the way the author tells this story is phenomenal. An Zhe and Lu Feng and every other character introduced meant something some way or another. there is no right answer to be given in this novel because the world simply does not care. reading the comments after the end of every crushing chapter stating "this is a HE this is a HE this is a HE" comforted me, but it was still impossible for me to believe such a thing exists for them in this bleak world. however, just like how the author made it possible to provide an open-ended yet happy ending, she also made us see that despite such a hopelessly cruel world... more>> existing, beautiful things can still occur. i wholeheartedly give this novel 5/5 because it was perfect in every way.

reading the first love of Xie Yu and He Zhao unfolding so naturally, experiencing the vigor of high school all over again, and seeing the interactions between their classmates, teachers and family... only one word can be used to represent this novel and that is "Youth". 

there are many high school novels out there but only a few are able to make me feel this tingling warmth in my heart. the writing style together with its eccentric characters creates a story that is entertaining but realistic at the same time. the last 2 sentences in the synopsis that exclaims "Basically, this is a serious comedy. About the little matters of growing up." fully describes this novel. 

Highly recommended read, especially for students.

update: reread fake slackers and a few parts hit me hard this time. really an amazing novel and i also found so much comfort in the worries of a student, grades and their future. <<less
