor: the noble said he would do this and that". Also about the MC's magnificent career ladder - in the beginning the scenery before the MC's eyes was very limited, he could see only a small area and the other territories were nothing but blank space, when he meets ML who is the protagonist of this world he tells him he owns an inn, and guess what? The world is dependent on the ML's perception and because of this the inn appeared literally out of thin air, basically MC says to ML that he's an innkeeper and he becomes an innkeeper. Even the way MC got money felt OP, he discovered a bug in this world, he went to the border of the already explored territories, faced the blank space and threw something there only to realize the things thrown into empty space will return double, in this way he went there with 3 copper coins and returned with a full pouch of money. No comments. <<less

So here we seem to have the MC who is a misunderstood genius in a family of genius medics. He likes to laze around all day long, he actually has a whole different world in his thoughts and because of that he became a laughingstock, people think he's uneducated and foolish young master while he feels too lazy to explain himself.

The ML is the emperor's younger brother and one day he's ordered to marry MC's sister. When ML comes over because of his majesty's order he happens to overhear MC and MC's sister chat about this marriage and finds out that the bride is unwilling and this bride's brother even advises her to jump in the lake saying that's what he would do in such a situation.

After this ML has some business and the matter of said marriage is delayed, he takes our MC with him and goes on a trip, explaining this by wanting to find out more about his future bride from her brother. While in fact he probably was angered by MC's words so in the following chapters he acts literally like a middle schooler with a girl he has a crush on. He always wants to make MC loose his calm which is hard because MC doesn't get emotional easily. 

I don't think what I said is much of a spoiler since the summary is too unreliable and as for the info I mentioned - is all written in the first few chapters, so this is more like an introduction. I just happen to have read the beginning of this novel before so I remember this, back then I probably stopped because of the unfinished translation, anyway this must be a great read!

Edit: Unfortunately dropped (around 40 ch. in). It's quite good tbh but I just felt it was lacking something for me. The main characters didn't feel alive? I could only see them as the words on paper not as living people, I know it's ok since they actually are just characters in a book but for me it's a valid reason to drop something. Also after reading a few chapters I realized I had tried to read it before and dropped it around +-25 chapter in and it wasn't because of the unfinished translation. I happen to have dropped this twice already thus this is probably just not my cup of tea. Though, the plot is actually ok, MC is also likeable, lazy, smart as hell, very cute, ML is good,  found nothing special about him. Side characters are quite well-written too. <<less

Why I'm hesitating: I'm kind of tired of the MLs who were either scummy or couldn't express their true thoughts for years (like come on no matter how bad your EQ is when you love someone you can at least say it out loud for once or do something meaningful, especially if you have a high IQ, you can literally imitate some moves or behavior of some random guys in a romance movie, even if you feel it's not important) then MC is reborn and wants to flee as far as possible and ML is suddenly proactive/enlightened/regretful. It was very cute, there wasn't much dog blood drama and the plot mostly focused on the main couple and their relationship. I think 4.2 is a bit too low for this novel, I've read novels that are on par with this one and rated around 4.4 on NU, yet this one is somehow only 4.2(?). Anyway that was a nice read, I don't think I will reread it but as for one time it's worth it. Moreover it's relatively short. Also the villains get what they deserve with the main villain even losing his life, come on that's a rare sight, usually I only see villains rotting in prison~ <<less

Cute and simple but was way too simple for me to go through the whole thing (it has 100+ chapters, such a long read focusong only on food would kill me). I enjoyed the chapters I'd read quite a lot though. And I was hungry all the time reading about the dishes MC cooks. Got more interested in asian food because of this novel. <<less

Dropped it around 30ish chapter in (which is almost a half of the book). I must say It's a leisure fluffy read which is not bad, I just wanted the plot to be heavier, got bored. <<less
